  1. Us and two friends both have suites booked. I’m pretty sure online check-in is 2 weeks before but suites and platinums get a few extra days to select boarding times!?? If we sail on 4/6 when will our check-in open? We just want to make sure we all can get the same times as we are arriving together. Thank you!

  2. I currently have two cruises booked for this year. I was looking for the in-room (fun shops) drink options and in the past there has always been an option to purchase up to two bottles of liquor. However, I can’t seem to find it anymore. All I can see is wine and beer. Did they get rid of the preorder in-room option for liquor?

The little convenience stores all around the French Quarter, including the one right across the street from the port sales all the mixers in cans you can think of. There is also a Wal Mart less than 5 minutes from the port but if you are staying downtown,  there is a grocery store called Rouses that will have what you need and a great wine selection. It's on Baroone St. About 5 minutes from the port by the Superdome. I think here is still a smaller one within the Quarter but the bigger one is better.

Thanks! We are staying in the French Quarter and I will try and fine some there.

  4. I’ve checked Walmart and Kroger twice this week to try and find cans and they don’t have any. I did buy some of the sparkling cranberry as a backup! I also looked on Amazon last week for some and it was for a large case for like $50 so I passed. We will be heading to New Orleans in a few days before the cruise so maybe I’ll find some there. If not, I will just pick some up at the bar as suggested. It’s kinda hard to believe Carnival doesn’t have it for pre purchase.

  5. We are leaving on a cruise this Sunday. I have pre purchased two bottles of vodka to be delivered to our room, however, they have no cranberry as a mixer/juice! Cranberry is our favorite mixer! I’ve looked at the rules for bringing drinks onboard and it specifically states it has to be in a carton or can. But I’ve search all over locally for cranberry in cans and can’t find anything. I was curious if anyone had successfully bring any onboard that are in the small (sealed) bottles? I guess the answer is no, but thought I would ask.

My bet is that’s a misprint. Glory should be in every Sunday and Valor should Mon-Sat, Sat-Thu, Thu-Mon deal.

I’m on the Glory that is a 8 day sat-sun. And the Valor is also departing on Sat.  Not sure if they are going to use the Julia terminal for one?  Also, I think the Dream is returning on Sunday.  That parking garage at Erato street will be packed!

  7. I just noticed that carnival has both the Valor and Glory leaving New Orleans on May 11.  I’ve never seen carnival have two ships depart on the same day before.  The port gets busy enough with just one ship in town, can’t imagine what it would be like with two at the carnival port.

Anyone seen this in New Orleans before?

  8. Our first cruise wasn’t a smooth one.  Well, actually started out horrible.

It was September 2011 on the Ecstasy out of New Orleans.  If I remember correctly this was the first sailing of her there and was just out of dry dock.  Well we show up at the port only to stand in line for about 2 hours just to get inside.  From there the computers went down and they were manually checking in people. From arriving at port to boarding the ship was about 6 hours. We actually almost left and said screw this!! Lol

We finally make it onboard only to find that the atrium bar is flooded!!  But, the crew were still serving drinks.  It didn’t seem very sanitary for me, but whatever.

We make it to our room on the Riviera deck. It seemed nice and clean, however, it smelled absolutely awful!  So bad where it was making me sick. It was a rancid sewer smell coming from the drain in the bathroom floor.  We called and complained about it and they get maintenance down to look at it.  Well, there solution was to put one of those urinal gel pads over the drain!!!!  That just made the smell worse!  I felt like I was at a truck stop bathroom where people just piss on the floor and it hasn’t been cleaned in months!  The smell was so bad our room was practically unlivable!  After more and more complaining they finally moved us to another room on the 3rd freaking day!  After multiple requests to be moved. Our new room was fine and truck stop smell free!

Even with all of that we still enjoyed the cruise!  However, the Riviera (or R deck) will and always be referred to as the rancid deck!!

  9. Starting to get a little nervous!  I’m a government employee that’s working without pay and I have my final payment coming up shortly for our first B2B!  I already have the money set aside for the cruise but a little scared to pay it off as I have no idea how long this shutdown will last!  Sorry, end of rant.  Just been looking forward to this B2B for a long time and hate to cancel..

  10. It worked good for us. Bought it twice. Once had the mid package (last April) and the other had the premium (sept 2017). Worked great in the room with no issues.

The only time it was crap is if we were in a lounge with several hundred people. It was virtually useless then.

  11. I’ve only sailed with carnival (4 times) and had suites 3 out of 4 cruises. They offer nothing special like you mentioned. Priority boarding being the best perk next to a larger and better cabin, which I find worth it.
