  1. I tried to do the kitchen tour several times when it was offered free. Every time the tour was so crowded that it was difficult/impossible to hear or keep up with the group. The behind the Scenes tour is well worth the cost. It is interesting, informative, and the group is restricted to a small number.

  2. Our next Viking cruise is in April 2016, and we already are paid in full. That ties up a large amount of our money, but it's nice to know that vacation is paid for and that the plans are finalized. We have two other cruises scheduled with other cruise lines between now and then, and we like knowing our plans are finalized and our vacations are paid for well in advance. We've sailed on a Viking river cruise! loved the experience, and know we want to experience a Viking ocean cruise.

  3. Bob & Margie,

So are we! Considering the second leg of Venice to Barcelona for 2016.

We are booked for the Venice to Barcelona leg of the cruise. We loved our Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam to Swizerland last summer and hope this ocean cruise will be as great. We'll be traveling with another couple, and we all are in our 60's, have traveled throughout the world, and love the excitement of discovering new places. Cruising is so relaxing.

  4. Yes, we booked our airfare through Viking, but then we paid $50/person extra to have Viking make custom reservations. That way we chose the airline, the flights we wanted, and our seats. We saved a lot of money even though we paid $100 extra for the two of us to be sure we got exactly what we wanted.

  5. We have booked Mediterranean Odyssey for April, 2016, and we are very excited. We took a Viking River cruise last year, and we were extremely impressed. This new ship looks fantastic, and we hope we'll feel as pampered as we did on the river cruise.

  6. Food was extremely good on our Viking River Boat cruise thus past summer, and they were very generous with the free wine and beer at lunch and dinner. We're considering a Viking Ocean cruise for 2016, and we have only great things to say about their river cruises.

  7. We got back last week from the Amsterdam to Basel cruise on the Viking Sun, and it was great. Since Viking arranged our air fare, a Viking representative met us at the Amsterdam airport. We waited a few minutes for a few passengers arriving shortly afterwards, and a Viking bus took us to our ship. Once on board, we enjoyed a light breakfast, and soon afterwards lunch was served. We couldn't get into our cabin until 3:00, but our luggage was stored while a Viking representative took us on a walking tour of Amsterdam. When we returned, we settled into our cabin, went out on our own for a canal tour, and were back in time for the first presentation about the cruise and then had dinner aroun 7:15.

We didn't see much of Basel since we had the extension in Lucerne. A Viking bus took the group going to Lucerne straight to our hotel there. Our luggage was stored, and we had a walking tour of Lucerne. At the end of our stay in Lucerne, we were taken to the airport and met by another Viking rep who got everyone to the airline desks they needed and helped everyone find their way through the airport. All of the transfers were easy, Viking handled our luggage, and we were well taken care of.
