  1. Oasis still shows on the FLL schedule through the first week in May 2016, but then disappears. Allure shows through May, so Oasis is going somewhere else that they haven't announced yet;)

Royal most likely won't release their summer '16 itineraries until March. This is both what I've been told and what they have done in the past.

Oasis going to China could mean that one of the new Oasis class ships will replace it in south Florida.

As China is a new and untapped market it seems Royal is jumping to be the first and biggest there. At a recent travel agent conference centered around Cruising, Carnival, Princess, Norwegian, MSC and other lines all said they are "researching", "doing their due diligence", or the like, basically saying they are letting Royal test it for them... If things with Quantum go well, you can bet a lot more ships will be headed there too!

This could mean higher prices for us here in the US. If many ships go that will limit supply and increase demand.

  2. No, you can not prepurchase it.

Yes, all guests in the same cabin over 21 have to buy it.

You can buy bar cash, which can be used toward Cheers, which is the way we plan to do it this time.

    Thanks!

I heard that cruises departing from Texas can't buy on day 1.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you get to pay for one less day then?

  3. It's great that you want to support your friend, but why would you take payment away from someone who already did the work. Was there service really of no value to you?

For you to change travel agents your original agent would have to sign off on the change. They may or may not do this and they have no obligation. They may charge a fee to do so even if this fee was not originally disclosed. You could maybe cancel (they may have a fee for this too but it should have been disclosed to you) and you could rebook with your friend but there is a good chance prices may have changed.

If you really want to support your new friend you could book another cruise when you are onboard. Make sure that you have them NOT credit the booking to your current agent and then transfer this booking to your friend.

You mention your friend wanting to help you set up this trip. They can still help you with excursions and even your pre/post cruise packages if you plan on one.

  4. Maybe they won't even have a Broadway show on Quantum and Anthem. I hope they do, but maybe they will decide to offer some other kind of show. I really liked Saturday Night Fever on Liberty, but maybe such shows are too expensive and take too many cast members and musicians.

The brochure for Quantum mentions a broadway show, so there definitely will be one!

  5. When we got there, we noticed that it had a sign "Show in progress, do not interrupt", crap…. Somehow I had confused the times and we completely missed our chance at seeing the show. Because you well know that it is impossible to get in without reservations, I was so upset about it, but what else could we do?

    Loving the review...

Just want to throw out my experience with the comedy club.

When DH and I did all our planning we booked everything EXCEPT the comedy show. He swore no one went to them and we'd be fine. I didn't buy it but wasn't concerned at all.

On night 6 we walked in very last minute, they were getting ready to close the doors and got great seats. I can't guarantee anything but it can be done. I really hope you didn't give up and not ever see the show.

  6. Loving the review!

We too had dinner at Giovanni's and had Bashir as our waiter! And while our food was fabulous (we didn't order the lamb!) Bashir made the night for us!

We went Saturday night. That day we did the all access tour, I casually mentioned this to him and asked a question about a crew gym. He spent the next15 minutes telling us all sorts of good juicy tidbits about crew life. They are allowed to and even ENCOURAGED to drink on the job!

I was a little worried about his other tables but it didn't seem to be an issue. He was also assigned to the table next to us and I saw someone else bring out their entrees.

We had also done a package deal and we don't drink wine. We had a zero balance bill. I ordered the torte for dessert which was okay, but I also asked my new BFF Bashir to try the Malaga ice cream which I missed on the all access tour. It was to die for!

I had to leave right after dessert to get to a drawing but DH stayed to settle up, I begged him to tip Bashir well, I was worried about him getting stiffed at other tables. I was happy to see later on our ship bill that he had!

We also gave him one of our two WOW CARDS!

  7. Actually casinos ( even a cruise ship casinos ) that experience or suspects that chips have been stolen. The will chips will be changed out immediately so the stolen chips can't be used. This was just on the news about a week or so ago due to a left at a Las Vegas casino.

    Wildly inaccurate.

To summarize, if high value chips are stolen, a casino usually has a backup second design on hand to make stolen chips standout.

  8. Hi Harold' date='

Thanks for the great review and pics. April cannot come soon enough and great reviews like this just keep the excitement barely contained!!! I know with dining being subjective that this is a loaded question but we have booked a 3 specialty dining pkg. The first @ Chops had to be prebooked on night one or two. We picked night two any thoughts on when we should think about booking the other two?? We hear the last night in the dining room is would be a good one. Any suggestions???

Stay safe and dry this weekend again thanks for the fabulous review,

    Sue[/quote']

I just got off the Allure, loved every second of it and definitely can't get enough!

My DH and I did the Allure Choice dining package you mention. When we signed up we were only given a choice of Day 1 for Chops. Later an option opened up for day 2 but we stuck with our original choice. I loved Chops, my filet was perfect and I had the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. DH sent his porterhouse back and the replacement filet wasn't as good as he was hoping.

We made reservations for Giovanni's and Samba. We did Samba on day 2 and Giovanni's on day 7. I would say the filet I had at Giovanni's was the best I had all week!

We scoured Cruise Critic for the new menus and chose our specialty dining based off that. Reservations were very easy to get onboard and they were very flexible. On the last night we went to Giovanni's a half an hour before our 7 o'clock reservation to move it later to accommodate our seeing the last parade. There was no problem whatsoever.

This dining package was a great deal. We also did Rita's Fiesta one night (I think we'll skip this one next time!) And the Prohibition Event, which we would most definitely do again!!!

  9. you might find one at the airport but other than that I have never seem them on a ship or in the port areas.

We're you looking? I was just talking to DH and he mentioned (not for the first time) that he had never seen them before he met me and now he sees them everywhere! There one of those things you don't really acknowledge unless you have reason too.

  10. I was curious about the Solarium Bistro, so I made my way upstairs. Didn't have to wait long for an elevator.

The Solarium itself is a lovely space:

First, your review is incredible! I've read just about everything I could find on Allure for the last couple months and this is the first time anyone has posted a pic of the electrical outlet!

I've read about how it is better than the one on Oasis but really couldn't find anything else about it. This afternoon I added a plug adapter into my suitcase and your picture showed me it would have been useless.

So know, honestly truly that your review helped me absolutely!

Thanks and can't wait to read more... Still a page behind.

And of course, the outlet didn't show in my posting, but I knew it was there!
