Just got an email from Princess for my October departure out of Melbourne. No more testing requirements. 👍

Just received email concerning my upcoming November cruise on the Grand Princess ...

"You love travel, and we love making it simple to fulfill those dreams. So we're happy to report that effective immediately, the requirements to join a cruise from Australia will now align with all other cruises globally without vaccination or pre-cruise testing requirements.

This protocol shift applies to itineraries to all destinations sailing to or from an Australian port.

We can't wait to create new memories with you on your upcoming voyage!"

  2. I've done a few repo cruises, both cruising first flying home and flying first and cruising home.  Personally I prefer to cruise first then spend a few days before flying home.  For me it helps to ease the disembarkation 'blues' if I have a few days ahead to explore another country.  I'm not a shopper so airline weight restrictions aren't a problem.

  3. Thanks for the update Carol.  Hopefully you can start to breathe again.

I think we have all been hanging out for some good news on Norris.

Hang in there Norris mate and keep the jokes a'comin.  Those angels who work in hospitals need lots of cheering up IMO.  They have so much to cope with.  Good to hear you can still laugh at what life throws at you!

Carol had said to me in the morning-"I'm going to close these curtains as there are people on the top deck of Pacific World with binoculars"

I got my big zoom lens and watched them. No movement. It was a whimsical statue of a woman looking through binoculars as her husband pointed something out to her. Cute.

I'm glad you're enjoying the GSJ/report/review and give my thanks for saying so.

It is a lot of work as I have so many photos from 3 cameras and the videos take about an hour each in the YouTube oven and I have to watch its progress in case of issues.

But in the end I have a vivid memory of a great cruise, for Carol and I, and to share with all who read it on CC. It's a win -win!

    Thanks again!

    Norris

Norris, here's a pic of "that couple" taken on the Sun Princess in 2013.

  5. G'day Norris.

Earlier today I heard a call from that tiny voice in my intestines urging me to get myself over to the Celebrity board today because it might be possible that a new chapter in the Gentlemen's Seafaring Journal just might be available.  And yep, it was!  Never ignore your intestinal little voice cruisers!

Thank you Norris mate.  Enjoying it so far and I look forward to the continuing saga.

  6. I find that most of these cruise vlogers are just talking heads ... "it's ALL ABOUT ME!!!!!" sort of stuff.  I just take a brief look and then ... kaput / delete.  They really don't give you useful information.

Best of luck with your procedure with the plastic surgeon Lyle.  Here in Oz we are very aware of this sort of thing.  I wish you well and have fingers crossed for you.

  7. G'day Norris mate.  Thank you for another very entertaining entry into your Gentleman's Seafaring Journal.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for your brain-fog ... yep can relate to that as DH and I both contracted the dreaded virus after our October/November '22 cruise.  Fortunately now in January we're both back to normal ... or as "normal" as we will ever get but it took time for us 2 old fogies to get over it completely.  Hope you and Carol both fully recover completely very soon.

  8. DH & I were on this 28 day cruise around Australia.  Due to changes in itinerary (as well as everything else onboard) we decided to disembark in Melbourne last Sunday.

We were extremely cautious and vigilant throughout the cruise.  Masked up indoors and mostly outdoors unless socially distanced.  Washy washy, sanitise at every opportunity.  Did not visit the theatre for the shows or lectures nor did we sit in the Universe lounge for performances by guest artists.  Rarely sat in any of the bars unless we could socially distance.  We didn't do any tours onland.  It was definitely not like cruising preCovid.  We did NOT contract Covid onboard and continually tested negative but .... at home at lunch time yesterday (Monday) we were feeling the onset of a cold.  Did a RAT and we were positive.

Fortunately we were home and our GP quickly organised antivirals for us (both in our 70s) and we are starting to feel a little better after our 2nd dose this morning. Thankfully we were home and not still onboard.

I'm not complaining at all, but I urge everyone if on a cruise - be careful and be vigilant.
