  1. We are flying from the west coast of the USA to Puerto Rico and with our Viking tickets have been unable to upgrade our seats on American Airlines. It is an 8 hour air time...but Viking did not offer upgrades because it is a “short domestic flight” and the airline will not sell upgrades because of the type of bulk purchase seating. It will be a long, cramped flight. I guess free air is worth what you pay. And yes we paid $150 each extra for custom air to get the shortest routing.

  2. I am 130 days pre cruise. Air is included...but you cannot pay for upgrades...they feel these are all short flights. Well from California the trip varies upon connections from 9 hours to 17 to San Juan I have a really bad back (I am in remission from Cancer in my Spine) I must have an aisle seat so I can stand and stretch every hour (as long as safe) I cannot be blocked by some fool onAmbien who cannot move.I have offered to pay for business class but they say no upgrades may be purchased and would not commit to allowing me to fly in early by a day. I wonder if they plan to ship everyone to a charter in NYC. Has anyone had experience with this. I may have to just buy my own tickets.

  3. We spent 2 days b4 a cruise in Sao Paulo. Fabulous city. We hired a private guide from our Hyatt hotel for 1 day...wish I could remember her name. Great tour showing us what we wanted to see.....neighborhoods, markets, cultural centers, soccer arenas churches and honestly spoke of life in Brazil. On our own we went to fabulous restaurants, a beautiful mall and saw favelas and extreme poverty and great wealth. Favela tours are available and supposedly safe.

Sao Paulo is a dynamic huge city...growing and changing

  4. You have all been so helpful with hotel planning that I am going to "pick your brains" again. I am trying to plan and cram as much in as possible during our 3 nights in London post Baltic Cruise.

International Friends runs a combined ship-hotel transport with a Tour that goes to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Windsor Castle before arriving at Hotels in London. Has anyone taken this tour or know much about it? All comments welcome and thanks in advance.

  5. Thanks for the previous responses. I ostly want to be able to walk to dinner, breakfast, shops, nice area. I am willing to take a cab to theaters and such as I am not able to walk more than a mile or 2 easily (and then only in comfy walking shoes or sneakers, not my dress shoes).

Those things considered I am looking at the Crown Plaza - Kensington, Rembrandt Hotel, Hilton Hotel Greenpark, and Double Tree Hilton in Hyde Park. all seem reasonably priced, wifi and continental breakfast.

Help...I will return the favor with advice on California :)

  6. We have not been to London since the early 70's..so have no idea where to stay for 3 nights post Baltic Cruise. Want to be close to restaurants and sights.

I am considering The St James (taj hotel). Any thoughts? Any other suggestions close to center of London...around $1000 US for 3 nights total ?

Would appreciate any and all suggestions
