I keep looking for WHICH zip line company was the one where this accident occurred. NOWHERE can I find that answer. I've looked at dozens of media reports and none of them will say what the name of the zip line business is or anything specific about it. I find that to be unconscionable reporting and likely a concerted obfuscation of the facts by those in charge in Honduras.
I am headed to Roatan in a couple of months and was planning to book a zip line tour this week. I had been researching but just hadn't booked yet. Now I am not sure what I'm going to do. I really wanted to do a jungle zip.
I am interested in finding out the tour operator too! I am a TA and have clients booked next week on Pirates of the Caribbean zip! No info anywhere! I also have clients inquiring! This is a big deal and should be transparent about the operator!

No, We are booked on a private tour.

Is It difficult to get ashore by 9:30 for a tour to Lamani? I know there are tenders there.

Smoking areas on Caribbean Princess?

I have never been on a ship this big! We port in Nassau at 7am and have an excursion at 9:15 (non RCCL). When should we plan on going down to disembark to get to our meeting place on time (five minutes from pier)? TIA

Was that taxi rate one way per person? Pretty pricey for 2 ppl to go to the beach! $60 US dollars round trip?
-
I called my TA and she got cabin changed to #8608! There are cabins above and below. Should be a better cabin! Thanks for all your help!

:confused:Thank you for the info! I saw that, but didn't think you could change your cabin once assigned!

I booked a balcony guarantee for RCCL Liberty the Seas. It was stated that I may have an obstructed view. What are the cabin #s of the obstructed view balconies and what is the obstruction? Thanks in advance!

A travel agent can usually always get some added incentives and a lower price. Usually, they just charge a $25 service charge. I don't think, I have ever booked direct and have been on many cruises.

We spent a lot on our last cruise, Got final bill, checked out okay. Got the CC bill and a separate charge for $76 is made on embarkation day. Did not make any purchases last day at sea that weren't accounted for. How can I find out what this charge was for? You are at there mercy, when you don't have any documentation or receipt. The cruise line could you an itemized invoice. And no, didn't steal towels or robes!

txwildflower-You should have either an e-mail or paper confirmation with a reservation number for your open booking. Or, if you had booked the cruise you were on through a travel agent, that TA should have received notification of the reservation number.
Thank you and will have to do some tracking. I charged it to my CC that was the same as our S&s. We met with the ambassador and she had us fill out form and deposit it in receptacle.

I wonder what happens to the ones folks are already holding?

With Priceline you don't have as many advanced clues as Hotwire. With Priceline you can start at the main page and search for hotels on your date in San Juan, it will bring up a bunch of hotels and their prices. You can then look at the betterbidding page that has the list of what star category the hotels are in and then see what categories you want to bid on. You then go to the bid for a better price, (up to half off), page on Priceline by clicking the link. Once you fill in what star category you want and what area, you will then be prompted for your credit card info. All you will know is that you will get one of the hotels in the star category you selected. If your bid is accepted, you are committed and your card charged. If your bid is not accepted, then you either have to wait 24 hours or change your bid, (either star category or area), this keeps people from bidding super-low and going up in dollar increments all day long. Now in Puerto Rico we are lucky, it is what they call a free bid zone because Priceline only has resorts in 2 areas, San Juan and Rio-Grande-Humacao, where the Wyndham and the El Conquistador are the options. So if you select resort only, you can just up your bid a little and add any area except Rio-Grande-Humacao and you have another bid.
Hotwire generally doesn't have as good bargains in San Juan, but with Hotwire you can have a better idea what hotel you are getting, especially with the help of betterbidding. You go to the main page and select your dates and city and hotwire will come back with a list of hotels with their star category and the hotels various amenities. Usually the amenities list will really narrow it down, like casino, laundry, on the beach, etc. You can then post your dates and the hotel facts on betterbidding and they will give you their best guess, which is usually correct. One little trick they will also ask you is to go back and select the same city and dates, but this time select the package option, which includes flights, you can just set up a fictional one like jfk to San Juan, (SJU). When you do it this way, it actually lists the actual hotel and its list of amenities. I just did this and was able to tell that I could have gotten the Intercontinental for $119 a night.
Well, hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions.
I have been trying to get this hotel for 12/13 through priceline. I don't have much experince with hotwire, but will try this method. How many stars is intercontinental? Thanks

I just booked the Sheraton Old San Juan for 12/19/08-12/21/08 and 12/28/08-12/30/08 at $99 per night! List price was almost $250/night everywhere else. Should be good for 2 days before and after my cruise.
What star hotel did you bid on to get in OSJ. We are going on 12/5 and 12/14. Thanks!

I was going through the excursions today and noticed this course on our cruise in December. I know the two dives are in St. Maartin (Mon) and take 4.5 hours. They said it was a 12 hr course and the rest would be taught onboard. The ship leaves at 10pm on Saturday and we port in St. Thomas on Sunday. Does anyone know how the onboard portion works? Thanks a bunch, my DH has been wanting to get certified!

We are going to san juan in Dec. Continental has flights leaving CRP at 6:35am (2 1/2 hr layover in houston) or 8:14 (58 min layover) We leave houston at 10:10. I know dh and I can make it terminal wise as the gates are close, but will our luggage make it? DH wants to take the early flight, but I am not a morning person. Thanks for info!

Cruise ship passenger killed on zip line?
in Roatan
Posted
Good afternoon,
No, the accident that caused the fatality did NOT happen at Pirates of the Caribbean Canopy. This is easily proven by the fact that the excursion was sold ONBOARD the Allure of the Seas cruise ship and we currently and have NEVER sold our excursions onboard ANY cruise ships.
The accident occurred on CARIBE SKY Zip Line operated and sold onboard various ships by MC Tours owned by the Italian Native Ariana Polengui.
We take the safety of our customers and staff seriously and for this reason we have TWO separate 3/4” steel cables and the harnesses that our customers use has TWO separate straps that uses TWO separate pullies that then connects to each 3/4” steel cables for MAXIMUM safety!
We are waiting for the oficial report in hopes that the authorities will name the owner/ operator responsible!
We appreciate your concern and welcome any other questions you may have.
Thank you and have a lovely day,
