  1. Hello everyone,

Will be on an Allure 4-night cruise shortly with a decent sized group, 8 cabins (27 people). We were hoping to have one dinner all together in the main dining room.  Has anyone had any luck talking to the head waiter once they board and arranging something like this? We all have any-time dining and the reservations left are very limited.

    Thanks!

When was the last time you asked a cop pulling you over for a more convenient time to chat? No one has any control over this-- any time you reenter the US it should be expected.

This isn't a customer service lapse on Celebrity's part-- they have a large amount of people that need to clear immigration before the ship itself is cleared. If no one can get off the ship until everyone is processed then inconveniencing a few people that wanted to sleep in shouldn't be a big deal. Your wife can always go right back to bed afterwards.

If this immigration inspection was random, I’d agree with you 100%. This is apparently standard for a cruise calling on Key West after visiting other countries. From that standpoint, yes, I do believe it is a customer service lapse if you know that a late-itinerary visit to Key West will result in a very early morning for all passengers. Putting an asterisk next to Key West in the advertised itinerary, with an available explanation, would certainly be appropriate. People might not choose that itinerary, or at least it wouldn’t be a surprise the night before. If I was a travel agent, which maybe I should have used, I would certainly tell my clients about this.

  3. My wife is currently on Celebrity Equinox which will be stopping in Key West tomorrow (Jan-8). This is the last stop of the cruise and they were just informed that there is a mandatory immigration inspection in the morning. They were given a time of 7:15 am for this inspection. I understand the need for this inspection, but that's a bit early on a vacation day, particularly on a day in which they weren't going to be in any particular rush to get off the ship. Two things:

    • It would have been nice to know that this would be occurring ahead of time. Maybe they would have considered another itinerary
    • Has anyone had luck moving their inspection time back to a more reasonable time, or are they stuck having to show up at 7:15?

I've attached the letter that they got. Not a great way to start the last full day of a cruise!!

    Thanks for everyone's input.

  4. Was the itinerary for the January 12 Equinox sailing changed? Confirmation says:

    Miami

    Key West

    Sea

    Costa Maya

    Cozumel

    George Town

    Sea Miami

Cruise planner all of a sudden has Costa Maya and George Town Swapped. Was this announced anywhere that I missed? Glad I caught it, I have third party excursions booked in both ports.

  5. Thanks everyone for the replies!

If we arrive relatively early, is there a good chance that we’ll be able to get reservations at the specialty restaurants for when we want them, most likely Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at around 8?

  6. Hi everyone,

    Happy New Year!!

I’m sailing on the Equinox in a few weeks and I’m looking for some tips for embarkation day. I plan on arriving early so that I can book reservations for my 4 night specialty dining package. Any suggestions as to where the best place to go to do this? I want to get this taken care of ASAP so that we aren’t stuck eating dinner at 5:00pm.

Once I’ve got that taken care of, what should we do? Any suggestions for lunch without too much of a crowd? What time might we expect for our cabin to be ready?

This is is our first time on X and our first cruise in a long time, so I’m open to any suggestions you experienced cruisers can offer.

Thanks in advance for your input!

  7. Thanks for the reply...I looked there previously and only saw a review for that cabin on the Eclipse. If its the same as the other S-Class ships, I guess my questions have been answered.

several hints for you. If you visit the Celebrity board here, under Cruise Lines A-O, there is a sticky at the top of the page with cabin reviews for cabins on S class ships. A review of that cabin on any of the S class will be the same. The lifeboats are two decks below, so not a concern unless you hang over the side of your balcony looking straight down. To tell where your bed is located, look at the deck plans. Plan alternates. When the cabin is for 3/4 guests, the sofabed will always be by the balcony, with bunk above it. So the cabin next to it will have the bed by the balcony and the couch by the closets/bath. Your cabin is not a triple/quad, so the bed will be by the balcony. It is a connecting cabin, but there is not an interior connecting door. The cabins can be made to connect through an exterior vestibule. EM
  8. Hello,

Have this cabin booked for an upcoming cruise. Has anyone here ever stayed in this cabin? Wondering if the view from the balcony is obstructed at all by the lifeboats below? Also, is the bed or the couch near the balcony in this cabin.

    Thanks!!
