  1. So sad for Freeport.  Carnival representative answered this question for me as well.  She said that if Freeport isn't ready in December, we'll change itinerary like they do when there's other situations like bad weather.  I am going to Nassau, Princess Cays and Freeport early December too.  I imagine, they'll either skip Freeport or substitute it with Florida...I'm hoping for Key West!!

  2. Took a jittney bus (for like $2 per person) with the locals way down to the end of the Island to the Sheraton - got a beach and pool day pass...very inexpensive (around $40 per person).  Spent the day there; had lunch.  Nice beach, lounge chairs, towels all included. (Food was extra).  Then, walked to the (huge) casino next door.  Took the bus back to town (very scenic drive). Upon return, walked around town shopping.  Only caution is to make sure you stay alert.  My hubby is a big man...so I felt safe.  I hear it can be unsafe to do the bus sometimes now (pick pocketing and robberies of tourists).

  3. I'm headed out of Baltimore on the 9th to Bermuda too. Looks like the same concerns. Our ship is due to dock in Bermuda on the 12th (same day forecasts have Florence hitting Bermuda).

I have never been there because the cost is a lot higher than going to other places like the Bahamas etc. I even splurged for a balcony room. I have been so looking forward to this trip for the last 9 months.

from what everyone is saying, they will more than likely head south as Florence is headed north west. I just hope like heck that we don't go to New England as everything in my suitcase is beach wear!

  4. I'm booked to leave for Bermuda out of Baltimore this Sunday the 9th and so is a category 3 hurricane! Looks like Florence is due to hit Bermuda head on around Wednesday...same day we are scheduled to arrive in Bermuda. I hope for our sake and Bermuda and its residents that it doesn't happen, but if it does...

I've taken a lot of cruises in hurricane season, but luckily never one at the same time. What happens in this circumstance? Will Carnival decide to cancel? Change itineraries...by Friday? Saturday? Anyone with experience with this type of situation?

  5. Glade air freshener (the little cone kind that sits on the counter) to keep in the very small bathroom you have to share with your hubby...need I say more?

An empty handled shopping bag (like big dept stores give you) to pack all of your souveniers in to carry off the ship at the end of the cruise. If you're like me - you pack your suitcase full and once that stuff is worn - it takes up more room. Throw a ziplock baggie in there as well for any wet stuff that may leak.

  6. We just went in January. It was $35 a person for the day pass. It went up. You get it at the Customer Service desk in the lobby.

In Jan, it was chilly that day. Wasn't worth it. The towel was all we got out of it. Nobody ever asked us if we were staying there or not when we were down on the beach in the lounge chairs under an umbrella. I'm sure it would have been different if a crowded day.

If it would have been sunny - would have used one of the 5 pools; beach fun etc. If you get there and it's chilly - save your money and go to one of the other beaches close to the ship...there are several and one is even within walking distance.
