When we sailed last Fall from Vancouver to Alaska, we had to download our “vaccination certificate” to the Medallion App.

I agree with all of you that this is confusing however, that may all change soon as rumours are floating around the USA are about to drop this requirement soon ???  Cross your fingers.

As stated in #5 “go and get your shot”. We have received 5 booster shots so far and were still living and all is well.  😀

thanks. For the record I’ve had 5 vaccine shots. I agree with your general sentiment.

No she won't need to be vaccinated.  The US is only requiring that for foreign travelers entering by air.
Edit to add: she might need to be if she flies into the states.
But cruises from Vancouver would be fine.

that’s what I thought but last paragraph of Princess site says this. It’s confusing.

  3. Hello

a friend is looking to take an Alaska cruise in September leaving from Vancouver but her mom isn’t vaccinated.  It’s confusing online if you need to be. It looks like the princess line doesn’t require proof but maybe US customs will for non-US citizens? They are Canadian.

    anyone know for sure?

    thanks

  4. hey everyone. I asked in the roll call but thought I would try here too.

    1) logged into cruise planner and it says it has a sale ending tomorrow. Do I really need to rush and book everything or will there be another sale? We just booked today so would prefer to have a little to plan. Lol

    2) anyone know why we leave vancouver but come back to Seattle? How does this help RC? I am just curious of the reasoning for leaving one port and coming back to another.

    thanks for any help!

  5. Update on how to fix app.

you have to go into your AppStore.
    go to your previous purchases
    Find ArriveCan app

    force update

Then it removes the screen requiring you to agree to test.

if you do not force app to update it does not show up..

80%+ of users will not know this. Lol not forcing an app update at the server side.

It is poorly explained. One has to drill down quite far to access their own personal situation.  Taking their instruction at surface levels doesn’t make it ‘user’ error…..consider that everyone reads and interprets differently and may not think like you do. The ‘rules’ can be better explained, IMHO.

That but also the app is plainly wrong. It forces you to agree to get tested.

We are cruising to Alaska from Vancouver in May. As we will not likely buy ship internet, we will do our ArriveCan while onshore in Ketchikan, and use the web version.  I read 72 hours before, so assume that means no sooner than 72 hours, or does it mean no less than 72 hours. Can someone set us straight?

Looking forward to first cruise since Nov.  2019. It is the ArrivCan that has us tied in knots.

It’s anytime within 72 hours. So can be the hour before theoretically but I would recommend as early as you can within that 72 hours.

Also, on the Arrivals page modified yesterday, it says one must provide proof of a valid pre-entry test result. I thought that ended?  Are they talking about the non-vaccinated?
    Confusion reigns.

It seems like just plain old gross incompetence. I just double checked and the main Canadian government site clearly says you do not need testing. They are just too stupid to update the app.  It has to be confusing hundreds of thousands of travellers!
