  1. Carnival is calling them GLBT meetings. We've only cruised twice. The first cruise, no one showed up. Our cruise a month ago was disappointing also with only 3 men and one female showing up. My wife and I don't drink, so sitting at a bar is awkward, and as MalibuBoi804 stated, you kind of feel on display. Perhaps there aren't a lot of "us" cruising on Carnival cruises because of their Family Fun billing. The truth is, we've had a great time on Carnival together, and Carnival must offer a wonderful kids program because I never see them. We introduced ourselves on the roll call, but never met other same-sex couples. We did meet some nice, fun straight couples during the trivia contests, though, and truly, people are people. We're married and not looking to hook up. Would it have been nice to meet another lesbian couple, sure, but just go to have fun!

  2. I want to thank you for your response. The fact that you ride bikes in the U.S. and are an experienced rider, yet wouldn't attempt it in St. Lucia spoke volumes. We are frustrated with St. Lucia as everything is so expensive. This may be the one port we just stay on the ship and hang by the pool.

  3. Thanks for such a quick and detailed response. After writing to you, we stumbled upon scooter rentals. What are your thoughts on that? I thought they'd be easier to maneuver on the narrow roads and we might like the added adventure.

  4. We are going to rent a car and make a day trip from our cruise ship around 8am and head south to Pitons and be back by 4pm. It is impossible to hit everything we'd like, so what do we leave off:

    Marigot Bay

    Anse Cochon

    Diamond Botanical Garden

    Sulphur Springs

    Sugar Beach

    Pitons

    Anse Chastanet

    We LOVE snorkeling, btw.

  5. We have our own gear and wondered if we could swim out to where the catamarans are feeding turtles? We don't want to get run over by a boat or be yelled at for being too close to a group that has paid for the experience, but I've read that the waters are calm off Payne's Beach and Carlisle Beach, so do people do that or is it too far to swim?

  6. We were there in June of 2012 on a honeymoon cruise. Didn't know about the anti-gay sentiment there and never experienced any negative looks or comments. Stingray City was awesome. Stingrays were like giant puppies. Went there on a group excursion via a catamaran, which also included snorkeling.

Of all the places we've visited as a couple, Las Vegas (Sin City) was the only place we've received unwelcome comments. Go figure...

  7. Absolutely! We are pumped to have someone finally reply. Busy working on planning our excursions every night when we get home. So far Discover Scuba in St. Thomas and beach bumming afterwards.

We fly in to San Juan at 4:00 the day of the cruise. Maybe we can meet later that day after we are settled.

  8. We are a mature married lesbian couple [not swingers] interested in meeting other gay couples (even the guys) for conversation, dinner company, or hanging out. We are interested in snorkeling, diving, and zip lining, so if anyone has suggestions, we'd love to hear them also.
