  1. Only transportation I have ever taken between the ship and mainland is a ferry. Never bothered me, but many people complain of seasickness. It can be a rough ride.

Would recommend doing a ship's excursion. On more than one occasion I have seen the ship wait for their own excursion, but others left behind. It's an all day excursion and you need a reliable bus/transport, and ferry can be packed and sell out of tickets.

I'm leaning this way because of that very reason but still want to check out all the options. I was thinking about a plane, but most of the group doesn't want to spend that kind of money which makes it a little cost prohibitive for the remaining 2.

  2. I read a review by one person who said about a Tulum excursion, " The bus ride was comfortable and the high speed boat between Cozumel and the main land was fun."

I have searched and searched and can find nothing that includes high speed transport between Cozumel and the main land. Does anyone know anything about this?

  3. I made reservations using the Rewards Advance Purchase program and I was charged $283. I thought that I had made the reservation for 4 people but somewhere along the way I ended up having only made it for 1. When I got there I was charged an additional $58 for the additional 3 people. I never entered a room, just checked in and out at the same time and received the tickets which you then exchange for bands in Atlantis. Still a lot cheaper than buying the tickets direct. This was in October 2012. We took a taxi which dropped us off at the Comfort Suites and we walked over to Atlantis. $4 pp.

It was worth it for us just to have the experience. I think we probably arrived a little before 10 and we left around 3:30 to be sure we got over the bridge since that had been posed as a potential problem around 4:00. They ask for ID and boarding pass when you go back through the gate so be sure you have both. That was the only port we went through where they asked for ID.

Loved the lazy river. It's much longer than any lazy river that I've ever been in before and it takes you right up to some of the slides. We had a blast!

  4. I just called. We're going to be there in October and the total came to $406 for 4 people. :( But it's still cheaper than booking through the ship. We arrive on the October 15th. There are two other ships, one before and one after.

I went online (http://www.comfortsuites.com) and joined the Choice Privileges and then paid for the advance booking (more than 45 days out) for 4 people. The total came to $283 for 4 people. With the room I get tickets to Atlantis water park.
