  1. This will not be easy for me to write, but here goes.

My daughter's service dog, Orson was just diagnosed with cancer. We noticed a lump on his face a few weeks ago and took him to the vet. After x-rays, blood-work and a biopsy, the diagnosis was made.

We were told that the type of cancer he has is slow growing. This has not been an easy couple of weeks for us but I wanted to let everyone here know. Please keep Orson in your thoughts.

    Sorry for the sad news.

Lurker Susan here, sorry about your news. I know that Orson will have all the love and support you can give, and from all of us. Susan

  2. What airline are you flying? I have found that Southwest and JetBlue have decent leg room in the bulkhead. We were on Lufthansa and the bulkhead had very little room, no way we could have had a dog there.

We are taking our first flight with my service dog Henri next week to Las Vegas on JetBlue and I have had good luck with them assigning a bulkhead seat. I am trying to figure out which airline we should use to fly to Vancouver for our Alaskan cruise.

    Dianne

Dianne would Alaska airlines work for your flight. In my area they have lots of flights to Seattle and beyond. Susan

  3. Well, not only did we get the downpour of rain but we also had an earthquake this morning. It was registered at 4.0, in the desert area and no damage or injuries. Geezzzz - Anything else......Never mind, just kidding!!!

Saw on TV the pictures of LA area under water. I am thinking of you Roz and Horton. I hope you stay safe and dry. Didn't see anything about the earthquake. In our area we have the ice and rain, very slick roads. Lurker Susan

  4. Hope everyone is well. I havent been able to type but I have been lurking.

Quick updates, My son got engaged and is getting married May 14th. Very exciting!!

Our house at the beach got cancelled because two of the couples backed out when it was time to put down a deposit. Not cool!! We have been pretty upset about it, so we just had to book a cruise! :D

New ship, new line, new airport, inside cabin,( which we are alittle nervous about) and no kids to help. I'm alittle shaky on it, but we will manage.

Heres a pic of the cute couple!!

    Cindy

Cute couple. sometimes it's not right for a vacation. We tried for a cruise for next fall, decided to cancel for various reasons. Susan also a lurker

  5. This banner was on a fence and I used to collect pig things (until I married a dairy farmer. LOL).

In the front of Pike Place market there is a cast iron pig. It has been used for people to donate spare change. I don't know if you saw the pig. Or if has been removed for maintence or other reasons. A lot of people take pictures in front of the pig. It's kind of outside the fish market. A lot of people buy the flowers and take them on board. Like your reviews. Susan

  6. His daddy was full English Labrador retriever and won lots of ribbons in the showring. He was called Decoy but his legal name was Simbetha's Just A Decoy. Mom's name is Victoria, and she is a Fox Red Labrador retriever. I will try to post the link for Gibson's litter at Trial by Jury Kennels. There are some really sweet puppy pictures. The breeder donated Gibson and his sister Gracie to Paws for Freedom so they could learn to be service dogs.

    Thanks,

    Beckie

Very handsome parents. Also good looking litter mates. Susan

  7. Our amazingly trained Service Dogs from CCI, have been trained since they're 6 weeks old to be "non reactors!" They're trained to allow someone with a cane, a walker, a wheelchair and crutches to move around them in the most uncomfortable circumstances and not flinch.

A true Service Dog will not bite, nip or growl.....anytime, anywhere!!!!

I've said this before.....they are "sitting ducks" for poorly behaving dogs. It's our job to protect them!

Thanks Roz for the answer. I have been lurking/reading for a long time. I had thought that the behavior I described was not from a truly trained Service dog. I walk with a cane, and like the fact that the dogs are trained to be careful around canes. My biggest fear is falling. Thanks Susan

  8. Those of you going on a Disney cruise need to check out this Captain Mickey ribbon that this online shop attaches to nylon for dog collars! It is I think third from the bottom in the second row on this link of photos of all their ribbon choices: /64/"]http://greatlakespetshop.com/ribbons/#7315prettyPhoto[gallery]/64/ The online shop is Great Lakes Pet Shop and I found out about them on Instagram. If I were going on a Disney ship, I would soooo get this collar! It has a red background and has a repeating pattern of the three-circle Mickey head, the big face circle made out of a white life preserver ring, with a captain's hat on it.

Very nice ribbons. Thanks for the information. Susan

  9. [quote name=Caribbean Chris;

Funniest elevator moment - it stopped for new people getting on' date=' getting pretty crowded, and I gave Raylene a command quietly (I thought) to "Back Up." All the other passengers obediently started shuffling little steps backward. I explained I was talking to the dog, not them.[/quote]

    Loved the elevator story.

About Handicap placards, had a woman question us after we were backing out of our parking space about us not having placard displayed. Our state doesn't want anyone driving with the placard displayed. So when we start backing out I remove it and put it in one area so I don't lose it. I don't have a visual handicap. She was kinda of nice about it.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR late.

Aruba is getting big and someone with get a well trained and loved service dog.

    Susan

  10. Hi Honey's, I'm home

Welcome home to both of you.

First; welcome to Sarah & Jules.

Also welcome to Sarah and Jules

There were two other dogs onboard; a coon dog [medic-alert], named "Chase" who every time he and Horton saw each other they did the cutest dance. He had his own box in the crew closet and there was a Chiauhau[sp] who was a Service Dog as much as I'm the Queen of England!

Roz I didn't know you were the Queen of England, Your Majesty LOL. I think that Horton and Chase could recognise that both of them are TRUE service dogs, hence the dance. Maybe the little dog was for seasickness, just kidding.

Strangers are in love with our stories and our dogs!

I like the stories and the information and help given.

Now, who are you referring to as an "old bird" - Seriously, I mean SERIOUSLY!!!! I double-dog-dare any of you to keep up with this old codger!!!!!!!! I'm a fury to be reckoned with when it comes to walking from the Dining Room to the Theatre and someone tries to beat me to a seat!!! I make "Roadrunner" look like road kill! :)

It must of have been someone who sneaked on this board and used user names to post bad information about you. LOL

Welcome home again. You were talking about you and Horton getting on a crowded elevator and your adventures.

    All the best Susan
  11. It is good that CCI is going to work with the VA to provide qualified service dogs for the Vets that truly need them. A couple of problems I see, my opinion. Is the Vet truly in need of a PTSD dog,or are they faking it? My son has seen some people fake their PTSD to get out of things. What would it do to the real PTSD vets now that have trained their dog to help them? I wish them all good luck with the training and future training of the public, also. Susan

  12. Thank you so much sweet Nancy. I love your support!♥I hope to live a long time, I think Morey's birthday will always be an important day for me!

Your Morey's birthday will always be an important day to you. I am so glad that you had your family around to help you and Horton. I am happy that you were able to share more memories with your family.

Fairbourne I love your stories about Aruba. Thanks for everything you do to help other people. I do like reading and following all of everybodies stories and experiences. Susan

  13. Just her screen name tells us that in Susan's world every vowel & syllable must be used to identify yourself!

I actually used the names of 2 of my previous cats and my present cat to get my screen name. I used Freckles =frec my present cat; General a gorgeous russian blue =gen; and Swirls =swl. So since I usually read the board about the service dogs first, that's how I chose my name. Fairbourne thanks for all the information about Aruba and the pictures. And thanks to everybody that posts on here. Susan:)

  14. Spit over your left shoulder and turn around three times!!!!!! I have no idea why......but it's supposed to keep all the "pox's" away!!!! What's a pox?

So I looked it up on google and the last one is what I think you are referring to as a pox. At least that's how I would think of it. Like a Pox on you and your family. Susan

    pox

    [poks]

    NOUN [PATHOLOGY]

    1.

a disease characterized by multiple skin pustules, as smallpox.

    2.

    syphilis

    3.

Plant Pathology a disease of sweet potatoes, characterized by numerous pitlike lesions on the roots, caused by a fungus, Streptomyces ipomoea.

    4.

(used interjectionally to express distaste, rejection, aversion, etc.): A pox on you and your bright ideas!

  15. :p  ;)

I learn so much from this forum. I tried to copy Roz's post about letting service dogs on life boats. I also admire all of you that have service dogs, and the puppy raisers. I like the pictures and the updates on all the dogs. I was joking to my DH that I need to go to Amazon.com,buy a fake certificate, leash and vest for our cat. So our cat can come on cruises with us--------NOT. Again Thank you for all the correct information and pictures. Those of us not cruizing love to hear (read) about your adventures. Susan a Lurker
