Thanks for replies. I agree that I should have done some research first but rashly decided to make the booking trusting the agents reassurances re being close to mid deck etc. I won't make that mistake again and nor will I forget to negotiate which cabin suits us best before paying the deposit! Only our third cruise! Will call P and O direct as you suggest. No doubt we will be on B deck in similar number cabin. Calming down now!

Last week I rather spontaneously booked the Adonia Amazon cruise for Dec 2015 with readers on Line and paid £1450 deposit. However at the time of booking whilst we asked for a balcony cabin no mention was made of the cabin number apart from it being on deck A. Thus I called back a couple of hrs later to be told we would be we would be in A076 to the rear of the mid section. I have since learned that A deck can be noisy First thing in the morning and that the position of the cabin is well towards the aft. Thus we would prefer a mid position on a lower deck. Having called Readers on Line now been told that we would only be able to move to B deck and remain in the same position cabin unless we wish to pay £400pp for a mid deck cabin. I am very annoyed that we had no opportunity to agree the cabin and that now some 20 months ahead we are being dealt with like this. Are we able to get a refund from our credit card company if we cancel?

Hi
We have had an aft and a forward A deck cabin and both have suffered from early morning noise from above. It didn't bother us as we are early risers but you may want to consider this.
Since the cruise reverses its course I can't think of any advantages between port or starboard.
The best position for me would be midships on B deck.
Adonia is a lovely ship I'm sure you will have a fantastic time
Thank you for your guidance and will aim to change to a lower deck then. Much appreciated. Regards.

Have only been on 2 cruises with Celebrity and Fred O. Now just booked this cruise very spontaneously but not sure which best side for cabin. Am port side but towards rear on A deck but wonder if a lower deck starboard or more central might be better?

Hi. Booked a different P and O cruise today - the Christmas 2015 Amazon cruise very spontaneously. No idea about P and O or the cruise so hope it's a good un! Only been with 1 celebrity and 1 Fred Olsen to Alaska and Northern lights. So will be different again!

My mother is on the delayed cruise and we are awaiting embarkation tonight. How are you able to see the ships progress as I am a newby!

Oh thank you all very much! We are 2 females and now have 3 cases in with enough for several weeks probably! What a challenge that was. Notto mention the shopping!! We are off today. Yourr replies really helped us.

Just wondering as my v large case is already worryingly full with just the clothing/boots etc for the extreme cold and northern light search.
Are we able to store additional cases as think that we will have more than one each? Or do we just keep it in the cabin as I don't think that I will fit everything in one case..
Are there any perhaps additional clothes provided for the night NL tours?
Panicking as so much to squeeze in!
Help!!

Thank you so much.

Just a quickie is there any free wi-fi on board or is it chargeable?
Also is there a washing line in the bathroom for hanging limited washing on?
Many thanks again.

Oh that is good to know and thank you for reassurance too!

Guess it takes the staff a while to know who is and who isn't. Thank you for advice.

Oh I had the impression that we would be seated together. That sound far nicer to be mixed etc. No bands either then. Thanks for reply once again!

Hello to you all. Just wondering if the all inclusive package we have opted for really does "segregate" us by having AI tables to sit at?? Interesting concept. We are off on Boudicca next Thursday so will find out but just wondering... Any tips to bear in mind??

Cheers and thank you.

Other than a short cruise in Alaska we are now venturing on a bigger cruise to the northern lights. We are not so keen on the idea of dressing up or formal nights and just wondering what the options are, if wishing not to dine in the main dining halls on those evenings - if any. We like to have a drink in the bars etc and are not as anti social as we may sound!
Will I be able to have deposit refunded if cancelling a booking within a week?

Yes when I booked I did think it was a high deposit but didn't realise until I was asked for it and so just paid it. Take it that Readers offers are an agent who offer "deals" but perhaps best to book direct in future. All a learning curve and won't be so rash next time.
