  1. Now that the new entertainment schedule is set, the dailies should be good. ;)

We booked this cruise 70 days out and had a problem with 7:00 PM reservations. Once on the ship, we were able to change some late dinning times to the 6:45-7:45 time slots.

Where did you go to change your reservations? On the Breakaway it was in the atrium next to Guest Services. We are leaving in a few days and I want to change a few of our reservations to later times.

  2. You probably won't believe this but when we were on the Breakaway last November, the people next to us put the cushion from their couch on the balcony and slept there a few nights. When I went out on our balcony the first morning, I saw them when I leaned over the railing. I think they stopped when it rained one night. All I could think of is that I would hate to have that room next knowing the cushion was out on the balcony the week before.

  3. Thanks everyone. It makes sense that muster is early in case someone wants to eat dinner early. I sail on the Escape on May 14 so I will post what the schedule is when I get back if someone hasn't posted before that. I actually liked that they changed the sailing to later as we have to fly in the same day as sailing so will have plenty of time in case of any delays.

  4. Just wondering if anyone has sailed at this time. What time is the muster drill? Are dinner venues open before sailng or open later than usual?

I can just envision thousands of people trying to get dinner after sailing and every venue packed. I have cruised over 30 times and never set sail this late so any experience with this would be appreciated.

  5. We loved the deck 17 sundeck in the front of the ship. It is on the opposite side of Vibe. It was a quiet area that always had chairs, & the bar there was never crowded. There was even a shower if you wanted to get wet because it was too hot. Our first time on the Breakaway we didn't find it until the last few days. The second time we were up there every sea day.

  6. I would like to see self serve ice & water out by the pool areas. When the bar gets crowded, it can take awhile to get water and I don't want to put a coverup on just to get a glass of water from the buffet.

Also, self-serve soda stations with the cup with a chip (like RCL) would be nice so if you just want a soda, you aren't taking up a bar server's time to get it.

  7. There were a few families there and they seemed to have a good time. It was great that you could have chairs with umbrellas. You could order sodas and bottled water as well as alcoholic drinks.

I think any age group would be a good fit as you could reserve a table and chairs instead of loungers as well. Everyone was very friendly and wanted all to have a good time. Not rowdy at all when we went there but that I think that would depend on the ships in port. We were on a Disney ship and it was the only one in port.

Our kids are older but I would have definitely gone here when they were younger because the beach was so level and the water shallow.

  8. We were in Costa Maya on October 1 last week and had a great time. We emailed Steve the first week in August to reserve 2 lounge chairs for our 25th anniversary. He sent an email with detailed instructions on how to get out of the port area bypassing the vendors to get a taxi if you wanted. Warning: it is a long walk to do it this way. You can also catch a cab closer to the port for a few dollars more. After a short ride into town we stopped and it wasn't much to look at from the street side but a great guy was waiting for us with a blackboard labeled "Tropicante VIP's" with the names of those with reservations. (Sorry I can't remember their names) He took us to the beach side and we were very pleased. It was a beautiful beach and the chairs were very comfortable. Steve, the owner, came right over and explained how everything worked even what to do with the many vendors that go up and down the beach...just say No Gracias and they would walk away. The waitors wore Tropicante t-shirts so you could pick them out. The waitors were great, calling us by our first names and catering to us all day. We had many margaritas and beers along with quesadillas (which were the best), chips & salsa, and nachos. The bill at the end of the day was only $57 US dollars. They even came out with the bottle of agave liquor (their tequila) and we did a shot for our anniversary. They offerred a massage for $20 but we were happy to just relax. The water was a little dirty but they had a bad storm the week before which could be the reason...still cleaner than the northeast!

I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great beach day and want to try local food and drinks.
