What a great review summed up the cruise to a "T" superb was great meeting up with you guy's only sorry we did not have more time for a chat, who knows our path may cross again one day.

We are busy planning our Japan trip for April 2020 the roll call is slow but we have a lady who has fantastically put together lots of tours all of which look great but at a price Japan is expensive, link to roll call in my signature.

Once again great report and very good read with pictures which are also great.

On health front all happening next week fingers crossed. Be good enjoy your cruises.

My opinion based on NCL Spirit (March 2018) and Celebrity Millennium (Jan 2018)

Ship overall NCL old with eastern flavor but nice -- Celeb Ship little Newer more modern -- Both equal IMHO

Cabins NCL smaller bathroom OK good shower toilet has sliding door very small, storage space very good also includes coffee maker with plenty of supplies super bed and great linens.

Cabins Celeb A little bigger and larger balcony, bathroom good, storage very good, no coffee maker, bed etc same.

Cabin Celeb just has edge.

Food NCL Food was very good with a good selection from Menu 4 places to eat evening meal 2 main restaurant + Asia + Buffet Main Dining room seats 480 but is very spacious with tables well spaced apart. 3 specialty restaurants from A La Carte Menu not fixed price. Teppanyaki fixed 29.95$ also 24 hour Cafe serving Wings Burgers Fish & Chips etc very good. Buffet Poor.

Food Celeb Not as good as NCL limited choices of places to eat, no 24 hour cafe, Buffet very good.

Bars and Drinks Package- Bars on NCL are not great just OK however drinks package selection very good.

Celeb Bars are better Martini Bar will not be beaten Drinks selection on package not as good.

Must go with Celeb for Martini bar alone.

Entertainment - Shows on NCL first class very very good, other activities not appealing to me, night time in Sky Lounge buzzing great, very much partying ship at night.

Celeb better theater however shows not up to NCL standard, activities better, night time good not as much partying though silent disco is a hoot.

This is hard one so going to say Equal

Dress Code NCL is freestyle so most things go some and some. Being snobbish dress code better on Celeb.

In conclusion yes would do another NCL trip not sure I would like the large ships, however not jumping ship Celebrity still my preferred cruise line.

I have tried to be fair and honest and this is just my opinion so not lets start world war 3.

DH and I were looking at this cruise, but discovered that we didn't haven enough vacation time to do it properly. We were both laid off in 2016, and both started new jobs in 2017, so our vacation clocks dropped back to two weeks of leave per year. (Frustrating American leave policies.)

 

We wish you the best, because this itinerary looks wonderful!

My son (my travel agent) phoned NCL today and they think it is chargeable...but weren't sure...he raised it with their main contact after that and has an update that he will give me tonight I will let you know.

 

When I called they also said chargeable so hopefully I will have some better news tonight as sailing Wednesday next week :)

I am just of Spirit on the first day in Main dining room waiter added 10% and we had to sign for it, later during our meal she returned saying they were no long charging 10% on UDP and I sign a credit note. After that all DRINKS no 10%. Will it Last :eek::eek:

I'm confused. The OP is going in March, which means it will be a Canary Isles cruise (unless something has happened to that particular itinerary). It shouldn't go anywhere near Cannes or Kotor.

 

Looking at older posts it seems you are both on the 15th March sailing.

 

Has that itinerary changed? I certainly hope it won't be all the way over at Kotor, as it needs to be back in Barcelona on the 25th to pick me up. :)

We do tend to eat late but were hoping for 8.30ish and could only book 9pm for all the nights.

We have been used to smaller ships where it is often a case of "Hunt the live music"!

Have not seen you on the roll call yet there are spaces on a nice trip from Cannes to Nice-Eze & Monte Carlo also nice tour in Kotor just 3 spaces left on each.

I love to read everyone's tips...but my question is where would you go to sit, read and enjoy the ocean in a quiet area? This is such a post intensive cruise and after a long day in port, my daughter and I both love to relax, read and enjoy the scenery...I like to enjoy an adult beverage too![/quote

We have just booked our first NCL cruise (Spirit, round trip Barcelona in March).

We have read many reviews and posts but would be grateful for any hints and tips for cruising on the Spirit.

We have a very small amount of OBC, included gratuities and UBP.

We were thinking of waiting until we board to book the specialty restaurants - is this a good idea?

Which speciality restaurants should we book?

Will the MDR be open on embarkation day?

Which bars are the best/quietest?

Anything else that we should know?
