We are going on the roof of the world trip next week. We used Viking air and are flying Air Canada both ways with a change of planes in Vancouver (going) and Toronto (returning) from Newark, NJ. We booked late and could not get direct, but its Star Alliance with United.

Our trip has the same 3 options that you do. We plan to do two of the three and do our own peking duck dinner as I heard it was less than stellar through Viking.

do we need to bring gifts for home hospitality or when we visit the school. Is the school in session during the summer. any suggestions!!!

I also am not sure what a packing cube is.

We leave July 7th from Newark NJ and are flying air canada to Vancouver then on to Beijing. I will let you know how it is. We couldn't get a direct United flight so we took a star alliance member and used vikings' air option as it was the least expensive. We also booked late and couldn't use miles.

Will the July 9 Roof be sharing the ship with the July 7 Explorer? I haven't counted it out the days to figure it out but there is a roll call for the July 7 Explorer. You might not be on the same bus but if you are on the same ship...

Not quite sure. We leave the states on July 7th and get into Beijing on the 8th of July. I think I am on LaurenSpray's roll call.

I just sent my documents to Genvisa today for the July 7th roof of the world trip. I had to submit my license number and a copy of the drivers license. I also needed to get a special invoice from Viking that does not mention Tibet to submit. I should hear back in about 4 weeks.

I am really getting excited about this trip!

Anyone going on the Viking Emerald from either the China Explorer or the Roof of the World Trip that leaves Beijing on July 7 2013. We have another thread that three of us are on. Would love to connect with more people.
