I think you are underestimating your driving distances and times. I would spend two full days in Denali, first of all.  There’s lots to see and do there.  Second, not sure why you’re going to Valdez. It’s a long way from Denali.  You can’t take a rental car on the Denali highway, so you have to drive to Fairbanks or back to Anchorage to get there.  It’s probably around a 10 hour drive.  The only reason to go to Valdez is to do a Columbia Glacier tour or go fishing.  What day trips are you planning from Anchorage?  It’s crowded and expensive in the summer and not much to see in town.

I would take a couple of days in Denali, drive to Fairbanks and spend the night, drive to Glenallen via the Richardson highway, take a trip to Kennicott, drive to Valdez, take the ferry to Whittier, then finish up with a day in Anchorage.  It would help to know what activities you are interested in though.

My brother and sister in law want to go to Valdez, I'm not sure what they have planned.

We are interested in the history of Aalska and native Alaska.

  2. Here is our itinerary, it is still being tweaked. We are traveling with my brother and sister in-law. She is blind, so we wont be doing a lot of stopping just to enjoy the beauty of Alaska.

Arrive in Seward take train to Anchorage. Pick up rental car at spend the night in Anchorage

Drive to Denali, stopping along the way to see places of interest. Spend the night near in Healy

Do a bus tour of Denali. Spend the night in Haley

Head to Valdez stopping along the way to see places of interest spend the night in Valdez

Explore Valdez, then drive to Anchorage spend the night in Anchorage

    Day trip from Anchorage

    Day trip from Anchorage

Explore Anchorage, return rental car and fly to Seattle

  3. We are doing an Alaska cruise going out of Vancouver. We have about 3-5 days pre cruise and I'm having a hard time deciding whether to fly to Seattle, do some sight seeing and take the train to Vancouver, or go straight to Vancouver and spend out time there. We have never been to either place and there is a minimal cost difference either way. Any suggestions are welcomed, also reconditions on things to do. TIA

  4. This is my original plan

Day 1Arrive in Seward take the bus to Anchorage. Pick up rental car spend the night in Anchorage.

Day 2 Drive to Denali, stopping along the way to see places of interest. Spend the night in Healy.

Day 3 Do a bus tour of Denali. Spend the night in Healy

Day 4 Head to Fairbanks, stopping along the way to see places of interest and explore Fairbanks. Spend the night in Fairbanks.

Day 5 Maybe take a tour of the Artic Circle or explore Fairbanks some more. Spend the night in Fairbanks.

Day 6 Drive to Glennallen, stopping to see places of interest along the way. Spend the night in Glennallen.

Day 7 Drive to Anchorage, stopping along the way to see places of interest. Spend the night in Anchorage,

Day 8 Explore Anchorage. Turn rental car in and fly home

But I'm thinking of dropping Fairbanks and doing Seward and Valdez. What would be the best way for me to do this?

  5. Is this itenerary do able? Also if anyone has any other ideas or places to stay please let me know.

  6. Does Royal offer any excursions where you can see and hold a sloth? We are traveling with my mother in law, and she will only do excursions through the ship, she has a fear of being left at the pier.

  7. We are sailing out of Galveston for the first time and I need suggestions for parking, My husband is a disabled veteran, my mother in law will need a walker or wheel chair because she cant stand for long periods of time, and we are also traveling with an aunt who is blind. Can anyone give me suggestions on the best place to park? I know there is a place we can park for free with my husband being a disabled veteran, but I don't mind paying if there is a better place to park.

  9. We will be sailing in July on Allure doing the Western Caribbean. I have a couple of questions.

What is the website to find the MDR menus?

    What nights are formal?

Does any one have any recent cruise compasses?

Does any one have a recess infant compass?

    Thank you in advance.
