The captain was aware of the weather situation long before we got to Iceland, His initial decision based on safety of passengers and crew was correct, all subsequent decisions were based on saving money for Princess cruises. On the 18th May we left Allesund enroute to Iceland and on the 19th we were told of the weather ahead and changes to the itinerary. The first mistake in my opinion, he delayed Akureyri and added Seydisfjordur. This was a tendered port which both my wife and I were unable to use. Then the following day because of 50mph winds Akureyri was not possible to either dock or tender, we along with many others had planned excursions we all had to cancel. In my opinion if we had called on the original scheduled date we possibly could have had our tours. The only other port was tendered and again not practical for us. We then spent the best part of five days in the North Sea and English Channel travelling at 10-12 knots stretching the time to ensure we didn’t arrive early. We spent nearly nine days on the ship before we got off in Southampton, bad decisions based on income for Princess.

My wife and I are on Iona 27th Nov and having spoke to P&O on the phone this morning I was told that this cruise would be at 80% capacity, I reckon that’s about 4000 passengers?
-
Sorry that should be passengers!

Some very useful information thank you, can you tell us how many passé? I have been told it’s only 50% occupied?
thank you.

I am booked on the Iona for Nov27 cruise and have been trying to contact P&O for the last four days with no luck, always ‘Really busy at this time’. I am trying to ask about shore excursions, restaurant reservations, retreat costs and reservations and the wearing of masks on board? But the most important question I want answered is what will be the number of passengers? What will be the operating capacity?
if anyone has this information I would appreciate a response.

Tried this myself, any upgrade purchased is priced at the time of original booking. Wether it was cheaper or not. Can’t win!

Ive heard One night only and it could be our 1st day at sea after Palma?

Wow bands are provided free and are already in your room when you arrive, they will open your stateroom door and you can pay for drinks at the bar etc, they are an extension of your sea pass card. We found them useful when going for a swim!

I did a premium drinks package on the Transatlantic crossing and probably broke even, it included Cocktails and wine up to $14 or $15 and all top shelf spirits including some nice Malt whisky!

We recently completed the Transatlantic crossing on Anthem and were offered a 'deal' on embarkation, eat in three restaurants for $80 per person. this was Chops, Jamies and Wonderland. the food and service in all three was excellent but Wonderland was the best, let yourself go with the flow and you will experience numerous dishes in a fantastic setting.
Chic was very good but we did not enjoy our evenings in Silk or American Icon but I hear a lot of people did, i suppose its the individuals experience, enjoy!
Sky Princess- Iceland Missed Ports

Its unlikely that everyone will use their FCC! I for one am doubtful, we have done about 20 cruises and from 18th May this became the worst cruise experience we have endured. throwing paper planes, hoopla, and giant Jenga !!!
The onboard crew shows were very good but the entertainment they brought on (a magician and Elton John tribute were dire. By far the best hour I spent was listening to a Falklands war veteran tell us of his experiences.
Princess, maybe never again!
