So we just were offered an upgrade to connecting Mini-suites on BA. Wondering where the door is located inside the room? Looks like one room has the bed by the balcony and the other room has the sofa there? Anyone had a connecting room? Also, I was told they will open the balconys up too?
They probably will not open it. However, I did one cruise when my parents were next to us. I just closed the door each time and braced it with a chair.
How to: so the "key" is a square. To open it, bring a corkscrew and then go get 2-3 wooden coffee stirrers on board. Place the stirrer in the hole and then twist with the corkscrew. It takes a few minutes but it will open.
The double balcony is nice

The connecting door is almost always across from the bathroom door on that empty wall.

If my memory serves me right there are. I think every NCL ship has them.

There is no scale in port and it is not enforced

I went last year from NY the 2nd week of April and it was not that rough. Should be fine

If you want to be on the ship early, get there around 10:30 and you will be on by 11:30

Are the current promo's good all month?
Balcony and below you pick 1, minisuite you pick 2 promos?
Still stinks you have to pay the tax on the beverage package. $100 each

What is Horseshoe Bay? I have only gotten ferry/ bus ticket pass.
It's a really nice beach with powered pink sand. It's really amazing.
The bus will take you there.

It's $40 per day. Not sure if an F250 would fit. Since your already in $280 we usually take a car service which costs us about $280 for a car or $400 for an SUV depending on whose going. It's much easier.

I've had Dan the Man twice along with Dan Dan and Julie once each. I know everyone loves Julie but we actually thought the other two were better.

2-3 years ago you could get a 2 day unlimited bus and ferry package for $25PP at the hut right by the ship. You really do not need to get it ahead of time. I think each zone was $2 and we choose just to get the unlimited. It worked great.
The buses and ferries take the same tickets. Horseshoe bay is worth the trip, it's great.

The ship will sometimes switch sides, but I find the Starboard side is usually good to watch runners.

I had this happen once with NCL. If you did not tell them at the pier you are probably out of luck, as I was. However, I had travel insurance which reimbursed me to buy a new suitcase.
Good luck

It depends, but it can be as early as 6:30-7am

If you are ok with the $600 I would take it. Do not assume the deal will get better

I just got upgraded to a Mini Suite on the Breakaway..doesn't look like a big difference..but kinda cool I guess..Anyone ever have this room?
I've actually had both rooms on the BA. The Mini suite has a bigger bathroom and is maybe 1 foot wider than the balcony room. The balconies themselves are the same. Although it seems small the extra space does help. On some cruises the price difference is relatively small between the rooms. If it was I would get the mini suits. Sometimes I've seen $500-600+ more for the mini suite room which probably isn't worth it.
Overall it's a choice. The mini suite does give you some extra room which is nice. Even if it isn't technically wider the room being longer with the bigger bathroom makes it feel bigger.

You can go to the shore excursion desk and reserve a clamshell in certain areas. The best is to the right of the Barcardi bar area. You can also snorkel right there if you go out a ways. In April there has to be 100+ people doing it. I was just swimming close to shore and saw a stingray. Have fun!!!!!

It was on the tv in the rooms back in 2012

Rock of Ages on the BA is just like the movie version that was rated PG-13. The F-bomb is used a few times, drug use, alcohol use & suggestive dialog.
Bingo!!! Nailed it!!!

I'm not positive but I believe from reading in other posts that there is a Thanksgiving meal.

Put some ribbon on your luggage!!!! It helps finding it in the airport and also when you get off the ship.
Have fun, you will love it!!!!

Realistically, it's 1 per day. I know some CC members say you can go to one place for apps, one for dinner, one for dessert but no one does this and it's not practical. Did the UDP last time all week and it was fantastic!!!!

The Gem is really nice and seems to be known at the party/fun ship by the crew. They all love it. The BA is bigger and you need to plan a little more, but it is nice also. I call the BA vs the Gem/Jewel a "different experience."
In March it may not be as crowded so that may help.
Never went RCL but it seems nice. All depends whether you want your own table and not to have to dress up for dinner????
Does the Gem feel like an old boat?

There is a lot more planning needed on the Breakaway than then Gem because the Gem is smaller. I actually like the Jewel class ships better. I wouldn't worry about traveling it having a good time on the Gem. The Gem is known as the party ship.
