If you contact special services at DCL, I believe they can help set up a golf cart transport directly from the ship.

This is definitely true. I just got off the Magic on Sunday. We were traveling for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary.  I called Disney beforehand to inquire about it and to have it marked on our reservation (although I am not sure it this was necessary or not).   The morning of our Castaway Cay day, we called down to Guest Services and were told they would make sure that a golf cart was called and would take all of us together. We just had to let them know when we were ready to head ashore.  We did that and when we got off the ship we had to wait a little bit, but sure enough a golf cart came and picked us up. It took us all the way to Serenity Bay. When we were done for the day, we went to the beach rentals booth there and they called for the golf cart to pick us up. If it were not for the golf cart, there was no way my parents could have gotten off the ship. The first tram spot was too far to walk to, which we unfortunately learned from a previous experience. I am so grateful how helpful guest services was in arranging the golf cart this time as it allowed my parents to enjoy the day at Castaway Cay.

  2. Yes, Tiana appears in Tiana's and Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder appear in Rapunzel's. We have had luck in getting a table for just my party size in all my cruises except my third Disney cruise which was my honeymoon. I went to the headwaiter when I first boarded the ship and after the first night at dinner we were switched to a table for two.  We have been successful all the other times with different numbers of people in our party.  Most of my cruises, I book close to the cruise sail date including two cruises that we booked only a couple of weeks out and even then we were able to get a table for just us.  I always make sure I head to wherever the dining people are set up the first day of the cruise to verify that we have our own table. We always have late seating, though. After years of sitting with others at dinner on cruises, I have moved on to just wanting private tables and have never felt like our tables were to close to any other table.

  3. I was just on the Rhapsody at the beginning of August. I did my excursion through Royal so I can only speak for my experience with the tender process in that regards. We had to meet in the show lounge at 6:45 a.m. When they were ready for my excursion group, they called us and walked us down to the floor we needed to get the tender. We swiped our cards and boarded the tender. It didn't take long before the tender was full and we were on our way. So If you are doing an excursion through Royal it was easy. I don't have experience with what it was like for those who didn't do their excursion through Royal.

  4. We stayed in the Palazzo Vitturi hotel which turned out to be a great choice in terms of location - set in a small square , so quiet but close to both st. Marks square and Rialto bridge. Highlights of Venice were a gondola ride (€80 ) but so worth it and we went to Murano which was so peaceful compared to Venice which is rather overrun with tourists! Venice at night is great - much quieter and great atmosphere . Take some time and get lost - just walk the small back streets - great fun! You will find better , cheaper food the further you go into the back streets.

We took a private water taxi to the ship on embarkation day and it was great - let us off right at the pier where our luggage was instantly taken by porters . Embarkation was very quick (we were in a suite so had access to the suite line ) - there was rather a long queue at the regular checkin desks but it was moving very fast. We had a taxi booked to the airport on disembarkation which turned up exactly on time and we were at the airport in about 20mins. There is no self carry off facility on this particular cruise but all luggage was waiting for us when we disembarked at 8am.

We really enjoyed rhapsody - this was the smallest ship we have been on to date so wasn't sure what to expect but had a fab time. The staff were amazing - about the best crew we have yet come across. We didn't care much for the shows to be honest but the music in the various venues was brilliant - especially in the centrum. Karaoke in the shall we dance lounge was also good. We weren't really looking for activities as such because the itinerary was so busy (1 sea day in an 8 day cruise) that we just relaxed on our balcony for a few hours after coming back from the various ports and before dinner. We found the MDR food to be very good , helped by an excellent waiter / assistant waiter team and a brilliant head waiter who looked after my wife's gluten free needs so well. We did chops grille one night and it was amazing - possibly the best chops meal we have had on any RC ship.

Highlights of ports for us were Santorini and Athens.

    Hope something here helps!

  5. I just did an 8 day cruise in June on rhapsody with 3 days in Venice pre cruise. We had a fantastic time so would be very interested in your thoughts also. Our ports were Venice , Split , Corfu , Crete , Santorini , Athens , Katakalon. Busy schedule!

If anyone has any questions I can help with also please feel free to ask.

We are spending three days in Venice too. I was there years ago on a land trip, so I would welcome any suggestions for Venice. How did you find the embarking and debarking to be? Also, do you have any recommendations for activities on the ship? I already plan on attending the trivias and am doing the sushi class since I really enjoyed the one on the Anthem. So I was wondering if there was any other activities you found to be worthwhile. Thanks for any info you can provide.

  6. Tenders started running shortly after the ship arrived and dropped anchor (7:00); no need for tender numbers, etc, - they are pretty efficient compared to the smaller tenders in Kotor

Walk down was not bad, took about 30+ min. with a couple of stops but you do need to watch your step and look out for the donkeys (looked more like mules to me).

We enjoyed big 1/2 liter bottles of Alpha beer at a bar at the bottom before getting back onto the tender. :D

    Thanks for the tip!

  7. That's what we did but their busses were overwhelmed (I just love it when I see someone pushing ahead of a senior in a wheelchair ). The line for the cable car back to the tenders was 2-hours long in the afternoon - we chose to walk down. My suggestion with that kind of crowd is to book a ship's excursion.

How was the walk down? I am on the Rhapsody in August with two other ships docked, although one doesn't arrive until early afternoon.

  8. Are Anthem safes big enough for an ipad? Would love to bring it :)

    Thanks

I took my iPad last summer on the Anthem. The tricky part for me was maneuvering it every time to get it into the safe. But once I did that, it did fit inside the safe.

  9. When I did the one day in the parks on my Port Canaveral Day (and even when I go for one day at the beginning of cruises), I always choose to go to Magic Kingdom and eat at Liberty Tree Tavern for a late lunch. I spend the whole day on the go, so I find Liberty Tree Tavern to be the perfect place for a break. I also like not having to wait in line at the quick service places and looking for a table.

  10. I know you want to stay in the RCCL price point but if you can swing it try Disney Cruise Line! They have AMAZING customer service and really value your feed back and try to do everything they can to make you happy! Even if you don’t have kids it’s awesome for adults only!

+1 Exactly how I feel based on my cruising experience.

  11. Hello Virtopia, I see you had cabin 6170 on the Anthem, I'm booked in that cabin for Jan 2019, was wondering how you found the cabin, were there any issues with it?

    Carolyn

I stayed in 6170 last August. I loved the cabin. I thought the location was nice and enjoyed the balcony. I would pick this room again if I ever went back on the Anthem.

  12. Yes, have a similar issue. Our very first cruise with Royal is nowhere to be found. I emailed and was told it does not show because it was manually entered (??), but our point total is correct. Not sure what was manually entered or where because I do not have the booking number to manually add it to my cruise history. I'm not totally convinced on the points, but unfortunately I did not keep close tabs on exactly how many points we had prior to this website catastrophe.

I talked to one person who said others have reported the issue as well. I then talked to a supervisor who said they are looking into fixing the issue but had no idea when (or if) it would be corrected.

  13. I am not sure if this issue has already been posted by someone else on this thread but the issue I am having is that my first Royal cruise from 1992 is no longer showing (which I had to submit proof for in the past). Only my points for it show but not the cruise itself (which in the previous system was given the generic date of 1970.) I called and was told that they are working on showing cruises that were taken prior to the Crown and Anchor Society. The person on the line told me it wasn't that big of a deal since my points show. But I really didn't buy that as I have had other issues with the website.

  14. We didn't go to the beach while we were there. We took a boat to Delos and when the tour was finished we were dropped off in town where we roamed on our own. There was an area along the water that had restaurants/cafes. We picked a table outside facing the water where we ate. When we were ready to head back, Disney had a free shuttle that we took from the main town area back to the pier where we were docked.

  15. Angelina, they offer lots of trivia sessions, although there were some passengers who had been on several back-to-back cruises and knew the questions and answers. One in particular was a very sore winner and a sore loser! We spent a lot of time in the Schooner Bar where they had lots of games, trivia, music.

    !

Thanks for the reply. Hoping to enjoy the ship even though it has been awhile since I have been on a ship this size. The main reason for booking it is the itinerary versus when we did the Anthem which was all about the ship.

  16. We just got off the Rhapsody and were very disappointed in the ship. The vast majority of the staff is amazing but the ship is in rough shape. If you go to the Schooner Bar, please tell Simon and Vivian that Karen, Mark, Dianne and John say hi and we miss them!

I hope you have a great time!

    Karen

Glad to hear that staff is amazing. I had the opposite problem last summer on the Anthem -- loved the ship but disappointed in the service we experienced.

  17. Thanks for posting. Although I am on a different itinerary this summer, I would be interested in hearing about the daily activities offered such as trivia and nightly entertainment on the ship. I am interested in anything I can learn about the Rhapsody.

  18. You're welcome, and I hope they add texting to the new app too.

I do too! I love using the free texting feature on the Disney app and have gotten used to it. On the Anthem, it was nice that I could iMessage other family members even if they hadn't paid for the Voom. Once you get used to being able to do something, it is hard to revert back. :)
