Thanks For the advice, i would like to see Camden Yards and Ft mchenry...but if Baltimore is anything like St Louis, Its best to skip the tour and head for the ship!! Thanks Again

We are staying at the Hampton Inn Downtown across the street from Camden Yards before our August cruise.  The Orioles are playing the Braves that weekend, so I also got tickets for the game the night before the cruise.  If the cruise is cancelled, we'll just have a mini-vacation in Baltimore for a few days since the time off work is already booked.

The guest to public space ratio is really good on the Pride and the 3 different pools really makes finding a nice spot relatively easy and uncrowded.  We are on the repo cruise from Baltimore to Tampa and looking forward to another 14 days on her.

The guest to space ratio is what made me book her for October 2020 (of course cancelled) and now August 2021.  Fingers crossed we go - and if it's with reduced capacity I bet the ship will feel empty!

One good sign for the Pride is that the MD governor has opened the Baltimore Cruise Port as of yesterday (Saturday, May 15).

The Pride is also on its way to Miami now after hanging out off the Bahamas for a few weeks - hopefully to get stocked with crew and vaccinated.  I'm supposed to be cruising on her in August and have fingers, toes, everything crossed that it happens.

Actually we're booked on the last cruise from Baltimore-----October 31. The cruise is a 14 day "repositioning" cruise going to Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Santa Marta (Columbia), Cartagena (Columbia), Panama Canal (partial transit), Costa Rica, Roatan, Cozumel---and ending in Tampa! They no longer have it showing on line---hopefully the CDC's edict of no longer than a 7 day cruise won't be in effect by then! We're also booked on a 7 day out of Baltimore on August 29, 2021 and so far that is still scheduled to go. It would be nice if our luck (6 cruises canceled up to now) is changing.

We are on the 8/22 cruise and I'm feeling better and better about our chances now!  We were originally scheduled for October 2021, and rebooked after it was cancelled - I had originally booked that one in January 2019, so I've been waiting a long time for this cruise.

  5. I'm eagerly awaiting your Bermuda review!  All of your many Pride reviews convinced me to book the Pride for October 2020, and then when I read your Bermuda review last year I told myself the next cruise I booked would be to Bermuda.  So imagine my (happy) surprise when I was alerted a few months ago that my previously scheduled Pride cruise to HMC, Grand Turk, and Freeport was being changed to 2.5 days in Bermuda.  I'm ridiculously excited and already researching - even though I still have over a year to go.

If this is true, I’m going to be a sad lady! My first cruise I started collecting the cute shot glasses they bring at dinner. I had Cheers but knew they weren’t covered. I’m cruising in September and was looking forward to the new (to me) shot glass design. I’ll have Cheers this cruise also. I want my shot glasses!

I was able to do this on my Elation cruise in December.  I got the drink for "free" under Cheers, but had to pay $5 or $6 for the shot glass.  I collect them as well!

  7. I normally wear Jack Rogers-type sandals such as these:

However, on my December Elation cruise, my feet swelled so badly I couldn't wear any of the sandals or shoes I had packed.  I picked up a pair of inexpensive rubber flip flops from the Fun Shops and wore them the rest of the cruise, including to the dining room.  They were almost identical to these below but a different color scheme and nothing was ever said.

  8. Bumping this up. My mom is hooked on Lipton's Diet Green Tea, and of course with the new bottle policy she can't bring it on. We were going to get Cheers on our upcoming Ecstacy cruise, and she wanted me to find out the Honest Tea flavors available onboard so she could try them in advance so see if she could find a substitute for her Lipton tea.

  9. We had a cabin near the midship elevators on our Valor cruise. We heard the "dinging" of the elevator day and night in our cabin, but it wasn't enough to wake us up or bother us. We never heard any people talking or anything like that. I would definitely choose a cabin in the same location again.

  10. Does anyone know why the costs of the CTN are so out of line with other cruises? I was looking at the 2 day CTN out of Charleston on the Sunshine in November 2016 as a birthday present for my mom (who has never cruised and loves the idea of a CTN), but it would be cheaper for us to go the previous week on a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas? I would think with a captive audience, gambling and alcohol sales would be the same or more as on a sea day during a longer cruise.

  11. Thanks for the heads up! I had planned on ordering a bottle of the Barefoot Bubbly for sail-away for our upcoming cruise. With this deal, not only do I get the Barefoot Bubbly (a $30 value), I get the $35 of bar and photo credit (which we would have used anyhow) but also the t-shirts, visors, tote bag, and champagne glasses for maybe $10 more than I would have paid for the champagne + bar and photo credit.

  12. My husband and I went on her in early March 2013. Unbeknownst to either one of us, these dates coincided with Spring Break for many local colleges. Despite this, we really enjoyed the Fantasy and all it had to offer. We ran into the "partiers" but all of our encounters were extremely polite and we did not have any complaints. I was 30ish and DH was in his late 30s (and curmudgeonly to boot) and neither one of us had any complaints.

Yes, it's a small ship with not many amenities but we both thought it was grand. The benefit of a smaller ship was the crew really got to know you. By the second day, Liza, the bartender at Windows on the World at the back of the Lido deck, was greeting me by name and drink order. My husband found the same to be true at the coffee shop on Promenade deck (where he was regular milkshake customer). We are cruising again on the Valor in October 2015, but definitely have not ruled out the Fantasy for future cruises.

  13. To add on to this question just a bit - DH and I are planning an anniversary cruise on the Liberty in October 2015, and will have the money for the deposit and the majority of the cruise available to us next week. Are there any disadvantages to booking this early or should I hold on to the money and wait until closer to the end of the year? I would be buying trip insurance regardless.

  14. Thanks for another great review Nancy! In my (so far only) cruise, I spent most of my time on Serenity deck with my iPod and a couple DoDs. I actually used the hot tub on a very hot day in Nassau - I got in just long enough to get wet, and then sat on the lounger to dry off and it cooled me down significantly. You might want to try that round.

I'm trying to talk my Mom into a mother/daughter cruise in December on the Fantasy since we've decided to give each other a trip in lieu of a gift for birthdays. She's voting NYC but I'm hoping the pictures of Little Stirrup Cay and Nassau sway her in my direction.

  15. Nice Review.....I throughly enjoyed your last review from the Fantasy. I am in the process of compiling and organizing our pictures from our back to back cruises on the Ecstasy and Sensation earlier this month to begin another photo review of my own

I can't wait for your review either. Your photo review of the Fantasy was also a big factor in my deciding to book my first (but not only) Fantasy cruise in 2013.

Oh, yeah - Go Tar Heels!! (Class of 2003, representing!)
