  1. We did not see towel animals or bed time chocolates last month either, but I did not expect any after researching MSC here on CC. I have read some stewards often make them for children, did you ask for one? I don't know if MSC ever had chocolates, NCL dropped them a while back. I hated having a drawer full of them at the end of the cruise so I don't miss that either. We sailed before the US Nassau warning so didn't notice that, I'm not sure what MSC can do about that other than what they did. How were the larger aspects of your cruise?

sometimes small touches go a long way to enhancing a cruise.... listen, im not complaining about the cruise, had a great two weeks.... some things disappointed, but i could say that about every cruise i have been on... would i sail MSC again.... in a heartbeat... loved it.... though i must say, if i don't see another pizza in my life... it will be to soon.. lol

  2. very disappointed, 14 night cruise and not one towel left in my room shaped like an an animal.... my 15th cruise and the first time this has happened.... also no small bit of dark chocolate left either...... they cruise news was also pretty pathetic.... nothing about the history of the next port... just warnings about getting mugged.... very reassuring

  3. What was your reason for removing gratuities, please?

I've always found MSC staff well worthy of them.

The only time I made a reduction on gratuities was on a Cunard sailing. I breakfast in my cabin. The day the steward arrived without a cup on my breakfast tray, after numerous previous minor erors, was the last straw. I went to the Purser and demanded a $1.50 discount from the daily charge.

i only believe in paying tips to people i deal with personally.... the cabin steward got $5 and was very grateful

  4. As a matter of interest, I always leave our gratuities on but can you take them off if you want to and pay personally. Just seems a sign of a good cruise line if you can.

yes you can opt out, just go to reception and tell them.. we did it no problem

  5. Why the nasty replies? It takes the same time to answer an question as it takes to be snarky, and it's my understanding we are here to be helpful to fellow cruisers .

So to the original question , we sailed in a Fantastica balcony and the toiletries were an in-shower dispenser with body wash in one side and a shampoo /conditioner in the other side. Not the best shampoo , but it does the job . I just took my conditioner from home because I like the smell and feel . There was no lotion or any other free standing bottles, although these may be provided in the other experience packages .

Please feel free to ask any questions . There are lots of friendly and helpful people on these boards . Hope this helps !

    thank you

sorry for asking, thought asking a question about an MSC ship on MSC board would be ok.... obviously not...

thanks for your kind reply though.... not got time to search through hundreds of pages

  7. :mad:why do people think it's ok for them to blow there nose right in front of you as you are trying eat, not only that but they want to check the contents of their hankie too..... one woman blow her nose on the napkin that was provided, then just left it sitting on the table for the waiter to collect, gives me the boak...... please go to the toilet if you want to get rid of the snotters from your nose

  8. appreciate the replys, basically if i can't afford to tip, i shouldn't go on a cruise, sorry but i find paying over £10 a day for my wife and I a bit steep, i do tip, but only to those who merit it, I've never been keen on going down the American route where tipping is compulsory, it should be merited,

I don't go down the route of feeling sorry for crew members either, who i think do a great job, but some do very well at putting the guilt trip on a lot of people, they know the job there getting into before they start..... just look at every port, they've all got the latest iPhones iPads, all the brand name clothing, expensive cameras, more than i have...

so as i say, i will tip, but just to those that i feel have went the extra mile

  9. I'll be first in the queue to get gratuities taken off, my wife and i work on a very tight budget, we save really hard all year, i mean scrimp and save all year to afford this cruise, we cut out a lot of our luxuries, we both work very hard for our yearly cruise, we cannot afford £5.50 each daily for 14 days, we will tip, but we will tip whoever we think deserves it, it will not be near the total that we would be paying if we left gratuities on, but it will be what we can afford and no more, sorry if this offends people who think i'm conning people out of money, believe me, i'm not

  10. been with most other cruise firms, but this is the first time with P&O,

Sailing on the Britannia in November going round the Caribbean,

usually get a drinks package, but notice P&O only offer a wine package,

However, somebody was telling me that P&O allow you to bring alcohol on the ship at embarkation, and also when you visit ports, does anybody have any more information on this, is it true?

    Thanks

  11. probably been asked before, but can't be bothered trailing back old posts..... but...........

does anybody know if Thomson ships are still going into Israel..... going there in a few months time, just wondering if the itinerary will remain the same
