  1. We booked 2 excursions with them. Paid the full amount for both. One tour got confirmed right away, the other was kept pending.
About two weeks out I checked with them on the status of the pending tour, and got a reply next day, they still needed 4 more participants. I waited another week and let them know by email we did not want to wait any longer and risk being without a tour. They accepted our cancellation and immediately made the refund to my credit card.

Then 3 days before arrival in Reykjavik things got confusing.
Got an email our tour would be changed. However the tour and date mentioned were not what I had booked. So mailed them about it. They recognised the email was a mistake, but at the same time told me our tour was also not going to take place.
remember; this was a “Confirmed “ excursion.
They did offer a very similar and longer tour  as alternative at no extra cost. For me this would come too close to back on board time, so refused and cancelled. Luckily the cruise line still had space on their Golden circle tour so we took that in stead.
Again the refund was processed swiftly.

So I would say from my experience they are definitely trustworthy, but reliability could be better.

  2. We were in Reykjavik with the Zuiderdam.
Some fellow passengers have felt it during an excursion in the area.

From TV footage it only looks like flowing lave. No eruption spitting out huge ash plumes.
got this txt on my cell phone.

  3. This will not be up to HAL but the company carrying out the excursion.

Before the helicopter flight, all individual passengers need to get on the scale ( with clothing 😉  ). They use this info to determine seating and weight distribution on the aircraft. In the conditions of some of the Heli operators a $200 upcharge is mentioned for being over the weight limit.

Don't know how strictly they are enforcing this.

  4. On past cruises we used to be able to order large bottles of (non-sparkiling) water using our signature beverage package at the various bars. It seems they changed the rules to bottles under 400 ml.

Looking at the bar menus it seems only canned water (12oz.) would qualify, and the rest is over the 400 ml (14oz.) limit.

Anyone can share their recent experiences. Anything else but the 12oz. canned water on offer that would be charged against the package?

I am aware of the water taps and the fact the water in your stateroom is drinkable.

    Thanks

  6. Can't comment on the procedure for US citizens. Just pay attention to the number entries into China you need. During our cruise someone had a single entry Visa and had to stay on board at or stop in Shanghai. Because she already had entered in Beijing.

  7. The satellites used for the internet connection are in orbit around the equator. Reception will be poor at best in the area around the arctic circle. Also in the narrow fjords reception is problematic.

During our cruise even TV sometimes had longer dropouts. Once the captain explained the strange zigzag course of the ship was not because he was drunk, but because they were trying to get a satellite lock.

  8. The OP very clearly said that they wanted to share a table, not that they wanted a table for 2. As other respondents have said, just ask and you will almost always get a shared table. We have met some very interesting people on shared tables.

You are correct. I misinterpreted the original post.
