  1. We just got off the Anthem on Sunday. We have a 3 and a 6 year old. There weren't a ton of kids on our 12 night cruise so RCCl had put the 9-11 year olds in with the 6-8 year old group. My daughter is a small 6 year old.... needless to say the noise level and games were just not her thing. I figured I'd ask and with a little convincing (even though staff told me for 3 days In a row that she wasn't participating), we bumped her into the 3-5 year old group with her brother. They both did great then!! So it's definitely possible.

  2. That Horizon TA offers a rather unique opportunity for those who would like to cruise to Europe and back without flying internationally. It is so early in the season that one could do an eastbound TA and catch the Horizon back. the only thing holding me back from working it out is that we are not pool people - now in our 70s. One of the things we anticipate on longer cruises are the enrichment lecturers, and on our other Carnival TA (Dream 2009) there were non to fill the many sea days. EM

Can someone point me in the right direction on this cruise? Particularly a cruise that would go to Europe to take the Horizon back?

  3. We just recently went on an excursion with Liz. We pre-booked without paying online prior to cruise. $20 a person. We did the Reggae Beach day. They met us at the dock and we drove in open air jeeps. Our driver was Hilton and he was great. We stopped at Timothy Hill for wonder views and pictures. Beer was 3 for $5.00 here! Onto the beach for a great day. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. $15. Very cheap but great excursion! Will do again some day!

Wonderful! That's the one we are doing! Thanks for the positive feedback :)

  4. My impression is that it is a shuttle bus of some sort. This package is all arranged through Trinity Reservations, not the Ramada, so you should contact them. I have used trinity before at another EWR hotel without transportation and I have actually stayed at the Ramada property when it was a Holiday Inn.

Do you have good directions to the hotel? It can be a little tricky to find. Would you come from Exit 14 of the NJ Turnpike? Hopefully GPS is now better than it was several years ago.

Thank you!! It let us pick times, that's why I thought maybe it was private cars.

We've stayed at the Wyndham. I was under the impression it was close to that? Maybe I was just hoping.

We will be crossing at 1000 islands and south.

I am open to any and all suggestions for best way to get there if you have any. I would prefer to avoid the actual cities and stay on big highways as long as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help :)

  5. Hi tiptopz! I'm also on the Anthem on Feb 7 and doing the cruise package at the Ramada. I'm anxious to see first hand how it works. Friends have used it and been very happy. Cross your fingers that there is no snow event!

Do you happen to know what they bring us in? A car? Shuttle bus? I have children who need booster seats. Obviously this isn't necessary if a bus but in a car, I'm wondering if I should call hotel to arrange now or?

Fingers and toes are crossed for no snow from here to there!! We have winter tires and 4x4 as we are used to the snow (driving from northern Ontario) so I'm not too concerned but a snow free trip is definitely the hope! :)

Do you recal the cost for the car service? Last year we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ridgefield Park but they offered a package with car service , just trying to gauge the cost this June

We went with a "luxury". Wasn't that fancy but it was about $70. I can't remember for the life of me what company we used though. It was an app on my phone, tracked when the car arrived etc. Very reliable and right on time.

  7. Love the positivity. Our last cruise there were so many people complaining about minor things. We always go with the "it's vacation, it's what you make of it!". Nothing is ever perfect but it sure makes a difference how you handle it!

Can't wait till we hop on the Anthem with our kids in less than 3 weeks! :)

  8. We drove twice from Northern Ontario to cruise with NCL. Crossed at Thousand Islands.

We stayed at the Wyndham Garden in Newark for the 21 day free parking.

Both times we stayed a night in Newark then second in Manhattan before we embarked the ships.

First time we took the shuttle to the airport and took the train into manhattan.

Second time we hired a car.

Third time (next month), we are staying at the Ramada as we purchased a package through Trinityreservations that offers free parking and free round trip shuttle to our cruise port (were in Cape Liberty this time).

  9. Stay over in Newark. Opens many options for "free parking" with one night hotel stay. Never going to get 6 people in one room though. We've used the Wyndham Garden twice because they offer 21 day free parking. This time we're using the Ramada as it also offers transportation to the cruise port (were sailed RCCL this time) the two times we used Wyndham we sailed NCL. Check out trinityreservations to see if they have any packages for manhattan! :)

  10. We got an email in July for our Feb cruise. Here's what it said about the change. "The port in St. Lucia has not completed the upgrades to the pier necessary for Anthem of the Seas to call there, and will not complete the construction before the ship’s scheduled call.

Because of this, it is necessary to cancel the port call to St. Lucia. We have made alternate arrangements to replace the port and we are excited that Anthem of the Seas will now call to Fort de France, Martinique, on the same day, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. "

  11. What's considered fully trained? My little guy just turned 3 on Dec 30.... dec 31st I told him he was three and no more diapers. He's been doing incredibly well with no accidents at all for the past week. However, he has trouble getting up on the toilet and pulling his underwear and pants back up. Will they assist with this? Maybe he will do it himself in the next month [emoji23]

  12. Hi there. Just wondering if anyone knows if children are allowed to enjoy spa services on the ship? I told my six year old daughter that we could go get our nails done on the ship and have a "girls day" but when trying to book online it says something about having to be 18. This has to be the case for only some services, no?
