cor_print_icon.gif Royal finally updated their website:

Q: Can I bring liquor or non-alcoholic beverages (from home or from a port) onboard?s.gifA: Guests are not allowed to bring beer, hard liquor or non-alcoholic beverages onboard for consumption or any other use. Guests wishing to bring personal wine and champagne onboard may do so only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. When consumed in any public area, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of $25.00. Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought onboard or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports-of-call or from Shops On Board will be stored by the ship and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

Security may inspect containers (water bottles, soda bottles, mouthwash, luggage etc.) and will dispose of containers holding alcohol. Guests who violate any alcohol policies, (over consume, provide alcohol to people under age 21, demonstrate irresponsible behavior, or attempt to conceal alcoholic items at security and or luggage check points or any other time), may be disembarked or not allowed to board, at their own expense, in accordance with our Guest Conduct Policy. Guests who are under the permitted drinking age will not have alcohol returned to them.

The question that remains to be seen is if they want to inspect what liquid is in each wine bottle.

btwi I've never heard of anyone being thrown off the ship for smuggling.

  2. Email from Royal:

Royal Caribbean (effective 11/01/12) and Celebrity guests wishing to bring personal wine onboard with them at the beginning of the cruise may do so, limited to two (2) bottles per stateroom, but when consumed in any shipboard restaurant, bar, or dining venue, each bottle shall be subject to a corkage fee of $25.00.

    • Alcoholic beverages that are purchased in ports-of-call or from shops onboard will be stored by the ship and delivered to you on the last day of the sailing. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.

    Great news.

That 2 bottle limit is actually 4 bottles total since I doubt it they'll keep tabs on how many bottles have already boarded and my wife will be boarding separately. :D

It also looks like we'll be able to take liquor aboard with us from now on since who's to know what liquid is in each bottle. :)

  3. This may vary by ship and cruising population. I didn't notice any cigarette smell in the casino on non-smoking nights on the Sapphire Princess. But there weren't a lot of smokers on that cruise, at least the smoking area of the casino wasn't heavily populated on smoking nights - so there may have been less carrryover to non-smoking nights.

It could be - Different ship different amount of smoke. We're pretty sensitive to smoke to begin with and that may be the answer. We pretty much avoid the casino anyway unless were forced to walk through it to get somewhere quickly.

On a different note -We had 5 free coupons to use the new machine (I forgot what they call it) they've installed on their ships and it was hard for us to find a time to use it without being bothered with the smell. After the end of the cruise we found out that it was open 24 hours a day & we could have used it at 7 in the morning when there was no one around.

  4. No smoking on formal nights? Thank you for that info. I will get in some time at the casino after all on my upcoming Ruby Princess cruise if they do the same.

True that on formal nights there is no smoking in the casino (at least till 11 or 12 midnight) but the tobacco smell still lingers from previous nights and that very afternoon. It all depends on how tolerant you are to the smell if you'll enjoy it or not.
