Hello everyone,
I've been on CC doing some research for my upcoing cruise on Azamara's Journey, I found this thread and since I live in San Francisco I wanted to say hello and ask if anyone has cruised with Azamara, what did you think of it?
My partner and I are scheduled on the 5/5/08 Journey out of Venice, 11 nights to Barcelona. There is a Roll Call already going and I've posted one for LGBT but so far it seems we are it!!??
I'm looking forward to seeing some ships occupy Pier35 again, maybe meet for drinks next door and send the ships off properly?

"I was on that fateful, memorable cruise w/DESTCRZ. So was Cruiseone2003 (David). "
Ah the Celebrity Summit cruise via the Panama Canal, aka the Summitini cruise.....what a fun adventure. I will never forget the party the night before we transited the canal and the day trip to Isla Tortuga out of Isla Tortuga (Costa Rica) was awesome.
Hello everyone, allow me to re-introduce myself, name is David, my partner Terry and I live in SF and work from home. We are in the travel biz and I got to meet The Beav and Destcrz on this particular cruise.
My partner and I are leaving for Boston this Friday for a two day tour of the city then on Sunday I board RCI's Enchantment of the Seas for a 7night cruise up the New England coast and Eastern Canada. It's a working cruise actually which I am still trying to figure how am I supposed to get any work done on a cruise? I'm considering showing up with a big ole Mimosa for any morning seminars!
Hope to meet everyone at the next SF get together, maybe near Pier 35 the next time a ship is leaving port?
Take care everyone.

Thanks for your good wishes guys! :)
If anyone is the slightest bit interested in a Cruise Critic LGBT Group cruise - I've started a thread to get ideas for itineraries and lines that you might like...
...pls feel free to weigh in!
BepSF
Where is this group cruise information? I'm curious.

Happy B Day Bep-SF. I'll be 40 this year too. Hopefully the 40's will be as much fun as the 20's and 30's but with more wisdom from experience!

Afternoon Beav,
I knew there was a reason why we are friends. I'm a HUGE Titanic finatic!
I will definitely check out the museum and cemetary.
Open air tour sounds great too. RCI is offering a tour as well but I always find better deals off the ship. Thanks for the recommendations.
Any suggestions on Providence, RI? I'm Staying one night, already have a hotel booked downtown. Any suggestions for restaurants/bars in the area?
Taking Amtrak to Boston the next morning.

Thanks Blazerby,
Appreciate your great advice. I now have a place to start my research.
I'm actually on RCI Enchantment of the Seas, it's a Seminar at Sea so we will have some classroom time but hopefully not too much since we will be on a cruise afterall. I'm looking forward to seeing the Enchantment's new "Facelift" and see how she compares to when I sailed on the Grandeur.
Beav, no need to apologize........my only experience with Debbie Reynolds is on Will and Grace doing the "Told you so" dance.....Toldya-so....Toldya-so.
She's a hoot!

I'm going on a Canada/New England cruise in September out of Boston. Wondering if anyone has been to the ports I will be visiting. If so, do you have any recommendations? I have been checking the cruiseline site for shore excursions and nothing is really talking to me.
Martha's Vineyard, Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine, St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We didn't make it out to send off the Regal and Harmony. As anyone who is self employed knows, once you make a plan the calls from the clients begin to come in! I think I'll start making a lot more plans and become very wealthy.
-
I just might take a walk down to Pier 35 and see the Regal and Harmony off at Butterfly's. They should both be there although last time both ships were in port together (I believe in May) the Regal was moved to Pier 30 last minute.
-
Digby,
I agree 100%. I enjoy spending a night in the departure port city, having a nice meal, getting to my ship on time and stress free.
In September I'm sailing out of Boston but flying into Providence and spending the night. Only a 45minute Amtrak ride away. Not too bad.

According to my sources from UAL at SFO there were many late arrivals scheduled to sail on Pride Of America which might have caused the late sail away to Hawaii. They'll have 5 funfilled days at sea to catch up!

Hello Tedson,
The staff were awesome! I had lunch in the Liberty dining room and dinner in the Skyline dining room. Our lunch waitress Ms. Mistie, was the best! Made sure our wine glasses were always full, offered suggestions when asked, very pleasant. Our waiter (whose name I have forgotten) was also very friendly, made sure we liked our meals and when customers didn't like it for whatever reason, he would always offer an alternative. In general I got the feeling that that all of the staff/crew received extensive training in customer service and they seemed to really care about giving great service. Even when things weren't perfect they made an effort to make it right!
I was on Pride of Aloha last June for its second revenue sailing (L.A. to SF) and recognized a few of the stars from that ship on the Pride of America. I have nothing bad to say about the Pride of America.
Hope this answers your question.
By the way, I just uploaded some pics that I took. Enjoy!

aaerobear,
Try not to paint all of us TA's with the same brush. Many of us know how to behave.
I assure you fun was had by all last night and yet we managed not to sink the ship! lol.

Hello everyone, I was on the Pride of America for her one night cruise last night that sailed out of Pier 35. We departed a bit late, didn't get to have a cocktail with The Beav but did get to speak with him by cell phone, ship to shore.
I really enjoyed myself. My partner especially. He doesn't cruise as much as I do. This was his first sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge. Anyone who has sailed underneath the bridge knows what I am speaking of. Pride of America is a beautiful ship. NCL has learned from their mistakes with the Pride Of Aloha and has really come up with a great cruise product for the Hawaii Market. Congratulations to the crew of Pride of America!

Hello everyone, I have a couple cruises coming up in the very near future, was looking at the Cruise Critic boards and stumbled on this SF/Bay area link. What a great idea. I see a good friend of mine BEAV is on here too! Hi Brian.
I live in the city with my partner and love to cruise. Checking out the Pride of America tomorrow out of Pier 35 and then the Enchantment of the Seas out of Boston on 9/11.
Take care everyone.

All in all the ship was great, really enjoyed ourselves, the food was pretty good from the buffet, to the pool side grill and dining room. If you didn't like something, they tried to make it right. The specialty restaurant is a must especially for a special occasion, only $30pp which is a really good deal when you compare what you get to what you would pay in a major city restaurant. For an additional $30pp you can get a wine paring which I recommend because it really did enhance the meal.
My favorite parts of the ship were the aft deck during sail away, the bar servers had steel trap memories and would bring us our drinks without having to order! I do like the steam and Sauna, the mens locker room has a large sauna with a large circular window great for watching the water go by as you sweat your cares away. The steam room is coed and there is a charge to use it.
Any of Celebrity's Milennium class ships are great in my opinion.
