  1.

Question -- I have chronic lower back pain... did you find your back hurt from driving these Segways? Did any of your muscles hurt afterwards?

My son has chronic back pain and has surgery, however he owns two of these and can ride them without it causing him pain.

  2. Didn't see that either. I was too busy trying to fathom why someone would bring an inflatable pool on board. I'm sure on my next cruise, not only will I see someone with such a pool, but an electric air compressor, their own deck chair and their own sand... the latter of which is a really good idea, because as we all know, beach sand contains dangerous microorganisms. (Yes, it's true, but that's meant flippantly.)

And to head someone off at the pass, I did not see whether or not these people used their own towels or brought their own.

I have read where some families bring them that have babies in diapers, but most of them put it on their balcony.

  3. Hi Sylvia, great to see you online! Thanks for the reminder to sign the CC book. It is so much fun to read all the names of those who have sailed in the past. You will see quite a few familiar names.

Here is a link to Penny's eloquent review. She beautifully captures the elegant atmosphere that one finds on the QM2.

    Beth

I am here everyday reading about everyone's adventures on the QM2.

Only wish I had been able to make that TA.

  4. It is kept at the desk in the Library, just ask for it.

The book was put onboard the QM2 on its Maiden Voyage.

Also, please report back on how many pages are left so others

    can replace it when needed.

Get ready for the voyage of your life! Unforgetable for sure.

Also, search the Cunard Board for Penny's book on what not to miss on the QM2.

  5. Good for you!! :) I think you'll be surprised at how few people use rowing machines, and how quickly they're off an on to something else. If there's a line, that's a good thing IMO. Are you using the Nustep Recumberant step/bike trainer? How is it? With weigth machines and dumbbells you can probably get your strength routine in.

Yes, I'm using the Nustep recumbent bike/stepper. There are only two at my gym and very popular. The hospital has a cardio program there and I can't use it during their classes.

I was able to get into the gym on the ship but it was very crowded. The rower is okay, but as someone else said, there is no resistance on it, so doesn't do much as far as gaining strength.

I didn't try to go to that gym again, but did start back right away when I got home. Only gained one pound so I was happy.

  6. I'm booked on a mid May Western Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Legned out of Tampa. CCL informs me the ship does have a rowing machine,:) of sorts:(. It's a Schwinn Windrigger.icon13.gif Not a C2. Googling the model, I then remembered about 3 or 4 years ago our gym had a couple of these monsterousities(sic) along with a couple of beat up old Model C's. All the "calorie counters" rowed on them. I could never get the monitors to read correctly.

Oh, well, I guess it's better than nothing. C2's new season will just be getting started and I would have wrapped up a marathon, so a break from erging could be nice...I'll report back on its condition and what the experience was like. Looking forward tot he cruise regardless of rowing.:)

    Crew

Glad to hear this, I've been hitting the gym every day for the past 2 weeks trying to gain strength as I'm in really bad shape. With only one rower I imagine there will be a lot of people waiting for it. The machine I have been using at the gym are Nustep for the Cardio and 7 strength machines that use pulleys and knobs.

  7. I have a lot of cruise memories starting in the 1960s with my DH, our very special one was to the Mediterrean for our 50th anniversary.

We shared our cruising with all of our 5 grandkids which made them all great memories. Our last was in July 2008 for a graduation present. Even though he was very sick, he was still able to enjoy the cruise.

My DH lost his 2 year battle with Cancer in December but I still plan to cruise. Next month my daughter is treating me and her 2 year old grandson to a Disney Wonder cruise. I've never been able to spend much time with her since she doesn't live locally, so I am looking forward to having quality time with her.

  8. We were on the Regent Navigator last year and every morning a lady would come in the buffet in her PJS. no bathrobe, hair uncombed...and have a bowl of cereal. She was always alone and guess she didn't care what other people thought of her.

Same cruise, it was formal night and in the show lounge there was a man dressed in shorts and a tee shirt. At the beginning of the show the CD asked the man to stand up and wave to the audience. He said something about he guessed the man had not heard it was formal night. The guy sat down very embarrassed.
