  1. All my previous cruises I've had fixed dining. With open seating I understand that I can go to dinner anytime between the time period. Do I have an assigned table or am I seated somewhere when I arrive each night? DH and I enjoy a table for two at dinner - is this possible to get each night?

You don't have an assigned table but can request a table for two when you arrive or make a reservation for a table for two, or even a specific table for two, ahead of time. My husband and I did just this and we dined at a table for two every night with no problem.

  2. I agree with the pp who said that you're not going to get "great" food on a mass market cruise line. You may get an enjoyable dining experience, but if you want more than that, you're going to have to pay. I sailed HALs Westerdam in March of '09. The food was fine. Not great, sometimes good, but most often fine. One night I had the great pleasure of attending the Chef's Table dinner for the bargain price of $129 - it was easily one of the best meals I have ever had. Now, the same chef whose recipes were prepared that night wrote the recipes (or chose them) for all the rest of the cruise. The difference was the food was prepared for a dinner party of 20, not 2000.... It's all relative!

  3. We always get priority because Ruth is disables but that is a very high price to pay for a little time saved. Trust us we would rather stand in line and be well than always bumped to the front of the line.

We would like to take a minute here to thank everyone that has ever stood there and said nothing or never complained when a handicapped person is moved ahead of you in line. We really appreciate it and are sometimes embarassed by it.

If someone complains because a disabled person needs to go first, they are really, really, human wreckage. Like most any mother, the only things in the world I'd trade my health for are my children. I can't imagine someone begrudging someone else priority based on a disability. However, I'd also bet I'll get some responses giving me the a peek into the darkside of humanity...

  4. The Disney Magic - pretty much everything except the cheese tray and Mickey Bars from room service were just.... bad. It was as though the chef had never heard of seasoning. I enjoy somewhat adventurous eating as well as the old stand-by's, but there was just nothing doin' on this cruise. And, I LOVE Disney - just would never cruise them again as I've gotten better meals at McDonald's!

  5. Hi All-

My husband and I are sailing FOS for our 10th anniversary next year. Granted, we have a long time to go, but I do have a few questions already!

We're sailing an Eastern route out of Port Caneveral. Does anyone know which nights will be formal? Also, are adult only areas enforced? Finally, how is the island Cococay? I imagining blissful, but it's always good to have a heads up!

    Thanks!

    Erin
