  1. We're planning on touring with Victor Bodden next week with a stop to see his monkeys, but now I'm thinking this place would be better (cool sloths! LOL)... has anyone toured with VB and stopped here? Is that insulting to forgo his monkey place for this one? :o Is it better to switch to Rony, if he has someone available? We want to visit animals and also shop a bit and snorkel.

Bodden's guides can take you here, no problem! We stayed on the island a few months ago and had Victor arrange a guide for the day. He actually recommended stopping at the sloths!

    Good stuff, for sure!

  2. We had Bodden take us to, and pick us up from our NCL Dolphin excursion. It was no problem at all, then they were able to take us around the island before and after the dolphins!

  3. He is a local guy - not a big company owner like Victor. He takes his reputation very seriously as his family and community depend on it. He takes great pride in making sure every customer has a great day.

FYI, Victor is a local guy, too. He has a big company DUE to his reputation and making sure every customer has a great day.

  4. Haven't been when an NCL tenders in to port (we were waived off due to winds the one time that was supposd to happen!)

But, from the port's facebook photo, it appears all ships are fairly close so I would assume the tenders dock at the port, near the shops.

  5. Hi,

I have Anthony. Has anyone had him?

It's my first time touring Roatan. Is it possible to just do a city tour without add ons like zip lining? I just want to see the city.

    Robert

Check the review right above your question... It looks like they had Anthony (Post #683.)

  6. Some great sightseeing & a trip to West End Village are both "free". West End Village is lined with restaurants & shopping (from touristy souvenirs to Waves of Art, our favorite place...crafts, well made tees, etc.) Plus, no beach vendors that I've ever seen. That, and a $5 visit to Victor's monkeys, is pretty much all we did last week. $30 total through Bodden Tours (plus, a few adult beverages at West End!)

  7. @abcs4578 Im not sure If you get a hold of any of them ask them. I would be lying if I gave you an answer since I havent used any of them. MC Tours and Bodden which operate in Roatan not yet in Trujillo and sell aboard the ships I would be willing to say they have all their stuff in order.

Victor Bodden has added Trujillo tours, it looks like. I was looking over his site for a tour to do in Roatan and noticed a TRUILLO TOURS link on his pages.

  8. Victor Bodden (Bodden Tours in Roatan) is going to set up an operation there, from what I heard. We were debating between two Jewel cruises and settled on the one that still goes to Roatan... But, it was reassuring to know there would be a "familiar face" had we gone to Trujillo!

  9. ...not really a scheduled thing. You will walk out on the dock, a boat will pull up. Ask how much to go to West End, if you agree to the price...off you go! We've usually caught them at the dock at Infinity Bay Resort, but they will pick you up at Fosters, too, I believe.

The trip is 10 minutes, maybe. Never really paid much attention, usuallly taking in the sights along the way! THey run sun-up to sun-down.

These are just locals in their own boats making money! A great service, especially when staying on the island.

  10. Does anyone have a contact information for a driver named Sam? He has been doing tours on the island for years. He has worked for both Bodden and Rony in the past. We have been to Roatan several times and he is our favorite driver, but I have lost his phone number. He is very nice and really goes out of his way to make you comfortable. I left my glasses in the back of the car and he ran into the port to catch us before we got on the ship. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Have you tried sharing your contact information with Rony or Victor? I'm sure they'd be happy to share your information with him.

  11. Was looking for a cruise next year (if the stars align!) Boden's Zip-n-Dip and Fun-n-Sun now include Bananarama as part of the tour! I think this is a change from last year, when we had to pay for Bananarama...

Getting excited, now if I can get the other half to get excited, too!

  12. I would assume he was just trying to relate to you and your family. Maybe he was expecting a "Why, yes I am Jewish... Tell me about Roatan's Jewish community..."

Cultural differences can be hard to figure out -- it's often what makes cruising excting sometimes!

Embrace the differences...share some of your experiences with the people you visit! Often tour guides are just as curious about you, your lifestyle and culture as you are about theirs! Learn...and Teach at the same time! Judaism is something not real common in Central America, be proud and share! I just did a quick Google about Judaism in Honduras...there are 40 to 50 Jewish families TOTAL in the country!

That all aside, after reading others experiences with Tex, I would guess that this tour guide meant nothing offensive by the comment.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

  13. I'll answer my own question if anyone else is interested since I emailed Victor and got a response within two hours! I found elsewhere on his web site where it said $70 per person but his email clarified to me "$70 per person NOT per hour."

Don't you mean $70 per hour NOT per person? That's what we paid "years" ago -- a group of 4 of us, so each couple paid $35 for the fishing part per hour!

  14. We have been corresponding with Victor for a tour, when we are in Roatan next month. The emails were all in perfect English for the first 2 months, but for the last several weeks, the English is very stilted and not grammatically correct. Does anyone know if there is a problem or if something has changed with the tours?

I had that same problem when I didn't include a copy of my previous correspondence with him in subsequent emails. He couldn't seem to find my reservation without associating it with my previous emails from him.

I assume it is because he has some stock answers that he uses for basic questions. He is self-taught in both English and computer skills, so I just do everything I can to make his job easier.
