  1. Hi, it's a few years since we were on the dream, but there is always a late night disco. The pool parties great too. I depends what the girls like really. The Broadway's shows can be good and there is also another bar where they have game shows, not everyone cup of tea but a laugh. Marella cruises a great, I hope you all have a fabulous time. Sorry if this dosnt help much. Go and have fun. Happy cruising.

  2. I haven't been on the forum for a while, so apologies if this has already been discussed. We are booked on the Celebration for September 2020 and really looking forward to it. We have been on Discovery 2, Dream, Majesty and the Spirit, the Spirit being our absolute favorite, so as she has sadly gone we booked the Celebration, being her sister ship. I've just been reading some recent reviews and shock horror one says the Celebration is leaving. Has anyone any info on this.

  3. I went to reception for a card only to discover we needed to input our own personal PIN to operate the safe (instructions beside safe). Check the safe before making a trip to reception.

I'm feeling a bit dim here, do we have to use our visa bank cards and PIN numbers to use the safe and does this charge for use of the safe.

  4. All our cruises at the beginning were insides. Left the bathroom light on but shut the door to leave the tiniest bit of light into the cabin. Usually reasonable size and very affordable compared to balconies. Only once we were situated the lowest deck and the last cabin at the bow - quite noisy and alot of movement, crashing waves etc. We then started using balconies which did cost alot more and once we had, it spoilt us and was hard to go back to an inside thereafter. Now we have retired, we have to cut our cloth and have to consider the cost and can cruise twice as many times for the same money with an inside. We did miss the natural light in the mornings so have now opted for an outside cabin for which our Marella cruise was only £37pp more for 2 weeks. We would still try to get a cabin close to midships as we can.

Looking forward to many more cruises on Marella :)

Many thanks for your info. We are inside deck 2 midships, we always book there for the price, handy for getting off for trips and hardly any movement from the ship. We haven't been on any of the new ships so we are really looking forward to going. The Spirit has always been favourite, sad that she's retiring. Get that next one booked !

  5. We were on Discovery 2 twice last year. Each time we had inside cabins on deck 2 (2053 and 2055) and both were very good - spacious and plenty of storage space. Would very happily stay in them again.

Hi Campolady, we are on Discovery 2 in a few weeks in cabin 2051, so I was really chuffed to read about your cabins. Do they have any toiletries in case I forget, to tide us over till we can buy some.

  6. Once again thanks for all your responses. Oh boy would I have loved to see the giant of a man standoff ! Could we borrow you please !! We will head for the promenade deck.

We were on a cruise a few years ago, I think it was R Caribbean and one of the crew walked round putting notes on the reserved beds, saying they had 40 minutes then the towels would be removed. Good idea.

  7. We are on Discovery 2 at the end of September, so excited. I wonder has anyone any idea of a deck we would be likely to find a sunbed, a not so popular area. We don't want to be round the pool or in the popular areas, just somewhere we can have a read and relax. Sorry if this is an impossible to answer question. :)

  8. As you can see we have booked Continental Coasts next May on Discovery 2 :)

Two new ports for us. So any advice on Marseilles and San Remo?

Hi, Havnt been to San Remo. We visited Mareseilles with the Spirit in September. Thomson put on coaches 5euros each return which took us to the marina. It was lovely. We just walked around the main part. Along the front were, what looked like huge Belfast sinks full of various kinds of fish which the locals were selling (not alive !) There were some enormous tuna.with the heads displayed at the side omg ! ! It was interesting and there were plenty of places for a coffee. Hope you enjoy.

  9. Good News - Returned from a fabulous week on Majesty yesterday; without doubt the best of the 8 Thomson cruises we have done.

Bad news - Our travel insurance is due for renewal and our current insurer (StaySure) have refused to cover Hubby in future as his medical conditions have recently deteriorated and no longer fit in their new 'pre-existing conditions criteria'. Have spent all morning trying all other options with no success so he is now officially classed as uninsurable. Under the circumstances we have had no option but to cancel our CMV cruise booked for July next year (for his 70th birthday and out 30th Anniversary) as we cannot risk being in the remote Scottish islands with no insurance if he suddenly becomes ill.

    Feeling rather sad.

Have you tried Freedom Insurance 012234 54290

My husbands pre existing conditions are now covered through our bank as he has been better for their stipulated time. However before that he was insured through Freedom. They are not cheap but my husband took ill in America several years ago and they were Amazing. I wish you all the best.
