  1. All your comments are very interesting.  I also heard they will be adding 360 to the Enchanted.

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but my suggestion is they eliminate the smoking in the casino all together.  That beautiful new ship and what we learned from Covid should have been the best time to do that.  Give the smokers another spot that non smokers can stay out of without giving up what is usually a good experience.

We were recently on the Enchanted and our ONLY complaint about the whole experience was the Casino.  And we are casino people.  We did save money though since we did not use the casino as often as we normally do since the putrid smell kept us out.  We even wore masks in there.  UGH!

Many casinos have done away with the smoking and it has not hurt their attendance.  We heard many others making the same comments.

We noticed smokers on both sides of the casino and nothing was said to them.  We also noticed many just sitting at a slot machine and only occasionally playing just so they could smoke.  And as someone else mentioned, it has always been no smoking on formal nights, but not here.

Sorry for my rant but having lost both parents to smoking related diseases, and being very sensitive to the smell, it is a sore spot with me.

  2. As a group cruising on Royal Caribbean for the first time, we have some questions I hope someone here can answer.

    1.  Are the dinner menus posted either the day before or earlier the same day?  We have some in the group who would like to plan alternatives if the menu is not what they want.

    2.  Can we order items not on the printed menu, such as a hamburger or plain spaghetti?  (For the picky kid)

    3.  On the Mariner of the Seas, are there tables for 10 in the Main Dining Room?

    4.  Should we book the Escape Room prior to the cruise?

    5.  Can we request the connecting balcony doors be opened prior to embarking?

Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

  3. Predisclosure - Not a smoker.  Grateful that is one habit I never took up, but grew up with smokers. (Sorry - they both passed away due to smoking related diseases, so I might be a little biased.)

I am hoping with all the Covid-19 issues, the cruise ships will consider limiting the smoking areas even more.  I enjoy the casino, but dread going in there because of all the smoke.  And yes, they say part of the casino is non-smoking, but any non-smoker knows, the room is not large enough, nor ventilated enough to block out the smoke anywhere in there.  And generally, on the non-smoking nights, the Casino is always very crowded.  That should tell the cruise lines something.

They do have the Cigar/smoking room and a few other areas to smoke.  I understand the addiction and enjoyment some have and that they need a place to go.

Also, the comment one person made about disabled people eating too much doesn't make sense.  Are they disabled because they eat too much or do they retain their weight because they are disabled and can't exercise as much.  Also, their eating does not affect another person's health where second hand smoke definitely affects those around them.  So, not a fair comparison.

  4. Grand Princess San Francisco to Hawaii - YEP!  That ship!

February 21 -  March 7, 2020. Oops!  We ended up quarantined on the ship until March 12 and then flown overnight (Escorted by Medical people in full hazmat suits) to be quarantined again at Dobbins Air Force base outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  It ended up being a 5 week vacation. (But my husband calls it an incarceration.).  What an experience.

But now vaccinated and looking forward to cruising again.  Just want to do it safely.
