  1. We should be sailing on the Moon now, Singapore - Mumbai but of course that was cancelled. SS did wait until the last minute to announce the cancellation but we all knew it was coming because it was waitlisted online.

They offered full refund or transfer to another cruise with discount and we accepted the latter.

We were able to cancel our airfares less $330AUD each and we had also paid for visas for Sri Lanka and India.

SS reimbursed us for these out of pocket expenses and within a week of submitting our claim. We were very impressed.

Although we are in Australia, we use a UK travel agent so the claim went through UK SS office - don’t know if that makes a difference or not.

  2. I thought it was for safety reasons.

A report was made after a serious accident ( fortunately no fatalities) and several near misses and it was decided not to continue with this tour.

Because of the remoteness of the area there are no medical facilities and any recovery is difficult so it’s really too risky.

We have done it, but there was a nagging feeling that this could easily go pear shaped.

I might be wrong but this is what I read.

We leave in 39 days and have no idea what vacation we are going to need to pack/purchase for

I know what you mean, we feel the same way.

Do we get the cases out?

Do we start sorting summer clothes?

Do we organise things around the house, redirection of the mail etc?

The cruise leaves from Singapore so I’m guessing most passengers will be flying in from somewhere which means a lot of flights and hotels will need to be cancelled.

I wonder about passengers who are doing a B2B (Singapore - Mumbai second leg).

    Have they heard anything?

    What about the crew?

    It’s a ridiculous situation!

Personally, it didn't make my dinner any less enjoyable, but I am a stickler for rules.  Don't have em if you ain't gonna follow em

Is the dress code a rule or a suggested attire?

  5. In Australia it is currently 7:22am Friday 15th March and still no word from SS re May cruises.

However, we have received word that all SS fares will be increased 17th March!

Is it too cynical of me to think they are waiting for the fare increase before cancelling our cruises?

This way they can offer 20% off future cruise which now costs more - very clever.

  6. This really is becoming annoying.

It is obvious to all and sundry the cruise will not go ahead so we are looking at alternatives but of course we can’t do anything until we have confirmation.

May is now out of the question for us so it’s now August - peak season in Europe and heavily booked. We found a cruise on Ray which is ok (been to all ports before) but the flights from Adelaide on the date we need is completely booked out. We can go out of Melbourne but it adds an extra 8 hours to a 23 hour flight!

The longer we have to wait before we can go ahead the worse it’s going to be.

I wonder if the crew have been told anything - it must be so stressful for them not knowing what they are doing.

This could have and should have been handled better.

  7. These days most hotels and many ships have coffee machines in their rooms and cabins.

It has been a bug bear of mine that Seabourn will only offer them in penthouse and above.

Personally I don’t like room service or going to O bar before I’ve had a shower and I’m afraid I really like a coffee before a shower.

We have diamond status and when we have sailed in veranda suite, I have asked for a coffee machine if there is one available. Sometimes I’ve been lucky but it always comes with a lecture about it being for penthouse and above.

  8. We are on May 5th cruise Singapore - Mumbai and have to say we are getting a little nervous about it. If the cruise is shortened, flights have to be rearranged and fares are likely to be higher due to short notice.

If it is cancelled at the last minute, it gives no time to rebook.

As a plan B, we are looking at other cruise lines but at this stage nothing really suits or fits our time frame.

  9.

The Moon has to be back in the Med for the summer cruises and if the Red Sea and Suez Canal are still off limits, there will not be enough time to go around Africa and arrive in Athens for the first Med cruise.

There are several ways they could achieve this.

Cancel Singapore - Mumbai and sail without passengers and crew.

Cut our cruise in half, drop passengers and crew and continue to Athens - may have to cancel or shorten Athens cruise.

Keep our cruise and cancel first couple of Med cruises.

Personally I think our cruise will be shortened but that may not give enough time to make Athens. I believe it takes about a month to sail around Africa.

Who knows what they are thinking?

We were booked on inaugural Silver Ray cruise and a week before that was cancelled, both SS and TA told me everything was going to plan.

    This is why I’m concerned
