Okay, here’s one. I’m trying to think. Are there any other lines that have the elevators in a straight line across like this and not facing each other? There have to be, right? I’m just not thinking of any now. I’ve seen some folks with mobility issues (and just slow folks) struggle to make the elevator when it dings almost all the way across the width of the ship

  2. I too love smaller ships. Love to know my crew and fellow pax. Wanted to try Oceana but now that NCL owns them I will not sail as I won't give 1 penny to NCL.

Royal has to realize many long time cruisers are now empty nesters with LOTS of disposable income. We cruise many times per year. Families have lots of bills and don't have the disposable income we have.

Build some new smaller ships. Icon is the ugliest ship I've ever seen!

    More ugly than NCL Epic!!!

  3. YC area on Ocean Cay faces the windward side of the island. That's why there's so many rocks and strong surf. I walked across the road and found few waves and less rocks(,water shoe's still recommend). Bar on that beach had my rum so getting a drink was no problem.

I took the tram to the beach to get a lay of the land and walked back to the ship(easy).

I ate lunch out on the porch with a beautiful view and breeze. Had the carni asda salad(good but a little to rare for me) and the lobster roll (excellent with little mayo or filler).

Over all didn't care for YC on Meraviglia as much as other ships. Sundeck to small not many food choices as Seaside or Seashore. Plus many ghetto people (sneak in or brought in from friends in YC). But had to do it once to try it.

But Ocean Cay now my favorite private island of all. With Halfmoon cay #2 Princess cay#3 Little stirrup cay (Norwegian) #4 and Coco cay #5 Labadee #6. Royal Caribbean needs to take some lessons from MSC on how to do things right!!

  4. I had a front facing spa balcony cabin on Celebration in April. Cabin was on deck 17 jest below the bridge. Loved the view balcony was huge. Great for afternoon tanning (nude) as no one could see you. Private express elevator from deck 17 to deck 5.

Spa was a complete let down 👇. Not worth getting a day pass let alone a week pass.

Regular steam and aroma steam was O.K. infer red sauna was nothing. The heated tile loungers were barley warm and I layed on all of them. Locker rooms and coed sauna were free to anyone. Jacuzzi or thalsotherapy pool in spa was warm but had no bubble action. Very sad for a brand new ship!

I really booked the room for the location and size of the balcony.

No spa amenities other than a small jar of chocolate mint scrub. Got better stuff(scrub a scrub pad,lip balm lavender pillow spy )and a better spa experience on Breeze a few years ago.

While I did enjoy my room location was far from anything except serenity deck. Elevators are small and often crowded making for a long wait at peak times. Celebration was nice to try once but it's not for me. I love Conquest class best!

  5. Forgot to mention there were constant announcements about using your own cabin toilet not the public restrooms. Also no salt and pepper shakers on any tables and all the guest laundromats were closed and locked. The buffet was served by the crew. But they did hand out menus in the dining room, which I never saw whipped off between guest. I ordered from my phone with the medallion app.

  6. Just came back from Caribbean Princess this morning. I feel ripped off! After eating on Princess cay and dinner Sunday night went to bed. Woke up at 3:30 am with non stop diarrhea until 630 am. Fell back asleep till 9am and it started again till noon. Took an amodium tablet. At 1:45 got out bed vomit. Had told my bartender I hadn't vomit in almost 20 years. Went back to bed

At 5:30pm. I had to eat something went to the buffet had plain rice ,bread and mashed potatoes. Drank lots of water back to bed. Tues morning had milk and a doughnut back to bed. Got up at noon went to buffet had 2 chicken 🍗 and 2 rolls. Went to Outrigger bar to tell my bartender where I was. He was on break. Tried to drink a rum and coke but not into it. Went to buffet had some mashed potatoes and roast beef kept it down sill diarrhea. Back to bed. Finally Wednesday morning I felt about 90 percent better. But cruise now half over.

Why can't Princess fix this problem? They're the only cruises line has this happening so often.

I work in the food business and wash my hands constantly. I've been on over 100 cruises and have never spent a day in bed until now.

Other guest I spoke to told me they also got diarrhea from the food on Princess cay.

I will now be very careful what I eat when I sail Princess as don't think the crew handles the food properly.

  7. Just got an "emergency notice" email about delayed boarding for this Saturday Caribbean Princess because the ship has to be cleaned because of gastrointestinal illness on the current sailing.

    Boarding now delayed till 12:30.

I'm still going down to the pier at 10:30 but will wait if I have to. Plan to bring Xtra Purell.

Just wondering if you ordered breakfast room service.

I have heard that there is no charge for continental breakfast but from what you have stated, it looks like you can order anything off the breakfast service menu with no charge? FWIW that should be the way it is for concierge rooms as they do advertise as a perk for choosing this class of stateroom that they have an expanded breakfast menu (my wife and I have had it several times in concierge) and it would be nice if there was no charge for it.

We are going on the Reflection in July and hope the OV cafe continues to have the made to order grill station set up. It is a great option especially on a port heavy Greece itinerary like we are going to be doing! They did not seem to have it going on our recent 5 night cruise on the Solstice.

No I didn't order room service. The in room menu had no charge listed but if you look at the t.v. there was $9.95 charge. I was in a suite so I don't know if I would have been charged or not.

Can I ask if you happened by the OV Cafe before dinner service? A fellow cruiser watched a video about reasons to cruise Celebrity and scones were mentioned. I’ve heard yes and I’ve heard no regarding availability of scones and tea offerings since January 1, so it may be ship dependent. My fingers are crossed for scones being available.

Was on Reflection 1/22-1/29 yes there were scones at tea time( around 3pm). Also jam and clotted cream. As well as other sweets.

  10. Just came off Reflection yesterday. Ate at the Porch Thursday. No wind issues ( just left SXM). Food was very average. Had buffalo wings (very good) lobster bisque (worst I ever had) mussels in a delicious cream sauce but they used the large green mussels which were very chewy. Had the desert sampler trio. Pretty good.

Service was slow only 2 servers for 5 tables (12) guest.

The table next to mine (5) ordered 2 of the seafood towers ($15.00) each and they were huge!

Enjoyed Lawn club grill more. Pre cruise $38.00 inc gray.

Food was very good especially the flat breads and lobster Mac and cheese.

    Good luck,have fun.

Did the same 9 night itinerary  RLMorgan posted above, just returned home last Sunday.

The ship can generally hit 18 and 19 knots, but that is it.

The wait staff in MDR said the new menus were to appear this week, so we still had the old classics on the menu.

One of the centrum elevators was out the entire week, and a couple of other elevators kept cancelling your floor request.  That is, you are on 4 and press to go up to 9.  Someone on 5 has it stop there, and as the door opens, the button lighted for 9th floor goes out.  So you would to constantly reenter the floor you were after or could go anywhere, including back down.

We caught Chops on a bad night.  Giovanni’s was a solid 10 though.

That same elevator was out on my b2b Grandeur cruise in December. I think she needs a "mini" dry dock.

If I stockpile food from lunch buffet and the Mast Grill, I wonder if someone would heat it for me later that evening?

That's what the hair dryer is for. Don't laugh I've warmed up lots of food with it. Pizza comes out pretty good just heat the cheese side(the fat in the cheese gets it hot enough to warm the crust).

  13. Currently on the second leg of a b2b on Grandeur of the Seas. Just found out from crew why they won't come back to this ship on their next contract. There is no food available to crew after 11:30 pm. They go to bed hungry.

All closing bar staff casino and workers have nothing to eat after 11:30. Unless you have snack food stashed in your cabin.

I find this totally unacceptable and am absolutely livid about this situation.

When I get home emails and phone calls will be made by me to Royal about this.

The crew is what makes your company money. How dare you as a company treat your employees like this.

I'm on Grandeur again in February and will be bringing food( dry noodles) to help the crew get through the night.

We as passengers need to speak up to defend the crew members that we know and love that go the distance to take such good care of us.

    Take action!

Otherwise your favorite crewmember may leave you and Royal forever!

  14. What about the deposit money you'll loose on the Carnival cruise. You have to factor that into overall cost comparison.

I've gotten great prices on either cruise line any time of year. The worst price is Princess $1.00 deposit sale.

Best Carnival prices are about 60 days or less from sailing date.

Only you know what's right for you!

  15. I'm sailing Jewel Nov. 6 (first cruise back in USA) and can see the dining menus are very different than usual.

But don't get your hopes up. The menu you see now is for a European cruise. Things can change dramatically when she gets here.

It depends on what they can get from their U.S. food vendors. I've sailed after a T.A. and found some unusual condiments in the W.J. which were gone in a couple days.

    Fingers crossed we get lucky!

Most of those perks were not mentioned on my recent FOTS cruise in room letter. I just knew about them from my previous D+ cruises. Did my free play and 2 days of internet. And my free drinks of course!
