  1. I noticed no one answered the opera house question - dress code is relaxed, or as dressy as you would like. Jeans are an everyday sight in the theatres there, and no one will mind. The King and I is the big show (brand new production of a musical) playing during October, so you'll see bits of it when you tour the House.

  2. The photo paper is recycled, like all recyclable materials on the ship- it's sorted, packed and taken off at port.

Nothing terrifies officers or captains like fire does. Fire is the absolute worst thing that could happen at sea (and drydock). So the lines are probably all too happy to sacrifice some goodwill, to ensure everyone's safety. Surely everyone is aware that electricity is a finite resource on a ship...?

  3. 11.05 would be fine. Generally the ship is empty by 10am and with 30-45 mins for travel & check-in, the early flight is fine. You'll most likely be off before 9am. Airport train is about 10min walk from ship, 20mins ride from circular quay, plus a few minutes walk up to bag drop (assuming you will check-in on your phones before hand).

However, the early flight doesn't allow for the ship being late to port due to weather, so- that's the choice you'll have to make.

  4. I've done a little bit of research (I call it googling ;)) and it looks like NZ Telecom have a pretty good bundle for NZ$19. It gives 60 minutes of talk, unlimited text, and 500MB data. (It expires after 1 month). The details are on the NZ Telecom website here: http://www.telecom.co.nz/mobile/mobile/plansandpricing/prepaid/

Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any potential problems or issues we would need to be aware of? I am planning on walking into a NZ Telecom shop, buying the SIM and having them set it up then and there, so I know it will work!

    Cheers,

Hi- did this two weeks ago, but with Vodafone nz- i chose the $29 data package, that I can top-up later. I think all the carriers have a roughly similar prepaid option.

I found that the unlimited texts doesn't include international texts (eg NZ to Aust number), so any overseas texting comes out of the call credit.
