I've sailed the Breakaway twice, in 2016 to the Bahamas and in 2017 to Bermuda. There was NO FEE to access the "adult pool". There is a main pool for adults on the pool deck for all to use. There is an adults-only area called Spice H2O that is free, but there no pools, only hot tubs and a water feature/grotto (great for cooling off!). Perhaps the person was referring to Vibe, a private sundeck that costs about 200 for the week? There's no pool up there either - only hot tubs.
I'd take those reviews with a large grain of salt!

We used their online form (found here) to contact the Access Desk. We got an email response confirming in about three business days. If you prefer to call, the number is (866) 584-9756. 

On past cruises, they leave a letter in your stateroom confirming your needs, and give you the contact info of the Maitre D. We never had any issues!

I'm a huge fan of Six! You can give the London album a listen on Spotify. It's a very short show and a lot of fun, very suited to a cruise ship! 
One fun thing about the show is the songwriters tried to write each wife's song in the style of a different pop artist, so if you're unsure if it's for you...
