My fiancé surprised me with my first cruise which leaves August 5th from Miami. We are going to grand Turk, grand cayman, st Thomas, half moon cay.. we plan to parasail and take a four wheeling excursion while we are at 2 of the destinations.

 

I'm so confused on what I should pack.. I've never been on a cruise and definitely never been to the Caribbean! I'm so so excited!! Other than the usual clothes,, toiletries, what are some things that you have found extremely helpful on a cruise? I've read about using the show organizers which I plan on bringing as well. What can you think of that could help out?

 

How many bathing suits should we bring?

 

I'll be packing for both me and my fiancé (because men just can't pack their own lol) so anything he would need too would be helpful!

If you are going four wheeling, take something that you don't care if it gets dusty and dirty and you don't plan on wearing again. Our four wheeling excursion included a swim in a nature pond, so I wore my swimsuit with a cover up that I didn't wear after. Bring at least 2 swim suits.

Since we are flying into Fort Lauderdale the day before, I am thinking of renting a car there and then returning it the morning of the cruise. Has anyone done this? Which rental agency? How far from the Miami cruise port? Did they provide a shuttle to the ship? Thanks everyone.

I am looking for transportation from Orlando airport to a Port Canaveral hotel and then from the ship at Port Canaveral to the Orlando airport. Evaluating Go Port Canaveral transportation. There are good and bad reviews. Has anyone had experience with them? Would your recommend? Please share any other suggestions you have for transportation.

Has anyone booked a dolphin excursion directly with Dolphin Academy? The pricing is much better than through the cruise ship. How far away is it? Which excursion did you do? Did you enjoy it? Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know if there are any stores to buy cans of pop, or as you may say soda, near the Inn At The Waterpark? Also, is there anything else within walking distance. A group of us are staying there the day before our cruise on the Carnival Magic. Thanks for your help.

The Breeze because of its tropical decor, variety of places to eat and drink, the set up of the Piano Bar and fantastic crew!

The problem I had was getting 1 shot of rum in a tall glass of diet coke. It made no sense to me that I could order a drink with 3 shots of alcohol, fruit juice, etc., but not rum and coke in a tall glass. I wrote to John Heald and have a reply back from him saying that he talked to the head of beverage department and it is okay. I will be taking the note with me on my cruise in September. Wish me luck. lol

(Let me know what you come up with, I'm open to suggestions. This was just the best option for us with the later flight and nowhere to put our luggage!)

So far, we too, have booked a couple of room near Hobby airport and figure we can store luggage and hang by the pool of in the hotel. It has to be better than spending hours at the airport. We are still working on the transportation from the airport before the cruise and to Galveston after. We are flying in the day before.

This is so much more difficult than cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.

We have an 8 p.m. flight out of Hobby airport after our cruise on the Magic. We usually book an excursion through Carnival, but they do not offer anything out of Galveston. We will not have a car and there will be about 8 of us. Any ideas on things to do?

She is a beautiful ship with tropical decor throughout and the design is perfect. The staff is wonderful. I have sailed on her twice and wish I had the time and money to sail on her each year, along with another vacation.

LaQuinta Ft. Lauderdale Airport, 2620 North 26th Ave. has come highly recommended to us from a co-worker that cruises often and usually stays there when sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale. We are staying there March 20th and the rate is $175.
