Celebrity, in my opinion is more for the "more mature adult", while Royal Caribbean is more family oriented. The food may be a tad better, though not necessarily better tasting. AS for the guests themselves, holey moley, I met more mean, old, cranky, bitter, nasty people on Celebrity than anywhere else I have ever been too and I have sailed on Celebrity times. Far too many of them have this me, me me attitude and also a sense of entitlement. Seriously. Rude, rude, rude people, not all of them of course, but those mean old, cranky, bitter ones are the ones that left the lasting impression.

On the other hand I did meet some absolutely lovely people on Celebrity. Sadly the mean ones outnumbered the nice ones.

It is up to the guest to make certain that they have the proper documentation. Please make note of the following information taken from the RCI FAQ page.

Not all ports are the same and not all ships are as strict as others, just be prepared for a denial if you do not have these papers. Better to have them and not be asked for them than to be asked for the papers and not have them.

Family Legal Documents

Should the last names of the parent and minor child traveling with them differ, the parent is required to present the child's valid passport and visa (if required) and the child's birth certificate (original, a notarized copy or a certified copy). The name of the parent(s) and the child must be linked through legal documentation.

Different Surnames (Last Names):

If a woman has several surnames on different documents such as birth certificate and drivers license, then she must bridge the difference with other documents, such as, marriage license and/or divorce papers. The additional bridging documents must be the original or a certified or notarized copy.

Adults who are not the parent or Legal Guardian of any minor child traveling with them are required to present the child's valid passport and visa or the child's birth certificate (original, a notarized copy or a certified copy) and an original notarized letter signed by at least one of the child's parents. The notarized letter from the child's parent must authorize the traveling adult to take the child on the specific cruise, must authorize guardian to sign legal documentation/waivers for participation in any activities requiring them (i.e. Rock Climbing, Flowrider, Bungee Trampoline, Inline Skating, or Ice Skating) and must authorize the traveling adult to supervise the child and permit any medical treatment that must be administered to the child. If a non-parent adult is a Legal Guardian, the adult must present a certified certificate of Guardianship with respect to the child.

One more thing, a birth registration is NOT a birth certificate. It may not be acceptable proof of US citizenship.

AN ENHANCED DRIVERS LICENSE is acceptable proof of citizenship. This type of driver license is issued by only 5 states.

Hmm any excuse for a cruise! How about a Wii Fit cruise! Can you see all of us boarding with our wii's and boards and other wii accessories.

Me too, me too! I want to join your Wii Club! I have had my Wii since late January, used it then left for a cruise in March and again in May and it (the Wii) just sits there all alone! I have to get back to it and this sounds like a great group that inspires each other. lol I think it is so cute when the wii person comes on and says ohh is that Anniee, gee where have you been! lol I feel reprimaded!!

What is the Wii active?

I hope those activities that have beenunloced do not get locked up if there is no one using them after a while. Oh well if so I just have to get to it and unlock them once again.

I have not read all the posts, so don't know if there is a place to sign up, send someone an email or what. So would someone clue me in. I am going to let some of my friends that have Wii's know about this thread. We all need encouragement.

Although that is an article from a newspaper, I did read the actual agreement between NCL, Star and Apollo and that pretty much sounds word for word. There was a link to the actual Apollo agreement on our previous PVSA thread, but we can't access those links anymore because the thread was deleted.

Well how about a group cruise for the posters and the lurkers? Preferably and hopefully one from LA to Hawaii WITHOUT having to stop somewhere for 48 hours and not on NCL! It has been an informative thread, certainly one I have enjoyed reading.

Pardon me but I just do not understand the concept of "free".

 

You spend a minimum of a thounsand or in most cases multiple thousands of dollars on a cruise including airfare and all the extra costs associated with a cruise.

 

Now you get to go to a port of interest in a foreign country and instead of seeing that port, island or countryside you waste your day going to get this "free" charm from a retail chain store.

 

Now tell me after a cruise you have seen the inside of "x" number of Diamond International stores and nothing else. You just spent thousands of dollars to travel to that store to get a "free" charm.

 

Now please explain to me how that charm cost you nothing and is truly free.

Perhaps the words " at no additional cost" woud be more suitable. I like the idea of a a charm from each port. I am not into buying tons of souvenirs, so the "free" charms are a perfect idea.
