  1. By kinda popular demand, this is Tanya and I in Alaska about 12 years ago when I was stationed at Eielson AFB. Unfortunately you will need to add about 40 lbs each, a few more inches of hair length for me and some wrinkles to picture what we look like today.

Giving a shout out for the mention of Eielson AFB. I lived there for 2.5 years in the late 60's when I was in 1st - 3rd grade.

Thank you for your service Mr. Fizzlewicket!

    BTW...AWESOME review!!

  2. So, on our last cruise we got to talking to some fellow Tennesseans and noticed one of the ladies had her foot in a cast. In asking about that we find out that she had slipped on some spilled beer on a marble floor and broke her ankle, on the 1st day of the cruise. She told us that she and her husband were sharing a cabin with another couple and that they were thankfully able to get refunds on the excursions they had already paid for.

Later on, DH and I were talking and wondering what Carnival would do for this passenger. We both agreed that she shouldn't have to pay one cent on any medical costs, but what about the cost of their cruise? Because of Carnival's negligent this lady broke her foot and was not able to continue her vacation as she had planned. And what of the other couple vacationing with them?

    What do y'all think?

  3. I was also on the Sunshine last Thursday when they had to evacuate the passenger due to health issues. (I heard heart attack or a stroke among the rumors) I HATE it had to even happen, but two thumbs up to Jaime Dee and the rest of the crew for their actions. We were kept informed of what and when things were going on and to actually watch the US Coast Guard helicopter work with our ships crew in the evacuation process was very impressive. Mind you, the ship did not come to a complete stop.

We drove to Port Canaveral, so departing later than expected wasn't an issue for us.

  4. I LOVE Zulily!!! 9:00AM dang near every day I'm logging in to check out the day's new offerings. As another poster stated, refer to the size charts for measurements and such. And most items are final sales and not returnable.

We're almost 100% packed for vacation and from Zulily in my suitcase is 2 bathing suites, 2 cover-ups, 2 pair of shoes, a top and 2 eye shadow compacts. Oh, and the tote bag that I'm carrying.

    Happy Shopping!!! :)

  5. Again, many THANKS for all the comments!

Next month I will celebrate 35 years with my employer and for the first 17 years I worked with the public and HAD to dress up. At that time of my life I was single and enjoyed dressing up(and the shopping! :p). As I've grown older, I've grown VERY fond of the casual lifestyle. And thankfully, my current position allows me to dress as such. I do still enjoy dressing up on occasion.

Here is the dress I will wear on the 1st dress up night. I have white strappy heels, and some bling that matches the dress. And the best accessory will be the DH in a turquoise dress shirt, tie and black pants.

My mouth is already watering for that first Twilight Zone, which BTW would match this dress! :p:D

  6. Many THANKS for all the replies! :)

I will be cruising on the Carnival Sunshine and the 'casual' comment was made by the female of the couple we're vacationing with. The 1st dress up outfit is much dressier and coordinated with DH's outfit, I think we will be more than fine by anyone's standards. And frankly, this red dress is good enough for me, and DH, and that's really all that matters.

Vacation starts this coming Tuesday at 5:30PM and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

  7. There have been 4 adults in our balcony cabin during our past 2 cruises and nothing is changing for our cruise in a couple weeks. Two twin beds can be pushed together to make a king bed, the sofa can be made into a bed and the pullman out of the ceiling about said sofa is the 4th bed. I have slept in all the above mentioned at one time or another and slept like a baby in each of them.

  8. Discovered packing cubes prior to last years cruise and I won't be leaving home without them. I have 3 sets of different sizes from ebags. If you use e-bates, they usually have a good cash back deal on them.

I used the rolling method shown in the above video on hubby's t-shirts and was able to get ELEVEN of them in one medium size cube.

    :)

  9. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has replied.

I too get my meds in 90 day supplies, from a mail order pharmacy. I take a total of 10 different meds. The insulin I'm taking does not need to be refrigerated. There is a prescription label on the box it comes in with my name as well as my physicians name. I already have all the oral meds in their little baggies(aren't they the neatest things?). I will carry the pouch with my testing supplies as well as the insulin and syringes with me. To be on the safe side, I will print out a list of all my meds from that mail order pharmacy and call it good. We're driving to Cocoa Beach, so there is no airport security to fool with. I also read on Carnival's website that I can ask our Steward for a container for used syringes.

16 days til we head south and 18 til we're cruising the Sunshine. I am soooooooooo ready!!!

  10. I didnt take a picture (for obvious reasons) but they offered massages right on the beach... only thing was they were not too segregated from the group. So you heard kids yelling, people walking back and forth from the bar/food area. I doubt you had a real relaxing time, but we heard it was very cheap. Something like $15 for 30mins. Not bad if your ok with that.

As we were catching rays a coconut seller came by selling them for I believe $3, I figured why not try it....

So I got one for the boys and I to try... Note to self I dont like coconut juice. The Skipper and Maryann make it look so delish, on Gilligan's Island . I ended up cracking it open to get the fresh meat which was good.

I made the boys all take a walk on the pier near us while some girls were on it also. Figured we could get a few pics together for our Xmas cards this year!

They had a bar made out of old boat where drinks were included. Sodas and water for the kids, Rum Punch for the adults (well anyone could have either really, they dont card LOL) At lunch they brought out the local beer for everyone to have if you would like.

We have a bottle of this rum from our All Inclusive trip last year.. its not a great rum lol. But it works in a punch. They are small cups though, so I would just ask for 2drinks at a time, then chug one at the bar and have them refill it. I tipped at the beginning and the "boatenders" became my besties!!

A while later they stated lunch was served. It was a HUGE spread. Chicken, potatoes, veggies, bread, beans, rice, plantains and pasta. My boys who are human garbage disposables filled up, and they had plenty for 2nds for our very large group. It was really good, and helped fill our bellies after snorkeling and drinking LOL.

NEXT UP: Go speed racer Go!

My gang done this excursion last year and it's been our favorite by far. The combination of the beautiful surroundings AND the free flowing rum made my 30 minute massage very relaxing. It even rained while I was getting it which just added to the experience. If I remember right, this excursion was $65 PP and worth every penny.

BTW...Jack's Shack at Grand Turk is great too. VERY laid back. We just sat at an umbrella'd table on the deck and drank. Tried the jerk chicken which was delicious and I was able to get my furr baby fix with all the dogs and cats wondering around. We'll be revisiting next month.

    LOVING your review!!!

  11. You know when you get off the elevator and turn the corner and there is a door to a cabin? We were behind that door last year and didn't have any issues with it. And it's SO CONVENIENT that we're behind the same door, different ship, in three weeks.

    :p

  12. My third cruise is coming up next month and on the past 2 cruises, I've had no problem with having my medications in small, daily zip locks. (I think it's CRAZY to have to tote all those prescription bottles). This year I will also be traveling with syringes and Lantus(insulin). I'm thinking it may be a good idea to have some kind of proof that I need these two items. I use mail order prescription service and was wondering if a print off of my medications would suffice.

    :)

  13. We will be arriving late Wednesday evening and boarding the Sunshine on Friday. Other than a trip for beverages, we don't have any plans for Thursday. Any recommendations as to what to do and/or where to eat? We're staying at Comfort Inn & Suites on N Atlantic Ave and will have our own transportation.

  14. We took our very first cruise last year, on the Carnival Freedom. Had so much fun that we spent 8 days this past May on the Carnival Breeze. We're HOOKED...with plans in the works now to cruise 8 days next June on the Carnival Sunshine!

Not once have we felt unsafe or in any kind of danger while cruisin with Carnival.

  15. when you consider yourself disgusted/offended/endangered by the lawful behaviour of some of your fellow patrons at a commercial establishment you frequent, you have options:

    a) get over it

    b) take your business elsewhere

    c) attempt to convince/threaten/cajole the business into believing your are a more important/profitable/nicer client than the one(s) that offend you.

    d) start/contribute to another smoking thread on CC

    ^^^^LOVE THIS!!

I HATE liver...all Liver! But I'm not so full of myself that I expect every restaurant I patronize to take it off their menu. There's always other options on those menus.

For the record, I AM a smoker. But...I only smoke in designated areas. Like voyageur9 said above, if you find yourself in one of those areas, the ship is big enough to find a non smoking area.

  16. Good GRIEF!!!! Wouldn't you like to buy some people for what they're worth and sell them for what they think they're worth?!?!?

I have absolutely no problem with any crew member enjoying themself in "passenger" areas. Most times I'd rather be around them than some of the selfrighteous passengers.

  17. We were in GT on the 12th and spent our time there at one of the deck tables (no charge) at Jack's. Our waiter was friendly, drinks were good and the jerk chicken was DELICIOUS! We're animal lovers so we loved the dogs and cats. The atmosphere was very laid back and casual.

If you prefer a rowdier surrounding, M-ville is the place for you. It was ROCKIN when we walked thru on our way back to the ship.
