  1. We did a b2b last year and loved it. Nassau,St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk, and then Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Loved both east and west for different reasons. West we did more activities and the east more beaches and shopping. We didn't get bored and came home very relaxed. The extra week gave us the opportunity to slow down instead of feeling like we had to cram all the activities in a short time. Enjoy your trip!

  2. Wow, I didn't realize I was a germaphobe. I thought everybody took a minute to wipe down their cabin. I also wipe down the surfaces that surround me on the airplane too. I noticed the last time I flew that they no longer clean the plane between flights but they "groom" it. The trays are pretty grimy and so are the touch screen tvs.

So yes I'm the weirdo who checks for bedbugs, never uses hotel room glasses, and wipe down commonly touched surfaces.

I realize that I'm probably not killing Noro if it's there, but hopefully eliminating some fecal bacteria and common cold viruses.

The cabin is my home for 7 days and I wipe it down daily like I wipe my own home down. As far as the stuff outside my cabin- well like commented on: elevator buttons, handrails, buffet utensils etc. are avoided if possible.

BEST protection of all is wash hands as often as possible whether out and about or in the cabin.

  3. Never knew the "syrup" situation was so desperate on Norwegian. When I go on vacation I allow myself to indulge in my favorite breakfast items including waffles and pancakes. I cannot imagine enjoying weird syrupy stuff with an undermined chemical flavour. Thanks for the heads up Norwegian peeps. Will be smuggling my maple syrup over the border for sure.

  4. We did nachi with our 8,10 and 17 year old girls. They loved it. Yes,it's quiet and no giant water toys. But we brought some sand toys and snorkel and fins for them and they had an awesome beach day. It was like going to the beach at home in NL except warm, lol. And we have had Joseph attending to us both times at nachi and he is so warm and hospitable. Going back next January!

  5. Put down that rock! A friend explained that when we feel like we should be doing more we are burdening ourselves unnecessarily. i.e sleeping in but feeling guilty because not lounging by pool yet and the sun is shining! or on an excursion and feeling like getting back on the ship cause you paid so darn much for it and want to get money's worth. Those feelings are like lugging a rock around all day. So as my friend says: put down that rock and cut yourself some slack. There is no perfect vacation so relax and it will be a great one.

  6. Totally. I have a fear/phobia of monkeys. They look so adorable but have very sharp teeth. Heard of too many incidents involving pet or supposedly tame animals biting. Maybe they are good little animals but feel threatened or maybe tired of being played with and instinctively show they are upset by biting. I don't want to take a chance. Thank you for warning other parents.

  7. Oh my, you had me worried. My husband is in hospital for unknown (as of yet) neurological disorder with symtoms including metallic taste and tremors in various muscles. Were going on our second cruise in 53 days - positive thoughts- ;) not offended btw, I'm chuckling, actually needed some humor in my day and wish you a very happy platinum experience and hope to join you soon
