  1. We are on Fascination in the morning. Glad it made it to port without issues. I'm expecting tomorrow and Friday to be pretty rough. After that I expect it will be ok. Maybe Freeport will get cancelled and we will head to Key West instead... I'm not a Freeport fan.

He hasn't made it into port yet. She's off the coast of St. Augustine right now (about 40-50 miles away). I just talked to my brother around 10:30pm CST and he had no idea it was now a Cat 3. He assured me the Captain had a Plan B in case they can't get under the bridge due to high seas and clearance. I asked what Plan B was - because inquiring minds wanna know! I'm still wondering.

If they make it into port on time you should be good for embarkation. If anything they will want to get beyond the Daines Bridge as quickly as possible and get out to sea. Ships in port during a hurricane is not a good thing.

I hope you have a wonderful, uneventful cruise. And if you have to give up a port - I hope it's Freeport. I'm not a fan either. I'm cruising on her Thanksgiving week and can't wait!

    Bon Voyage!

  2. Even without any sort of direct hit, it is quite likely to be a "rocky ride".

My brother is on the Fascination right now. Today was their last sea day poking along headed to port in the morning. He said they announced earlier they had a wind swell and a hurricane swell coming up from behind. The Captain put it in "outrun the hurricane" mode and hauled butt to get north and closer to the coast. He said they had 6+ foot swells and the boat was rolling. And around 6pm CST were about 10-12 hours ahead of schedule. They are currently hovering 30 miles off the coast about 2 hours from Jax port where they will stay the night. Thankfully they got the ship in gear and got outta Dodge. He said all was well currently (about 7pm CST). At first they weren't sure if they were going to be able to get into port in the morning or hang out another day at sea, but he thinks all will be well and they'll disembark on time.

I'm loving Carnival's new social media package he bought - because that's how I'm getting my info directly from the ship. For $5 a day.

    Safe Travels to all!

  3. Hey, Sun Lover, I have a cove booked on the Dream for May, 2014. You do need to look at the deck above them so that you know what you will be under. I am mid ship, under the Crimson dining room, so I shouldn't need to worry about noise. Some are under the Galley and might be noisy. I have read great reviews and am looking forward to sailing in them.

I ran across this thread as I was searching for other ships that have cove balconies. I cruised in October 2013 on the Dream. Loved, loved, LOVED the cove balcony. We ran into a couple of storms during our 7 days with 6-8 ft waves and while the others were stuck inside I sat outside on my balcony watching the storm. Without getting a drop of water on me. The lifeboats above blocked the blowing rain, along with the full sun during the day. Like your upcoming cruise, we were mid-ship but between both dining rooms. Nice and quiet. If you're a sun lover it may not be for you, but it was always nice and cool with a little shade. In no way was our view hindered by the cove balcony. We actually did a cabin crawl and got to see a regular balcony and a spa balcony. It really looked like the cove balconies are just a little bit larger. Plus more private - when I was sitting out there drinking my coffee and breakfast each morning, no one could see me in my jammies. :o Unlike a some of the other balconies that overlook the decks below. The Dream is moving from Port Canaveral to New Orleans next spring . . . and since I'm researching a cruise for next fall - a ship with a cove balcony will be high on my list.

  4. Your pictures are just WOW. I know there are probably more eloquent words to use but they can't even begin to describe your amazing talent. Halfway through your review I had to stop reading to wander over to your website. Again, just WOW. Last fall we got our feet wet so to speak on a 4 day cruise aboard the Fascination. This October my mother and I are cruising aboard the Dream on our 2nd cruise. After spending hours reading your review and drooling over your photographs I'm even more excited than I already was. I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your review, but am so glad I did. Well . . . except for the part where I will now be spending even more money because we just HAVE to include the Spa Package thanks to your review. Truthfully I was a goner upon seeing your initial pictures. And your eventual review just put me over the top. Thank you for your labor of love in editing the pictures and your awesome review. I'm just hoping the ones I take of our cruise will be half as good. Oh . . . and I'm one of the boys through the windshield followers. Forget the technical mumbo jumbo . . . that shot was simply amazing. You captured a moment in time that can never be repeated. Looking through the window (windshield), you gave us all a look at the soul, innocence and lives of those two boys. Priceless.

For now I'm heading on over to drool over your review and photographs from the Breeze.
