We were on the Imagination in December and my kids really enjoyed the kids clubs. My 7 year old had a difficult first night, but I think that had more to do with him being over tired. He had a better time when he was better rested. Hopefully your next experience will be much better!

I love your review!! I have been on this same cruise 2x. It's so easy and relaxing, and for us, very easy to get to. It's true that the Cubs used to have spring training on Catalina. I read that the curse supposedly started on Catalina Island. They haven't had their spring training there for years though. I look forward to reading the rest of your review!

For all of those saying to just try it well that is all well and good but no one has come back who has raved about these changes and posted any menus for the 7/8 day itineraries. Also, the port of call section will always be different so for those of us who don't like change it's very disconcerting to go in blind and not know if there is anything that will be appealing.
It might make you feel better to know that the "Port of Call" menu is just one app and one entrée out of many choices. I saw a lot of familiar items on the menu last month.

I was on the Imagination this December and our menu was the same as the one Zydeco posted for his 4 day cruise. We thought most of the food was pretty good. We didn't have any dishes that were offered Family Style. Actually, I tried to get the calamari served Family Style, and they brought it all in individual dishes.

My husband smokes cigars and when we were in Ensenada he for both Cubans and some cigars made in Ensenada. He got them on the main street there. They only sold cigars. He said the Cubans were OK, but the local ones were awesome! And they can be brought back!

Hmm...that seems odd. He always got back to me right away. Could his response be in your spam folder?

Haven't seen him either, but the Towel Elephant was on the pier for pictures.Gheez we were just a few feet away from each other! I was looking for you in the club at night but don't think I ever saw you.

Found him and his DW hiding in the Piano Bar. The piano guy was excellant. Too bad he finished his contract on our cruise.
We really enjoyed the guy in the piano bar. One night my husband got to sing with him. After he was supposed to be finished for the night he continued to play, and even sang some songs from his home country.
We were on the Imagination in December and had a great time. I saw cornbread on the lunch buffet one afternoon and had to laugh. It was the bread with corn on top. Not good!!

Your cornbread struggle with Carnival cracks me up! My DH is from Alabama, and he has very strict rules about his cornbread. Lord help us all if its sweet!! I read him your posts about cornbread, and he was in total agreement with you. That stuff wasn't real cornbread!!

Wow Ned, that is some really good info there.
Thanks for your help dip*****.
I know it's really silly, and a bit immature, but every time I read this I crack up.

I don't have an answer to your question, but my husband says "Roll Tide!".

Do you think we have much of a chance in December? We leave on the same cruise early in December.

I get very swollen when I travel. I also read the thread posted above, and I did some YouTube research on dry brushing. I found a similar brush at the dollar store, and plan to try this on our cruise in a few weeks. I also remember somebody saying they put the life vest under the mattress at the foot of the bed at night. This kept their feet elevated while they slept.

You may have better luck with this than we are having. The Queen Mary and the Maya both have park and cruise rates. For our trip they are close to $250 a night, and we need two rooms. Because we won't be able to leave until late afternoon the day before our cruise, we are staying in Redlands, and driving the last hour and a half the day of our cruise. On the West Coast Departures board there are several posts that have a discount code for the Maya. Unfortunately it didn't work for our dates.

I thought I had heard they were open on the first night on the shorter sailings. We will be on the Imagination in December.

There is a review on the Miracle by Star song and she gives very detailed info on parking close to the pier for $5 a day. A big savings! My husband and I are taking our kids and my parents on their first cruise in December. We are coming from AZ also. Should be fun!!

I really like Bonine. I believe the generic name is meclazine. I get mine at Walmart, but I heard it can be bought at Costco for $5 for 100 pills. It doesn't make me drowsy at all. I love it! I also took ginger, and Hylands motion sickness tablets. We uses all of them, and thought the Bonine was the best. Also, the only time I felt ill, I looked to the horizon and felt better right away. Have fun, and good luck!

How do I find out if the parties are held on our 4 night Imagination cruise? I think my little ones would really enjoy it!

I'm really enjoying your review. I hope my Mom and I can do something like this someday. In December my husband and I are taking my parents and our young kids on their first cruise. Maybe she will get bitten by the cruise bug!

Is Splendor coming back to Long Beach?

So, just to clarify, we don't know, for sure, what ship we will be getting on the west, right? I've really been hoping for a ship that has Guy's and Blue Iguana.
