  1. SHIP: Solstice

    CABIN #: 3103

    DECK #: 3

    CLASS: Ocean view accessible cabin

    AREA: Front of ship

    BED NEAR:  Middle of room

QUIET?: No - every morning from about 5am there were sounds of scraping, banging etc. Originally we thought it was the anchor going down but it even occurred on sea days - maybe from the Solstice Theatre which is very close.

    BALCONY VIEW:  Ocean view only

    BALCONY SIZE: No

    WIND A PROBLEM?: none

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: none

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:  This is a very large room with heaps and heaps of storage. The noise each morning would put me off booking this cabin again.

  2. SHIP: Solstice

    CABIN #: 8236

    DECK #: 8

    CLASS: Veranda

    AREA: Mid Ship

    BED NEAR: Window

    QUIET?: very

BALCONY VIEW: amazing - on the hump - so straight out to sea. Could also see to the front and rear of the ship.

BALCONY SIZE: Normal - 2 chairs and a table

    WIND A PROBLEM?: none

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: none

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:  Great cabin, near mid ship lifts. Would definitely book this again.

  3. SHIP: Eclipse

    CABIN #: 8224

    DECK #: 8

    CLASS: 1A

AREA: Mid ship - very close to mid ship elevators

    BED NEAR: Wardrobe

    QUIET?: Yes very quiet

BALCONY VIEW: Unobstructed to the front - you can't see to the back because of the hump.

BALCONY SIZE: Larger than normal - on the slant of the hump - 2 chairs and a table

    WIND A PROBLEM?: No

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: No

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Great mid ship balcony cabin. Would happily book again.

  4. Here is a listing of cabins affected by the X on the side of Solstice. I can't find the link to the pdf doc. We had originally booked 7178, I believe it was and after reading comments and seeing pictures, we booked a different cabin on deck 8. I've read that some people didn't have a problem with the obstruction but I was glad I changed my cabin.

    7266 No Obstruction

    7268 No Obstruction

    7270 Partial Obstruction

    7272 Mostly/All Obstructed

    7274 Partial Obstruction

    7276 Partial Obstruction

    7278 Mostly/All Obstructed

    7280 Partial Obstruction

    7282 No Obstruction

    7284 No Obstruction

Thanks So much for compiling this list. We are in 7284 in October 2017.

  5. I rang Celebrity in Australia and they had no knowledge of it and the guy even said only Royal Carribbean had a sale. The website is down as well. :-(

  9. Welcome back Carolyn, thanks for posting! What were your thoughts on Solstice? Any "need knows" for a first time Celebrity cruiser?

There is nothing I can really say but "Enjoy". This was our second Celebrity cruise (first one, Mediterranean on Reflection in 2013) and we have been impressed both times. We did just about everything on board on offer but also had time to relax on our balcony or in a bar and watch the world go by. Sit back and relax and let someone else cook, clean and entertain you.

I hope you have the same lovely holiday we had.

  10. I can't speak on their behalf but I would assume they couldn't be bothered getting dressed up when on holidays ;)

I definitely know the feeling and have to weigh up whether I'd rather have the nice meal and have to put effort into dressing well or just go casual and relaxed!

When you have to wear suits/collars with slacks every day for work it's the last thing you want to do when on holidays! :p

You are exactly right!! Just couldn't be bothered, we were on holiday! We enjoyed the food every night whether in the dining room, buffet or room service.

  11. I actually rang Celebrity here in Australia and they told me you couldn't upgrade on board. So much misinformation!!!

I'm so pleased Cruise Critic gives us this opportunity to share information - vital if we want to get things right.:)

I will now, definitely, just wait and see what's offered in the Classic package - I love to drink wine but if I like one I'm very happy to stick with it for the whole cruise!!!

    Thank you for responding.
