  1. Carolyn if your computer or tablet has HDMI out then you can plug it into the spare HDMI port that is on the desk and watch it on the bigger screen.

Thanks for the info. We are also in a Deluxe veranda suite.

The coffee maker is no big deal...I don't drink coffee and DH likes to get out and get his own early. We do like a DVD player though. We can always use the computer, but it is nice to see the show on a bigger screen.

    Thanks again for checking.

    Carolyn

  2. We do not have a DVD player in our suite but we are in a Deluxe veranda suite, in the past when were on the Mainer and Voyager they had DVD players in the concierge level suites but this trip we decided to go with the veranda level

Not having the dvd player and Illy coffee maker for us in nice since we now have more room for unpacking some of our items and a place to keep a couple of bottles of red wine at the ready.

I ordered a set of these plugs from amazon and they seem to be working fine. If I see that they have a DVD player for borrow I will let you know.

  3. Just to follow this up on my previous question, we are on the navigator now ... there are two 110v US style outlets and two round Euro style outlets on the desk. On the makeup table, there are two US-style outlets and one three prong flat Euro-style outlet. Also, next to one of the Euro round outlets is a female HDMI socket for plugging an auxiliary input into, on the Samsung TV you can choose either a DVD player or this HDMI as an input.

On each side of the bed here is a three-prong Euro-style flat outlet on each side of the bed.

There is also the one US/Euro 110v 220v outlet in the bathroom.

  4. Hello all, I thought I would tack this question in here. We will be on the navigator in a week and I was wondering if someone could tell me if this type of outlet adapter (link to plug on amazon) can be used on the outlets that are above the side tables on the bed?

I think they are the flat europlugs by the bed but I was wondering if someone knew for sure, it would be nice for me to be able to plug my phone in by the bed.

    Thank you

  5. Marq,

Thank you for the response. My folks had purchased the tickets and looking at it, it does look like they paid an extra fee for Regent to fly us out of Boise. I will probably talk to the TA and see what the rebate is for us to go ahead and get our own tickets, there is an early morning non-stop out of Boise which would be nice.

    Thank you again/

  6. Hello all,

You might be able to answer a question for me. We will be going on the 18 night Christmas trip from LA to Hawaii and family members asked a couple of questions. The first was which air line do I think we will be flying on (we will be flying from Boise, ID) just using Regent's contracted airlines and the second is which cruise terminal in LA we will be embarking at.

Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful

  7. Jarcon,

It sounds like you and your wife are where I and my wife were about 3 years ago.

I was 39 and she was 35 on our first cruise it was a 7-day in the Baltic on the Voyager. It will be a blur. We did 1-2 excursions a day, it was sometimes tiring but not too bad. The nice thing about it is if you are tired you can cancel an excursion and just stay on the boat.

We stayed in the concierge level rooms and have since stayed at that level. For just the two of us, the rooms are good sized, there is a nice dense curtain that can be pulled between the sleeping area and the sitting area which allowed my wife to take a nap and me to watch tv or sit on the balcony with a drink.

We have not done the spa but there is so much to do on the boat or on land that your head will spin.

Have a blast and if it is just two of you I would recommend requesting to be sat at a mixed table during dinner you get to meet great people from all over and it is a chance to relearn how to sit and take your time enjoying people and a meal.

  8. Mudhen,

That is what we switched to doing on our last cruise was just ordering our drinks to our room. After a day of sightseeing, we would get back to the ship take a little nap, my wife would open a bottle of wine and I would call up and get a Manhattan or another cocktail and then we would get ready for the evening. Kind of a pre-cocktail hour cocktail hour.

Then at the end of the night, I would often have a little night cap brought up to the room.

The only issue I have with the service is that when I get home I just sit there waiting for someone to bring me a drink and put a napkin in my lap when I sit down at the table.

  9. The drinks and service on the Regent are a real treat for my wife and I. Our first cruise on Regent a few years back we asked for a couple of bottles of spirits and also for a few bottles of wine. They were in our room within 30 minutes.

The only problem was the cruise was short and each time we left the room we would find ourselves stopping by a bar for mixed drinks. We drank the bottles of wine but did not even touch spirits.

You will not go wanting, and by the end of your cruise you will feel really spoiled, it is a blast and something to really look forward to.

  10. The level F rooms available are 862 through 870 and the level E rooms are 702 through 712.

We are not going to do concierge level on this trip just because there are a lot of sea days so we are not too concerned with booking the excursions before others, and for restaurant reservations, we are fine with taking what we get since there is always the ability to change things on the ship.

It seems this might be one of those where the E rooms are far forward and the F rooms are too far aft.

  11. Hello folks,

We are looking at booking a cruise on the Navigator with a lot of sea days. The category F suites that are available are a little less money on level 8 but at the aft of the ship and the category E suites that are available are on level 7 towards the front.

They are the same size but I have heard that the vibration might get annoying towards the back. We have been on the Voyager and the Mariner and have not felt vibrations that were annoying, just some vibrations every once in awhile since we were living in a large machine.

If anybody has thoughts on these choices I would appreciate it.

    Thank you,

    Hydro3

  12. We were just on the transatlantic that Travelcat was on. On sea days at 1:00 pm there were dance lessons, and then just like Mushroom said each night at 6:00 pm dancing, and then we did a few nights of dancing after the show (usually started around 10:30pm)

Surprisingly the dance floor was almost always pretty packed at 10:30 pm. The band would play both dancing music (swing, waltz, or whatever you requested) and they would also play some more contemporary music.

I would not say it is the best for ballroom dancing, but my wife loved it since she was able to dance with me, and then when I did not want to dance there was always other gentlemen willing to dance with her.

  13. Hey all we are on the cruise with everyone and really enjoying it. Just finished up a galley tour and it is pretty amazing how everything is run and they produce a high end consistent product.

We were listening to the chef when he received a phone call from someone asking what the instant mashed potatoes are used for ... well as it was previously mentioned they are used sometimes as a binder. Usually in the gnocchi, the chef mentioned that sometimes when making gnocchi from fresh potatoes they can have a high water content and need a little binder to make them nice and firm.

  14. Hi there I was wondering which email address you emailed to get the confirmation?

    Thank you

We are cruising on the Voyager in February. After reading this thread we emailed Regent asking them to confirm that we attained Silver prior to Sept 30,2014 so therefore get free unlimited wifi. They promptly emailed us confirming we will receive free unlimited wifi. We have hard copied this and put it in our cruise documents. Hopefully we won't need it but we have written confirmation just in case.
  15. Sorry yes I meant Travel Agent.

We were originally looking at a United Flight with one stop and a long layover in Houston instead of several short hops on Delta.

The cost of both flights (calling and United and Delta) is virtually the same $2 difference. It seems that RSSC has an arrangement with United since they are flying us back from Europe on United. I am just trying to get the information for to tell my travel agent so she knows how to go about the booking. She apparently thought she had to wait to 75 days before the trip to make any travel arrangements even though we are paying a deviation fee.

  16. Hi there all it seems each time I go on a cruise I come here to ask some questions. My wife and I are goign to be travelling with my parents who like long layovers because of issues with my Dad's mobility.

We are flying from Boise to Rio for the Rio to Barcelona cruise in April. We are going to go a couple of days early and pay a deviation fee anyway so the TA was going to get us a flight from Boise to Houston then Rio, we were going to have a long layover in Houston which was great because we were going to get a room in the Airport hotel to swim and relax.

Now she is saying the only options for our flight is to go from Boise, to salt lake city with a 40 min layover and then SLC to Atlanta with an hour layover.

Sorry for the long complaint. But I guess my overall question is once paying a deviation fee can't our TA use more options such as the united flights going through Houston instead of just sticking with the Delta flight?

    Thanks for any help.

  17. Yea I have "googled" them usually I use the ITAmatrix to come up with the codes and routing before talking with the TA. The only problem with the whole thing is the TA, my mom who is going on the trip loves her TA ... me and my wife not so much.

So it seems when we do use her we have to do a lot of leg work to make sure she is checking out everything she should be, and then have to do a lot of followup.

  18. Right now if we used Regent it looks like our connections would go from BOI -> MSP ->ATL -> GIG on the way out which seems like a lot of flying around the US to try and go south east.

The Star Alliance flights out of BOI, go to either Houston or Denver before heading down to Panama City then Brazil .... and they have decent rates for upgraded seats at $1700pp.
