  1. Thank you to those that provided constructive information to this suite level newbie. I appreciate it. I also picked up on a vibe here that this is an unwelcome topic for others - so sorry to bother you.

Does one absolutely need a functioning app to know what is going on on one's cruise?  Is the idea that it is more real time on events than the daily paper schedule you get?

What can you do with it that you cannot do in your cabin with a paper schedule and/or TV list of menus ( which I assume there is)?

You do need the app. You boarding pass will be on there. The pre-boarding health questionnaire is on there and the muster drill is on there. Using the app greatly speeds up your boarding time. When we were on the Edge in September, it less than 5 minutes from curb outside to on deck on the ship.

It's also helpful as you can use your phone as your room key and if you're on Edge class, your room controls are available on the app as well.

For me the convenience was being able to see the dinner menus which made it easier to determine where we were going to have dinner.

I have an older Samsung phone but my Android version is up to date and had no problems downloanding the app from the Google Play Store.

  3. Concierge class cabins are bigger on M class ships and it's nice to have the extra room. On S class, we'll book a concierge cabin on the hump because the balconies are bigger and you're higher up on the ship which makes for great views. On Edge class, if you're like me and not a fan of the infinite veranda,  they're all the same size, so nothing really sets them apart. You might as well save money and book the regular cabin or splurge and go into a sky suite with a for real balcony.

  4. Awesome you had no wait. What time did you call? I called Thursday around 2pm ET and waited 45 minutes to speak to someone about changing our cabin location. I suggested to Celebrity that they may want to consider letting us change or upgrade our cabin through the website (when originally booked there) as it would have saved me a huge amount of time and freed up the rep to take the next caller.

    Hi,

Did you cancel through Celebrity and not through your TA? I thought if you booked with a TA, you had to go through them to cancel. Thanks

Yes, I had the same understanding, so I cancelled thru our TA on March 12. We have not received emails about our FCC yet. Based on Fouremco's experience, those emails should be coming any day.

  6. We cancelled our April cruise under the Cruise with Confidence program and I see that it no longer appears in my upcoming cruises, but I'm wondering, where I should see our future cruise credit? We booked thru a TA. Does this mean only the TA can see the FCC and we have to book our replacement cruise thru that same TA?

You keep your original Captain's Club points. If you move to a suite you get the other benefits attached to that cabin. We moved to suite via Moveup last year. Received all suite "perks".

Also you can visit the MoveUp site at any time. You do not need an invite to bid or cancel your bid.

The premium beverage package is about $12 a day so don't let that sway your decision. Your OBC would cover in your existing cabin.

Do the minimum bids change from day to day? We decided not to "move up" because the minimum bid on the email was higher than we were willing to go, but if it came down more in line with what we're thinking, we'd be interested.

I so want to go on our Bermuda cruise(May) but paid so no refund if I cancel.  But if I have a tempwhen boarding  they will refund my money.  Kind of odd that if you want to cancel because of virus scare you have no choice but to lose your money but go anyway with a fever and you get your money back.  I think it would be good relations to let their client cancel with a credit for a future cruise.

We are in our 70" and one has a lung issue but paid in full so I guess we loose.

Did you purchase trip insurance?  Your situation may qualify, especially if your doctor doesn't recommend that you take that risk.

First of all, if you can board before 1, (11:30 or 12) you would have an advantage.  With the sea pass cards now available by your cabin door, this enables you to enter the cabin and drop off your carry-ons even before the "cabins ready" announcement.  I think this takes the heat off the buffet area as people are not sitting longer than they need to, at the tables waiting to drop off their things.

We mostly go to the Spa Cafe on embarkation day as it is quiet and not many go there.  The food is lighter but you can  have as many dishes as you want. Tables are for 4 so you need 2 and there are not many.  Sushi on 5 is an option but it is fee based.

If you are in Concierge class, then you may eat at the MDR.

Enjoy your cruise.  We were on Summit in Oct and loved her new look.  The buffet is really lovely with all the different stations.  if you do end up there, you could take your food out to the Sunset bar area and enjoy the sunshine.

Love that you can now drop off your luggage upon boarding - awesome idea Celebrity!

We did the concierge lunch in the MDR once, won't due it again. It was awfully fancy for lunch - more like dinner and it took a couple of hours. People had long been in their rooms before even finished lunch, so we skip it now and head to the Aqua Spa Cafe. The food is very good and just more quiet and relaxed.

I think about booking the non-refundable rate with the current $25 deposit - can I name the second person later so that I really only have to pay the $25 if I cancel the cruise?

And I don't see the point for paying $100pp when I change the cruise to a different day - I would just book a new one instead and then cancel the other.

Yes. I booked as soon as the ad came out. I just entered my hubby's info today.

If it is worth refaring your cruise under the current Black Friday promotion, they are not charging the new $14 per day fee under this promotion.

That's awesome! We booked our latest cruise under the Black Friday sale and chose the 4 perks offer. It seemed like a great savings and now I know it was an even bigger savings!

When a beverage package is a perk included in your fare, the 20% gratuity on the beverage package is also included. There’s no extra charge for beverage package gratuities — unless you upgrade from classic to premium, in which case you only pay 20% of the upgrade cost. Similarly, if you have the classic package and order a drink beyond the $9 limit, you will pay the difference plus 20%.

The information posted above is about Celebrity now charging more for fares that include a beverage package as opposed to another perk. That is a separate issue from the question of gratuities for the beverage package.

Thank you, this is the information I was looking for. I appreciate it much!
