  1. I tried to book with Alaska Galore in April 2014 for our August 2014 Alaskan cruise. I emailed them the date I wanted to book and told them I had a coupon from the Alaska Tour Saver book. I was told it was "early in the season to book", but they would let me know when a tour was available. Finally, this week, just 9 days before our cruise I emailed them again for an update. I was told they were still waiting for 2 people, but I was "on the list". We had already made alternative plans since I had not heard from them, I just wanted to see what they would say. I was very disappointed with the lack of communication and felt like since I had a coupon they didn't want my business.

  2. We went through Costco and are renting from AVIS for $64 for the day :)

I tried booking with Avis through Costco and it says "This is a non-participating location."

  3. So after all my freaking out, here's what happened.

Canada border guy: What is the purpose of your visit?

Me: To take a cruise to Alaska.

Canada border guy: Stamp stamp. Have a nice visit.

    Thanks for the update!

  4. We got the TourSaver book for our August cruise. So far I've booked Whale Watching in Juneau, a $159 savings, and Sea Kayaking in Ketchikan, an $89 savings. We're also going to use it for the Mount Roberts Tramway in Juneau and maybe the Gold Creek Salmon Bake.

  5. We are cruising to Alaska at the end of August and have all of our port excursions booked already. This is a once in a lifetime trip for us and I didn't want to risk an excursion being sold out. If you definitely know what you want to do, I would book it NOW and hope that it's not already sold out.

    Enjoy your trip!

  6. Ok, ending our 1st Alaska cruise 9/28/14 in Vancouver

Want to fly out of Seattle

    a few days later?

    or right away?

    So.

Ferry rides with an overnight stopover in Victoria?

    Bus to Seattle right away?

    other options?

What do we 1st timers opt for? and how?

    thanks in advance!

I'll tell you what we're doing after we return from our 1st Alaskan Cruise on Monday September 1st. We are taking the quick shuttle http://www.quickcoach.com from Canada Place Pier to downtown Seattle. The Vancouver Entertainment book has a 50% off coupon for Quick Shuttle. We are then staying one night in Downtown Seattle and will visit the local attractions (Pike Place Market, Space Needle, etc) and then flying back on Southwest to Columbus Ohio on Tuesday September 2nd. Even with the hotel and transportation it will still be less than flying back from Vancouver.

  7. The only sightseeing time you will have is Mon afternoon after arriving in Seattle, so yes, a downtown hotel is the best option.

If you use http://www.flatrateforhire.com a taxi from downtown to the airport will be $29, about 30 minutes. If you can easily manage your luggage, catch the Light Rail at Westlake Center 4th/Pike for $3 and a 40 minute ride.

The Mayflower is at Westlake Center so very convenient for the Light Rail. Might be over 200 tho.

    Thank you!

  8. are you taking the Quick Coach to Seattle on Monday ? if so which one, since some drop you at Seatac and others drop off in Seattle. And what time is your flight on Tue ?

Yes, we are taking the Quick Coach to Seattle on Monday. I would probably prefer to stay downtown Seattle Monday night, so I would take the one that drops off downtown. Our flight leaves Tuesday at 10:20am.

    Thanks!

  9. Returning to Vancouver on a Monday and flying out of Seattle on Tuesday. We are taking the Quick Shuttle from Vancouver to Seattle. We would like to see the sites in Seattle and are wondering:

1.) Should we rent a hotel in downtown Seattle? If yes, what would be the best way to get to the airport the next day?

2.) Should we rent a hotel near Sea-Tac? What is the best way to get downtown that evening?

3.) How close are downtown hotels to the Quick Shuttle drop off and is it easy to walk/cab to the hotels?

Any hotel recommendations are appreciated. I'd like to keep it around $200 for the one night.

    Thank you!!
