In St. Maarten, take the water taxi to the bay (Front Street I think).  Best place I have found for liquor is right in front.  Stop at Juggies while there for 2 beers and a Cuban for $2.99 and a free conversation with the most interesting Juggie at the World's Smallest bar.

    How much are the bottles?

  2. Going on the Fascination next week. Couple guys from work want me to pick up some bottles for them. Where should I get them for the lowest price?

On the ship, Puerto Rico, St Thomas, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts, St Maarten? I get to keep the change so the cheaper the better 🙂

    Thanks!

You will have no problem at SJU with taxis as they are readily available 24hrs. The Condado Plaza is right at the end (or begining, depending where you're coming from) of the Condado tourist area. It does have a Denny's on location and some other places to eat nearby within walking distance. Hyatt Place has nothing near. Just FYI. Hyatt is near to the PanAm pier in case that's your embarkation pier. No matter where you decide to stay, there will be someone there waiting for you.

I was about to ask a similar question but I'll ask you instead. We fly in at 6am on a Sunday. I thought about getting a private driver to take us around until 1pm when we board our cruise. Do you have any recommendations on companies to hire or places to go on Sunday mornings? After reading your reviews, I feel you're the man to ask lol

  4. Hi daddy. Of course no one can prove you wrong. Personally for $135 for a week sailing I would take the ov for the admittedly slight, poor view but more for some natural light. But otherwise it’s the same room and there are always ways to spend that $$ on other things if they are more important to you. Balcony is only worth it if you prefer to avoid activities and people but want to be outdoors for several hours per day. Keep in mind interior cabins tend to be easier to keep cool than ov or balconies. Sunlight fights the ac and neighbors on balconies leave doors open affecting the air in nearby rooms.

After I paid in full on Monday, they called again and offered a balcony for $652 more. I can do a lot more with that money in MY pocket. Now, if they call again and it's $400 or less....I'll show some interest.

  5. We're booked in an Interior on Deck 6, for November 24th, on the Fascination for $369. Last month I got an upgrade email to OV for about $135 more,. I didn't bite. Today, they offered a balcony on Main Deck for $744. I've never been in a balcony and wouldn't tell my wife until we got there.

I feel like it's not that great of a deal. Somebody prove me wrong please.

  6. I purchased 4 $100 cards on Friday, June 6th. Got email that they were being shipped on Monday the 11th and received today.

Also, just FYI, if you put Carnival in search box the $500 e-delivery shows up. For me without doing the search, only the $100 were available and had to be mailed.

I searched like you said and got this result...

4 total results, could only see 3:

    500 gift card

    100 gift card

    500 gift card

4 results for I can't see the 4th one. Final payment due 9/11 and I'd like to buy 4 asap.

  7. I'm not sure this was clear. She made a mistake. As in did something wrong. She typed the wrong date in the email. It was sent in plenty of time and all the things you said.

Lets put it this way... if your agency sent out the due date, but typed the wrong date in the email and you missed your date, does that mean your agency is pretty new and is relatively new to booking cruises, or does it mean they made a mistake?

    Mistakes happen. You know....$&IT happens.

Actually, she was so bad at booking travel and such that she was top performer in her office, eventually being promoted to supervisor (hence why she no longer gets commission on sales).

She was so bad at booking travel that she was promoted to supervisor... I'm in the wrong business!!! Lol [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]

  8. We fly in at 6am the day of our cruise....Sunday Nov 25th, 2018. I'm trying to decide if I want to surprise my wife with a limo ride or just a private sedan to the port...and maybe even drive around and take in some sights for a couple hours before we board.

Who's got the best prices for that? Bonus points if you provide a website :)

  9. Let's say you brought 1 bottle of wine with you when you checked in. Then you decide after lunch to exit the ship and check out San Juan some more. When you return to the ship, you have a new bottle of wine in your backpack/purse...will the staff know you already brought one on earlier or can I say this is my 1 freebie?

I've read that in the past you could get away with it when going down some hallway between checkpoints. Would I have a better chance getting a 2nd one on if it was a port in a smaller bottle? :)

  10. Before the storm there was a CVS that sold wine/liqour. Cross the street, turn left maybe 10min walk. Don't know if store is still there.

So let's say I check in and bring my 1 bottle of wine onboard with me. After lunch, I decide to exit the ship to check out San Juan for a few hours. When I return to the ship, can I bring yet another bottle onboard with me or will they know I've already brought one on earlier?

  11. We just got off this cruise yesterday. Carnival states that each passenger at the San Juan port can bring one bottle of wine onboard on embarkation day. Since you can come and go as often as you'd like in San Juan (Back on board time was 8:30 pm) you can bring a bottle each time you come back on! They never looked inside my bag to see what was in the bottle so I suppose it could have been a bottle of liquor, although they may look at bottle shapes, it passed through the screening machine and off I went. At the ports of call it's different. I saw a few people have to turn in their bottles for pick up on debarkation day. I think the best way to get liquor on board is to buy small bottles and put them in your pocket when you walk on.

It's true that you don't need a passport in the ports of call. You will need to fill out a customs form upon return.

I've been looking for this answer, although it's year old info. I was wondering about taking the 1st bottle on, then leaving and bringing another one on later. Between my wife and I, we could potentially bring 4+ bottles on? Now, if only I could get bring beer onboard :beer-mug::beer-mug::beer-mug::beer-mug:

  12. I haven't seen (won't be out until August 16th) SWA price for us to fly to San Juan from KC. As I said earlier, I'm sure it will be expensive, and we would rather not have to stay all night, but I see in your instances, you are better off that way. I would rather fly very early in the morning, and have it be a long flight, then having to stay all night at a hotel/motel. So time will tell.:)

We cruise 11/25 and flights into SJU on SWA are $700 now! United is the cheapest I'm finding and with $25/bag it's still cheaper...only problem is it's overnight flying getting into SJU @6am. I want to be there Saturday afternoon and experience the city/country.

There's an app called Skiplagged that I'm using to find the best prices. Based on the flight times, United has the best fares available so far. I even looked into flying out of STL and it wasn't any cheaper...especially when you have to park for 8 days somewhere.

    BTW we're in Parkville :)

  13. Thank you for the review. We will be doing this trip in October of this year. Flying out of Kansas City and one stop in Chicago. I noticed you are from the Midwest. How long is the flight to get to San Juan?
Which airline and how much is your airfare? Cruising in November and watching prices like a hawk. I want to get there Saturday afternoon but the cheapest I'm finding is overnight into Sunday morning.

  14. My wife and I are booked for the Nov 25, 2018 cruise and I'm glad I found your review. No clue what we're gonna do at each port.... or San Juan when we fly in the day before. Neither of us have been to the Southern Caribbean. I'm looking fwd to Maho Beach for sure and Window Cave looks pretty cool.

Has anybody in here done the Lip Sync Battle onboard? I want to do that as well. I was Garth Brooks in the Legends show on Liberty 5 years ago.
