Curious how the Princess community feels about the whole Love Boat theme and is it really helping Princess? I'm probably in the the minority but I'm finding the whole Love Boat thing a little tacky and wondering if it really is a good marketing choice for Princess to the extent it has and continues to be promoted. I've cruised with Princess several times and do so based on the staff, service, and overall experience. However, if I had never cruised Princess I certainly wouldn't be persuaded to do so because of the Love Boat theme. Actually, the whole Love Boat thing would likely have me looking at other cruise lines such as Celebrity, HAL, etc. While I appreciate the historical connection Princess has to Love Boat, I'm left wondering if it's time to move on so Princess can best market and compete moving forward.
I am not a fan, and apparently I am not the only one. The show has been cancelled.

We were able to get a printed one. Ask your cabin attendant.
That is what I plan to do, is request they leave one every night for me.

What I find really bizarre is I’m traveling solo and the only way you can reserve with a request to share is if you choose a dining time of 6:20 or earlier. I previously had always done late traditional which would be later.
What am I missing here. I am solo and enjoy dining with a larger group of people so you get to make new friends. I have no desire to dine alone. Is it going to be a problem?

Thousands of people (I would bet) want TD back, but Princess does not care what traditional cruisers want.
What is TD?

Hi everyone,
We’re ensconced in a room at the Crown Plaza LA Harbor Hotel the night before boarding the Emerald Princess tomorrow. I just published the first blog post of this 16 day vacation, and hope you’ll cruise vicariously with us.
http://pescadoamarillo.blogspot.com/2021/10/its-time-for-another-cruise.html
The cruise you’re taking right now is the exact cruise we have booked currently for 2023. I’ve never been on the emerald and enjoyed reading some of your earlier post. We’re currently booked with a rear facing balcony and was just wondering if you’ve ever used the back of the ship balconies? We thought with the Panama Canal cruise it would be worth being able to sit back there and thoroughly enjoy going through the locks. I am also interested in any suggestions at the ports of call that you may have for us.

We're booked on the April 3rd sailing with a week in Barbodos before. So hoping that the cruise will go, if not, we'll extend another week in Barbados. It's a great itinerary, we did something similiar on Carnival Fascination many years ago out of Puerto Rico and it's a much different vibe than the normal Eastern/Western caribbean.
I feel that if they start up in December then the season has a good chance of completing. Interestingly all the April cruises have disappeared from the website, but the 10 night repositioning to Galveston still shows as leaving on the 24th April.
There are a group of six of us that are booked on the one week trip the week before leaving March 27 and then returning April 3 in which we’re going right back out for a second week since the ports of call are not the same. Really thought when we made this booking We wouldn’t be dealing with the Covid issues, Didn’t know that the cruise ship would give us a free test on board but I am concerned that hearing that April cruises I’m not showing up at all. Final payments due end of December so I guess at that point will need to make a decision. So need this trip based on all the cancellations we’ve had since 2019.

If I'm the organizer of the slot pull I use my cruise card in the machine and make sure that there is no $ on the card. The last one that I did without thinking I withdrew my card to put into the bag with other cards to be drawn out and the $ on the machine was automatically put on my card. Everyone chuckled when this happened.
If you wind up with winnings to split with other people you take your card to the cashier cage and they will cash it out.
Tom:)
Hi Tom, It looks like I may have to organize the slot pull, I have volunteers to help assist but no one stepping up to run it. Can you please help !
Do you have a spread sheet you used to keep track of the winnings?
Do you have to select the machine before the slot pull? Doesn't that allow a crew member to 'adjust' the machine, do you know what I mean?
Does everyone put their own money into the machine, in other words the person playing puts all their money in $15 or $20 and then plays 5 pulls at $3.00 each.... or do you load the machine will everyone's money and then you keep track of what each player earns?
How do you divide the money?
I need HELP !

We are arriving in Amsterdam on May11th and have reservations at the Carlton in Harrlem. I understand that it is about 30 min from the airport.
We are traveling with alot of luggage and looking for the best way to reach our hotel. Any recommendation for services that we might use?
We chose the hotel due to the reasonable cost as compared to Amsterdam.

Thank you for the great review and pictures. My one concern is customs when we arrive.
I have heard from many people this is a nightmear! I have cruised from many US ports and many ports out of the country and NEVER has any issues with long lines getting off a ship. This is my only worry so I don't miss my plane.
I did a lot of research and heard the best shopping is in Cozumel but not at the port you have to go into town. Most of what you buy right at ports can cost you more...will be interested to find out. Its the only port I plan to make any purchases at.
Glad you and your mom had a good trip together. My mother and I have taken a couple of trips together and they are my best memories with her.

Can you explain what the cute sign was about? We always do something for outside door so our room stands out, and am curious. For a Christmas cruise we took we really did up the outside door with battery lights, garland and a Xmas tree on the door, plus a holiday welcome mat!

Couldn't agree with you more. I prefer the small 2000 to mid size ships. The "monster ships" are becoming the destination. So why don' they just park the ship out to sea, and let everyone play on it for a week. Could cut down the costs since they won't have to use so much fuel. Also a lot more difficult to really form close friendships while on board, with so many people. With 5000 plus passengers I hope nothing serious ever happens while at sea.

WOW...what memories! My very first cruise was on Princess, some 30 yrs ago and Charo was the entertainment for one evening, and we were chosen to sit at the table in which she was a guest. It was so hard to eat dinner, because she kept us laughing through out the meal. Can't imagine how old she is now.

HI Eileen and Jim
Where are you coming from? Have you ever made this trip before? I am from California and my girlfriend is from GA, we will fly over and meet in Sydney before the cruise starts.

Hi Anthony and Debbie and Happy New Year!
The Christmas and New Year Cruise was wonderful and my Mother truly enjoyed herself. I haven't sailed on Princess for 20 plus years and while the ship was nice, there are definately things about Royal and Celebrity I like much more. I think Princess did a great job with the entertainment, but their cabins are smaller and closest terrible small. Their dinning rooms have low ceilings and are not open like Royal and Celebrity. The weather was great about 75 degrees the entire time in Hawaii. A lot of changes since I was there last time, but we had a great vacation.
Lets talk about our new cruise this year! My girlfriend from Georgia is going to sail with me on this trip, we have been meeting for one cruise a year for the past 7 years. We are planning on flying into Sydney hopefully 3-4 days before we sail. I would appreciate suggestions on what we should see. I know Australia is a very large country and we have to be reasonable on what we can expect to see. I want to see the Zoo that is on the list. I am hoping we can fly out on Sat. (your Sun) arriving on Monday, then have Mon, Tues and Wed, then part of Thursday before we sail. Since you also know the North part of New Zealand, suggestions on what is worth seeing?
I am the planner of our group, and don't always take the cruise lines excursions, sometimes I can do better on planning our activities and save us money. Now that this cruise is past me I can start planning our Nov cruise.
I hope we can get some others to sign up.

Welcome Debbie and Anthony! My name is Karon(from CA) and girlfriend Suzanne (from GA) are booked on this cruise. We love cruising and have had this cruise booked since earlier this year. We have wanted to do this cruise for some time. I LOVE Celebrity, they are one of the best lines. We usually cruise on Royal which is very very nice, but Celebrity is a step up and you won't be disappointed. I have been crusing since I was in my 20's before it caught on. I am leaving this coming Friday for a 15 night cruise on Princess leaving from San Francisco to Mexico and then on to Hawaii, to sail all the islands then home to SF. I have never done a Christmas/News Years cruise so excited to try it. Where are you coming from ? Happy Holidays

We are planning a cruise for 2014 and it will start in Austrialia, so we would like to fly over a few days early so we can see more than what the cruise will not allow time for. Any suggestions would be great. We would like to stay at a hotel not far from the port, so we can easily access the ship when its time to board.

I have to assume you live so near SF to have so many trips going thru SF
I have to figure out how to get to the port from Fremont. No one likes to drive into the city.
