  1. We've just gotten notification for final payment on our cruise out of New York the end of January on the Gem. We are excited but anxious too! Both of us, along with our friends, have been vaccinated and received boosters.  Just need some reassurance from some people who have cruised recently. Were people wearing masks when indoors? Were indoor venues set up to accommodate social distancing? How about excursions? I haven't told my family we are going yet and I want to be able to answer their questions. Any other thoughts that you have would be most appreciated.

Escape the BigTop is more escape room than show.  Think puzzles.  Heard it was good.

It is more an escape room...it was hard but definitely fun! I believe we booked at the box office, but not sure.

  3. We also got off on the 18th. We had a blast! Simon was wonderful and the rest of the staff was attentive and pleasant to deal with. I actually appreciated the decor except in the room area. Loved the spaciousness of the room and the closet space, but the bathroom and balcony definitely need to be redone. While I was ok with the pool area in the back of the ship, I also thought the pool itself needed some updating. This was our first Carnival cruise and although I was skeptical based on the reviews I was glad I went. I will definitely look into other Carnival cruises based on my experience here.

  4. We just got back from NOLA....Had dinner at the following places....Vacherie and Dickie Brennans. It was during Coolinary Week so the prices were a little more reasonable. The food was absolutely delicious in both places. We had Sunday brunch at Court of Two Sisters. It was a jazz brunch and the food was very good. I tried turtle soup and it was so good that I had seconds! I hope you enjoy your stay!

  5. I am not as concerned about the eating as much as I am about the tours. The tours look very similar except for the eating. I was really wondering if anyone had experience with both tours and if there was a difference other than the food.

  6. We will be on the Anthem's 11/3 sailing out of Cape Liberty. Thinking about doing the Boston/Lexington-Concord 7 1/2 hour tour. I noticed that there are 2 different tours...one stops at the Oyster House for lunch (included in excursion fee) while the other has a stop at Quincy Market for lunch on your own. The difference in price is substantial and I was looking for some feedback on this. Thanks in advance. Shelly

  7. Has anyone used Advance Check In to transport your luggage from the hotel to cruise terminal so that you could do some sightseeing? We will be spending 4 days in NOLA prior to boarding the Triumph. We were thinking about going to Mardi Gras World before boarding the ship but weren't sure what to do with our luggage. Saw this company and was looking for feedback if anyone has any. TIA.

  8. Planning on sailing the Triumph out of New Orleans in August. Prior to the cruise, we will be staying in New Orleans for a few days. Someone we spoke to seemed surprised that we would go there in August, but that is the only time we can go. Not planning on changing the trip, but just looking for some feedback on stuff going on in the city during that time. TIA.

  9. We are considering a cruise leaving out of New Orleans in August. I just realized that in addition to Triumph, the Valor does the same itinerary. The Glory does also, but dates on Valor and Triumph work better for us. Looking for some insight that might help make our decision easier. Thanks in advance.

  10. While we are seasoned cruisers, we have never cruised on Carnival. Considering an August cruise on Triumph our of New Orleans. Looking for any feedback on the ship, itinerary and things to do in New Orleans. Thanks in advance. Shelly

  12. One thing about the seats in the theater....I hated them. There is a bar across the bottom that makes them very uncomfortable. We've been on the Breakaway several times and the last time, we sat all the way in the back on stools which I felt were more comfortable. Other than that, the ship is great and you'll have a blast. We also enjoyed the dueling pianos at Howl at the Moon....lots of fun.Have a great time!

  13. I also was on the same cruise. We were two adults so I can't say much about Splash Academy other than the fact that our room was on 12 and there was always a long line of excited kids waiting to go in. We had some issues with cancellations as well. We were scheduled for Cirque at 7 one night and were informed that that show had been cancelled and we were rebooked on a different night. We were also signed up for The Second City on Saturday night at 9 and that was cancelled (Howl at the Moon played from 9-1) and rebooked. It wasn't a major deal for us, however I was never sure why Cirque was cancelled and when we asked, we never got a straight answer. Other than that, we had a great cruise and learned a lot from last year when we did this same cruise. We didn't fight the crowds getting off at GSC and chose to stay on the ship. My biggest complaint is the theater seats. They are awful and I don't enjoy sitting in them to watch the shows. Aside from that, we had a really great time!

  14. I think it depends on when you go. We were on the ship 12/27 and decided against it because we felt the warmer days would be when we would have shore excursions and wouldn't be using it as much. We took the spa pass which we did use especially when the weather got colder. I would definitely look into it during warmer weather though.
