I think first prize was a NCL bag and 2-4 was a deck of cards.

Okay. Usually in other cruise lines and possibly NCL as well, in the library there's a cabinet that contains stacks of playing cards. Unlike the books in which you are expected to sign out and return, for playing cards passengers usually just usually take it and keep it with the implicit assumption that they are for the free taking.

Earlier today Eric represented in the speed trivia completion.  We like to participate in some of these games and trivia.  People had to answer as many trivia questions in 30 seconds as they could to accumulate points.  All questions were multiple choice and contestants had to hit one of 4 buttons that matched the right answer.  If they got one wrong, their game ended.  Eric brought me home the coveted Norwegian playing deck of cards for his 4th place, so we got off to a good start today!

What were the prizes for first, second, and third?

When I played this on another sailing, one of the buttons malfunctioned.

Back in our stateroom we found a surprise card and bottle of champagne from the Concierge and Captains Club hostess, two lovely young ladies with whom I chatted yesterday. So while sailing away from Rhodes after a fun filled day, Birgit was having some bubbly on the balcony.

(BTW: No, it wasn’t our anniversary)

Thanks for sharing these great pictures. I will be sailing aboard the Celebrity Infinity next May 2024 and I look forward to seeing these great places in Greece.

I do have a few questions about this picture though as I'm a little confused about it. You mentioned that it was NOT your anniversary. So does it mean that this gift and card was for somebody else who was celebrating their 12th anniversary?

Or if this card and gift was for you, then how did your Concierge get your personal information and assume that it was your 12th anniversary? Did they get your information after your conversation with the Concierge the day before according to you?

The main reason I ask is because I will be celebrating my anniversary and I'd like to see what options are to celebrate it and receiving such a card and gift is always a nice gesture and I'd like to know what you had to do to receive this gift.

  4. What did you think about the awarded prizes as a result of winning trivia games and other contests?

I liked the variety as in my 2022 Panama Canal sailing, I won:

    1. Blue Emerald Princess coasters.

    2. Blue Princess Notebooks.

    3. Gray Princess bags.

    4. Champagne bottles.

    5. Princess medals.

Happy Easter and Passover to those of you celebrating. Have a blessed holiday!

    Excellent pictures, Trish Traveler.

To complement your great pictures, a picture of my own when I was on the Emerald Princess from Dec. 3-17, 2023 as I noticed that none of your pictures include the awards and prizes.

Did you participate in the trivia and sports contests?

For me, I played numerous trivia games and was also part of Progressive Trivia and I fnished 3 out of 20 teams. I managed to win several items of the five different awards presented:

    1. Blue Emerald Princess coaster.

    2. Blue Princess notebook.

    3. Gray Princess bag.

    4. Bottle of Champagne.

    5. Princess medal.

Did you win any of these awards?

In the morning we went to the culinary show,  where exec chef and maitre'd demonstrated two dishes  a dessert, with quite a bit shtick thrown in. It was a good show, played to a packed house. We then went from the theater to the DaVinci dining room for a brief kitchen tour/walk through. Saw some beautiful fruit sculptures, and a patry chef sketching out Easter decorations. Beware, the line to go through the kitchen moves pretty slowly.

Was there a galley tour available for everybody? Or was it only for certain passengers.

On my sailing, on the there was no galley tour - at least not which was announced on the daily platter.

  7. Have you been playing in any of the trivia games or sports contests? If you have, then have you won any of the assorted prizes? I was in the 12/3/22 - 12/18/22 sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles and managed to win at least one of the five prizes offered:

    1. Blue Princess Coaster (most common)

    2. Blue Princess Notebook

    3. Gray Princess Bag

    4. Champagne Bottles

    5. Princess medals (hardest to get and may only be awarded in sports contests)

Attached are the assorted prizes. As a challenge, try to win at least one of each award.

Crazy question. We had an amazing Christmas aboard the Discovery Princess. My only complaint was there was hardly any standard North America outlets (120V - I think, sorry). I think the others were European outlets and we could not purchase adapters on board. This was the first time we have ran into this issue. We actually cause the breaker to trip because we had to many hair appliances running at once - oops.

So, my question is what is the outlet situation on the Emerald Princess? Do we need to purchase some adaptors to make sure we have enough room to plug stuff in? Thanks in advance.

I had no problems with outlets and the typical North American outlets were available in my cabin.

Royal Caribbean  progressive trivia first prize  and MSC morning trivia bottle of fizz @

So nice and generous for winning this. When I won progressive trivia on Royal Caribbean, I just got those assorted items listed in my original post. I suppose receive pens, bags, and cups are more practical than a trophy, but a trophy always looks prestigious along with medals.

As a suggestion, how about taking a few pictures of the Hollywood Hiccups show at the Expolorer's Lounge. I really liked that show and it was a great way to end off the sailing. In posted pictures early on in this thread, you will see the cruise director and his assistants perform that show. So you can take similar pictures as well.

  11. I trust you all had a great time. A few questions on your final full day:

    1. Did you watch or participate in the Princess Pop Choir?

    2. Was Baked Alaska served and did you see the waiter parade?

    3. Repeating the challenge I presented upon the start of your sailing - did you win at least one type of each award: a) champagne, b) coaster, c) notebook, d) bag, e) medal?

From HAL cruises of years ago we have, and still use,  many attractive ceramic dark blue coffee mugs -each with a large white letter identifying the ship on which it was won - we have some M’s for Maasdam, Z’s for Zuiderdam and Zaandam,  N for Noordam, etc., also a couple of useful Mag flashlights and a few other things: canvas tote, mouse pad, etc.

Maybe you can take a picture of it and show it to us.

  13. For those of you who won a medal, did any of you wear it around your neck and display it with pride?

I noticed that most passengers who won one simply wore it for the duration of the "game" in which the medal was awarded for, but certainly didn't wear it again for dinner time the following day and did not wear it during disembarkation. The same thing with me as the medal did get in the way and there's no need to continuously boast and brag.

That said just for fun, I decided to take a picture of me wearing all three medals for the first time showing both sides.

  14. Playing in assorted contests, mostly trivia quiz games but also in sports tournaments, I won some assorted awards and prizes from Princess, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean.

On Princess, I won champagne bottles, blue coasters, blue notepads, gray bags, and medals.

On Carnival, I won the two common prizes - ship on a stick trophy and medal.

On Royal Caribbean, won a medal and through progressive trivia, won water bottles, keychains, pens, and small bags.
