I have been on 6 SS cruises. I love to dress up (not long but more cocktail) and I do do most nights regardless of the code. Not OTT but definitely not casual. I never feel overdressed. It’s a lovely opportunity that you don’t get on beach holidays. My husband wore a dj for our first 2 cruises but for our forthcoming Baltic cruise he will wear a dark jacket, trousers and tie and we will eat in the main restaurant as we have fond on previous formal nights,

We are doing this cruise in July and I have booked a 2 day shore excursion with T J Travel - it was very reasonable and had excellent reviews.

Are Silverseas still providing these as we have yet to receive ours and sail in just over 2 weeks? We can download one from their server but it is many pages and non personalised.

I shall definitely check out the Gallant trip, sounds really good. Thanks Tonya for your reply too. I also am super excited. It is my third Silverseas voyage, I think you will really enjoy it. Hope to see you on board - listen out for an English accent!

Thank you all for your advice. Have checked out the Alaska forum and have also booked us on the Neats Bay trip. Hope we are lucky. I have found a few independent tours, they are about $25-50 cheaper pp but wood hate to miss the boat (or ship as my husband insists)!

Have just booked Silver Shadow for 21 August - ultra excited :) Would like to see whales and also bear catching salmon. (i know that the latter is not guaranteed) Wondered if anyone could recommend some independent tour operators for these 2 activities - probably Juneau and Ketchikan. Also any other recommendations for activities would be very much appreciated.
